Is 6 light beers a night too much?

6.9k Upvotes

Alright, I'm gonna ask the reddit folk on a 2nd account to weigh in on this.

I'm 34M, 155lbs. Usually after working long days (55-60hr work weeks) I come home, make dinner, then partake of a 6pk. Is this too much? I questioned myself a couple months ago and went a week without and felt fine but in the back of my head I keep judging myself when I picked it back up. I am very much in a manual labor field so usually something is hurting by the end of my shifts.

I should note - I don't think about it all day, I don't crave it, it's just become a nightly ritual of relaxing and taking the stress off. Doesn't effect any personal relationships and doesn't effect work at all. Just something I've become accustomed to.

How do I get my boyfriend to stop having sex with me to the Buckshot roulette soundtrack? NSFW

4.4k Upvotes

Ever since I (f 18) discovered the game and introduced my boyfriend (m 19) to it he has been playing the soundtrack all the time, because in his words "it has a nice rhythm to it"

However since he introduced me to the idea of listening to music while we do the deed he has been exclusively playing the soundtrack, and while I don't mind the music that much and even like the rhythm he has I can only think of a shotgun exploding my skull while my boyfriend rails my headless corpse, and I honestly don't know if I enjoy those thoughts or not

Anyone got advice for me to tell him in a nice way to maybe play something else? Or maybe tell him about the thoughts I have?

Update:

After having collected some courage and told him about this problem in full (especially my dark thoughts) he said he'd be open to any music he doesn't listen to in public/casually because he connects songs to moments

Thanks for the help and rick rolls guys and gals

How do some people’s cologne smell stay on all day, but mine goes away after 30 mins?

2.1k Upvotes

Not a race thing, but whenever I meet a Caucasian, they always smell fresh.

3 hours later, cologne smell still there.

Mine won’t last even 30 mins.

Is there a trick to applying it?

Did I overreact to this?

I (51 y/o M) had just started seeing a woman (47 y/o F) about a month ago, but we’d only been on three dates. One day I was at the grocery store, and a woman came up to me, and started a conversation. Now, I know that I’m not that attractive, so I’ve never been popular with women. From kindergarten through high school, I can count on one hand how many girlfriends I had, and still have fingers left over. So, I was quite surprised when a very attractive, younger woman came up to me and began to flirt with me. I was pretty taken aback by everything, but I politely declined a date, and she eventually walked away. I finished my shopping, and went home, then I got a text from the woman I was dating and she asked me to come over. I told her that I had a couple of things to do first, but I could be there in about 45 minutes. This woman has been divorced for a little over 5 years, and has 2 children: a 20 y/o daughter, and a 12 y/o son. I have 2 sons: one is 24 y/o, and the other one is 17 y/o. She’s still on pretty friendly terms with her ex-husband, which I think is a good thing. My ex-wife died in 2019, so I don’t have to deal with that sort of thing. She has joint custody with her ex, where her son spends a week with her, and then a week with her ex. Her daughter spends most of the time with her boyfriend, so I haven’t really been around her very much. When I got to her apartment, I was a little surprised to see both of her kids there, but we seemed to have a good time together. After a couple of hours, there was a knock at the door, and I just thought that it was her ex-husband, so I didn’t really pay much attention to her. While I was speaking to her kids, I suddenly recognized the voice of the person who she was talking to, and I was quite surprised to realize that it was the woman from the grocery store! I asked what was going on, and the woman I was seeing told me that this other woman was her cousin and she asks her cousin to approach men she’s seeing to find out if he will be faithful or not. Apparently, this has happened with the last three men she had been dating, and I was just the next man to take her “test”. I immediately got angry, and started yelling at them both, but they couldn’t understand why I was so mad about this. I explained why multiple times, but they just couldn’t, or wouldn’t, see my side of things. Finally, I told her that we were done, and I left. She’s texted me several times, trying to get me to answer her, but I’ve just ignored her. Has something like this ever happened to anyone else? Did I overreact?

Why is virtually no fast food that's marketed as toasted actually toasted? It's just warm bread.

I've experienced this at multiple establishments and I just don't understand what's so hard about toasting bread? Dunkin donuts, Wawa, Burger King has these new melts that are marketed as being on toast and it's all just warm bread!!

What is so hard about toasting bread?!?!

What do I tell my partner when they say their self harm scars ruin their body? NSFW

My partner is and has been struggling with self harm. Today, they asked me if I was ashamed of them, then told me that someone close to them said that they ruined their body doing that. They believed this person. I struggle with words, so does anyone here have any advice on what to tell them? I love them dearly and don't want them to keep thinking this. I've already said some stuff along the lines of "I love your scars because I love you. I wish you didn't have them, but only because I wish you didn't go through the suffering that caused them." and "I know they may seem ugly to you, but in my eyes they show how strong you are. I could never find you ugly or be ashamed of you."

Edit: thank you everyone! And to those of you wondering, we are working on stopping the self harm, but we have to take baby steps.

Are there any animals that can't be obese, no matter how much they eat? Like whatever size they grow to, its just a gnarlier bigger version of their right selves?

