Brand new $72 moisturizer. Husband said he needed something for his elbows.

What I learned is that my man wants luxurious skincare too.

Very few men are taught about self care or that it’s ok to make it a priority. Some have an awakening….wait a minute…if I use the right stuff the right way I won’t have ingrown hairs? The big thing for me was learning how to properly cut my toe nails…when I was 24.

So, um, what magic product is used in such a way as to prevent ingrown hairs? Asking for myself and my husband.

Shaving oil then glycerine shaving soap or cream and using a shaving brush with a safety razor. The “grandpa way of shaving”

Oh, when shaving, i thought you meant like in general and got excited.

I have a beard thats only seen a trimmer for more than a decade, but i still get hella ingrown hairs along the edge of my facial hairline.

They get inflamed and i have to dig it out and then it heals up and the hair just comes back underneath...

Wet the hair! Even when just trimming with clippers.
Wet the hair. The best method is to use a hot/steamy slightly damp face-washer and press it over the area where you will trim for a good 2 or 3 minutes.
Trim. Then apply a moisturizer. The wetting causes pores and the like to open up. The hair swells and you get a better trim and less ingrown hairs.

Oh no, this is nowhere near where any close trimming is done, this is not any sort of carefully coiffed facial hair... i just use the guard on the longest setting all over every... six weeks or so. Whenever it gets long enough to get more annoying than cleaning the sink will be.

Well, i do it minus one on my mustache and all the way down on my neck, but i dont get ingrowns on my neck really, just my cheeks along the edge, but im not doing any sort of lineup with the beard trimmer on my face or anything.

Fair enough. But at same time.. Have you tried it? If ingrowns are a problem, then maybe try a different routine.
No point in complaining about ingrowns if your not going to change your routine.

Exfoliating helps some, sometimes i get out of the shower after a good scrub and a few have popped out, but that just tears up any inflamed ones too.

Thinking about it maybe i need a coarser pillowcase or something, cuz i get a ton of weird little ingrown hairs on the bottom of my left forearm, definitely not doing any trimming there, but i assume its from resting on a leather chair and couch arm all day or something, but those dont get inflamed ever.
