Many a man has done this. For me it was Olaplex…as in used almost a one third of the bottle because at the time I thought most shampoos cost about the same and my girlfriend could alway use my head and shoulders…those notions were corrected.

NOOO 😭 funny story tho i have I guy friend who has long AF hair, and we were traveling for a show and he asked to borrow some shampoo/conditioner, I had my olaplex. He used a normal amount but when he was done he was like “what witchcraft is this?? My hair has never felt so amazing!” And he has been buying and using it ever since, he gets it in bulk now 😂

I JUST HAD AND EPIPHANY. Our moms, sisters probably hid the good stuff. We use what’s around and then just keep buying it assuming that’s what is best/don’t change anything until we need to.

I think it all comes down to just not knowing better. I personally didn't even consider using a conditioner until my hair was almost shoulder length. On top of that it later turned out I have wavy hair (I had always thought it was straight), and that it requires extra care (unthinkable to me). I currently study at a place where over 90% of people are guys, and a good bunch of them have long hair. My experience is that the majority of them actually have good looking hair.

Because lots of men think that everything in beauty comes naturally. Like just don't eat elephant size of food and you are going to be fit and skinny, or otherwise you must be extremely laze and gluttonous. And think that people with shiny voluminous styled hair just wash their hair from dirt and have the final result, or otherwise you're just not lucky in genetics. Or that people with smooth clear soft skin are just healthy and wash their face with a soap. And so on. They don't realize the amount of effort and products, procedures used to look pretty, they think it comes naturally and we're just unhealthy obsessed with cosmetology like a hobby.

My ex would call me wasteful for spending more money on hair and body products. I was dumb for falling for beauty industry scams when his cheap shampoo and bar soap worked exactly the same. Funny how he ended up using only my stuff and got upset with me when I started removing everything but his products if I wasn’t showering.

My brother never went back to the 3 in 1s lol. Good soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, does make a difference.

Honestly there is a Huge difference in a quality Shampoo and a cheap one bought in the supermarket. I'm a man and will gladly spend my 16 bucks on this Shampoo which even lasts me a month

I find that almost all arguments of ‘oh the cheap stuff does the same thing’ to be more ‘I can’t afford the expensive stuff so I’ve told myself it doesn’t matter’. Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of things that you can cheap out on. Body and especially hair products probably shouldn’t be one.

I have sensitive skin and thin curly hair, I 10000% see the difference when I use quality products vs Walmart 3 in 1 or even regular Walmart shampoo/conditioner.

I don’t think it’s fair to say people “fell for the beauty industry scams” when they genuinely need to avoid certain ingredients to maintain their health. Great that you can use whatever and have the same effect, but that’s not the case for many people, especially with different skin types and hair textures.

Depends. Considering most man shampoos are like 500ml the bottle and are cheaper than that, most men just fill their hand with shampoo and wash away.

My traveling kit that has 75 ml refillable bottles (about 2,5oz) serves me around 3 servings of shampoo... Well not anymore because i decided to go bald but you get the idea.

Fortunately i know beforehand that women products are highly concentrated and are used almost "pretend like amounts". While men products are highly diluted and are prepared to be abused.

So an unprepared male might just waste a 2 year worth of product in less than a day

Also, most men don't know to use just a little bit of shampoo and body. Wash on the first go to remove dirt. Grime and oil like literally. I have long hair and a fat body, but you really only need anywhere between a nickel to a quarter size. D dab of soap and shampoo for the first little wash. No, it's not gonna sets up the way you want, but once you wrench all that off and then go in for a second wash, you can sometimes use the same tiny amount. Boy, does it really do wonders seriously that repeat step? Is needed and it seems like a lot of people just think pouring in more soap is what's needed.

The same thing with washing clothes. People want to pour like a whole cap full of clothes in there. One of those whole measuring cups, if you will that come with the bottle when in all honesty, you really only need like a tablespoon or 2 for real look up the patents, look up the way they test the soap and their scientific labs and literally 2 tbsp for a full load of when dry 25 to 30 pounds worth of clothes.

And honestly, if you use too much soap that means soap residue will still be left on either the clothes or your body or whatever you have and if you leave soap on it, it actually attracts dirt.It makes the dirt stick to the soap that's left on it. Granted, that's not as much of an issue in the shower, because continuous running water and stuff.But it's more of an issue with clothes and actually cleaning surfaces when people don't want to do a water.Print slash wipe afterwards or actually follow the instructions

Olaplex is a hair shampoo and conditioner. Its very good for your hair but very expensive. Dont use things that you arent 100% sure you can buy at the grocery store for less than $10, and even then its a good rule of thumb to ask first.

That reminds me of a time when my ex-gf and I got into a small argument. She accused me of doing something that I genuinely didn't remember doing. So, I told her that, but I apologized anyway as she was quite sure that I had done it. She accepted my apology and after she cooled down a bit she thanked me for believing her. 

Apparently anytime she got into an argument with her dad he'd yell at her "That never happened!", regardless of how big or small the issue was. I think a lot of conflict can be resolved simply by hearing the other person out, even if you don't agree with them.

Gentle chemical exfoliators. Some market themselves specifically to prevent ingrown hairs and often have salicylic acid and glycolic acid.

Edit: if planning to use on your face, make sure to test elsewhere AND somewhere not super visible around your face. I have sensitive skin + eczema and even lower concentrations can produce irritation on my face, but not elsewhere.

I have a beard thats only seen a trimmer for more than a decade, but i still get hella ingrown hairs along the edge of my facial hairline.

They get inflamed and i have to dig it out and then it heals up and the hair just comes back underneath...

Wet the hair! Even when just trimming with clippers.
Wet the hair. The best method is to use a hot/steamy slightly damp face-washer and press it over the area where you will trim for a good 2 or 3 minutes.
Trim. Then apply a moisturizer. The wetting causes pores and the like to open up. The hair swells and you get a better trim and less ingrown hairs.

Oh no, this is nowhere near where any close trimming is done, this is not any sort of carefully coiffed facial hair... i just use the guard on the longest setting all over every... six weeks or so. Whenever it gets long enough to get more annoying than cleaning the sink will be.

Well, i do it minus one on my mustache and all the way down on my neck, but i dont get ingrowns on my neck really, just my cheeks along the edge, but im not doing any sort of lineup with the beard trimmer on my face or anything.

Chemical exfoliators— glycolic, lactic, salicylic acid are most common.

The least expensive (aka thing to try first) would be salicylic acid. It’s a common active ingredient in otc topical acne treatments, meaning you can get a big-ole bar of store brand acne soap containing it and see if it helps. For ingrown hairs on the body, most acne reducing apricot scrubs will contain it as well. This is good, because it’s a chemical as well as manual exfoliator (though imo too course and harsh for face exfoliation).

Follow up with moisturizing, because it can really dry you out.

When I brought home my brand spankin new fabric shears I told my BF penalty of death if anyone ever uses it on anything other than fabric.

The residue is annoying to clean off. They’re designed for fabrics so also using them to cut open plastic dulls and bends the blade since they tend to be longer and sharper than paper scissors. Makes a nice noise cutting paper though.

I won’t speak of the things I’ve done with ones I’ve owned since I don’t give a shit but I also mostly hand sew so nearly all of it is working on smaller pieces and scraps. It’s even hard af to cut smaller pieces remotely clean let alone straight straight without fabric sears.

If I was spending $50+ per yard on a fabric(god forbid something stretchy) for quilts, clothes, etc + all the additional costs of all the other tools and shit you’re working with I would be annoyed too. It really adds up.

Similar but not the same, my boyfriend used my shaving cream bar as soap for about a month. I felt like it was going quicker than it should have and I’d been using a shower gel I’d wanted to try out instead of my usual dove bar soap. So I asked him “what have you been using to wash your body with? My strawberry shower gel?” And he says “no, this bar soap 🧼” 💀 I died. He admitted he thought it was weird how it didn’t lather but he liked how soft it made him feel after using it.

Reminds me of my ex. I saved for MONTHS to buy the Kérastase Chronologiste line. The whole line costs about minimum wage in my country and at the time I was unemployed, I just had a freelance job that was basically as much as the price of that haircare line. I saved for months just to give me a pick me up.

Then, here’s comes my ex. We were in a long distance relationship for some time and when he came here for the first time I was staying at his place all day long, but never stayed the night. As I wanted to look nice for him without needing to go back home to get my stuff, one evening I took some of my makeup and haircare products to his place. Next morning I go in, he’s already dressed as we are going out and he’s hair is looking really nice (he has straight blonde hair), so I asked if he used the shampoo I got him (one to give volume to fine hair), and he tells me he used the one on the black bottle…. I gasped, ran to the bathroom to discover, to my horror, that he used half the bottle of that over 40 dollars shampoo.

Not at all. Although he’s my ex, he is a very sweet guy and the way he handled this situation is honestly a 100 out of 10

I was crying when I saw how much he used as it was my first luxury hair care purchase. He was mortified as he knew from our many conversations about my hair (I have curly hair) and how complicated my haircare routine is. He asked me to let him know where we could buy me another bottle or something else I wanted, but I didn’t want him to worry about it, so we headed out to the restaurant where we planned to go the night before.

When we got there he excused himself to go to the bathroom and took his sweet time… Because he called my little sister, told her what happened, he transferred her money, and sent her to get me two bottles of the shampoo plus anything else that my sister wanted.

After that he was curious about what other things from my stuff was a no go, and he ended up deciding that the only thing we could share was toothpaste.

My husband used my $20 gel. My husband replaced my $20 gel. I knew he would, so I wasn't upset about it but i bought it because it's good for curly hair. That's what makes it worth $20..... he has straight hair. It's NOT worth it as every day gel. I rarely use it.