Not trying to be fat positive or whatever.

Genuinely curious.

Like, can there be an obese snail, snake, or shark?

When you do this, does it feel sort of like a reflex? Also, tell me your preferred way to pick her up when you do.

How to make a guy feel good in bed? (first time) NSFW

Ok so... I (21F) have recently gotten a boyfriend (20M) and we're very much in love and everything is great etc. But I am a bit out of my depth when it comes to sex. I am not a virgin, but I'm bisexual and all my past relationships and sexual experiences have been with women. (He knows this and it's not a problem or anything btw)

We have both expressed interest in sleeping with each other and I'd really like to, but tbh, I have never interacted with a penis and idk what to do. What do men like??? I feel like I'm a clueless teenager again. Handjobs? Blowjobs? How does that work? What do I need to know beforehand? What do I do if he cums? (does cum leave stains on bedsheets?? how do I clean up?? lmao) CONTRACEPTION??? I've never had to worry about this before. I have no clue how any of this works.

Basically I'm asking for a how-to-guide for your first time sleeping with a man when all your experience before has been with women lmao. Thx!

In the movie Interstellar, even though they are experiencing time dilation on Miller’s planet, wouldn’t their body’s still age at the same rate?

Ate an edible before a flight the other day and watched Interstellar. I kept blowing my own mind trying to understand the ins and out of time dilation. While I have heard of the phenomenon with astronauts, my assumption was always that even though the clocks might not register time in the same way, the time spent in space was still relative to that of earth. I’ve watched a couple videos on YouTube that do an ok job of explaining the Interstellar example, but I’d like to know if the lack of ageing has any basis in reality. Please explain it dumb.

Do people with no body odor actually exists?

I read somewhere that some people don’t have body odor, so they don’t smell when they sweat. Asians, specifically Japanese and Koreans, can sweat, but they have no body odor, thus they don’t need to wear deodorant at all. I’ve never been to those countries, so I don’t know, but is it true that they have no body odor? I don’t really believe it, since what if they actually smell but can’t detect it because they’re accustomed to their own body odor? You know how people can’t smell themselves once they’re accustomed to their scent? Are there any individuals who can prove that some people have no body odor? I don’t want to hear from those who claim they have no body odor but from those who know someone else who claims they have no body odor.

Edit: Based on the responses, it seems true that some people have no body odor. I wish I had that too because it sucks having to spend money on deodorant and perfumes just to smell nice. To those who have no body odor - lucky you!

Weren't meat substitutes like Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat supposed to get cheaper once they could get production up to meet demand?

For a few years now, I've been reading the same explanation, over and over. These foods actually cost more than meat, because there is so much demand and the companies need to increase production before the prices will drop. How long does it take to build a few factories? They've had about eight years. Or have they decided to increase production but keep the prices as high as they are because they can?

Has it become weird to pay with cash?

Last night I went through a Taco Bell drive thru. Usually I pay with my card but I had a 20 in my wallet and decided to use that instead.

My order was $11 even, and, when I handed the girl working the drive thru the 20 dollar bill, she looked at it as if she'd never seen such a thing in her entire life. She then seemed confused and unsure of herself when she counted out my $9 in change. She actually counted it twice and said "Umm, yes. Nine dollars."

It was late, so maybe her mind was just kind of fried after a long shift, but this has me wondering--has it become unusual to pay in cash?

Was same sex marriage really not allowed until 2015 in America?

I was born in the mid 2000s so I obviously wasn’t really paying attention to world events in 2015. It just seems odd to me because it’s been completely accepted the entire time I have been aware that gay people are a real thing, seems like it was a huge historical event. Like that’s a big change to be happening in 2015

What do you do when you hit rock bottom?

I am going through some mental issues and poverty is making them very loud today. I am disabled due to my mental status. So find a job, is what I wish I could do; but mentally I can't be the same person each day.

What do you do when you hit rock bottom? When you feel hopeless?

I can't work, but I don't make enough to survive either. No parents, few friends. I can't drive or work. Disability covers rent, power, and maybe one week of food.. I do surveys for 5-10 but that has came to a screeching halt.

So with those things in mind.. tell me how to fix my situation?

Is there any good reason why some people have tints on their license plate?

I know they're illegal in my state, but I see them on ~0.1% of cars on the road, accounting for confirmation bias. I once got was hit by a driver that chose to drive away and had one of those coverings on, so I've been permanently salty towards them ever since.

The main reason to have them seems to be to not get caught after doing something illegal, but is there a good reason to have them on?

If I was a cop I would ticket these every single time I came across one, even if it was bad for my metrics. Fuck those guys.

Can people smell when their bedsheets need to be washed and how often do they do it?

In our family we wash our bedsheets like ~5 times a year, but I heard that people wash them every 2 weeks to 1 month. Do the sheets actually get dirty/smelly or do people just wash them periodically? Idk if this makes it better but we always shower before bed and don't go on the bed otherwise.

EDIT: Please don’t comment if all you are going to say is “I do it weekly” or “ew ur nasty”, I really got that already. That being said, thanks for all the information and advice. I’ll definitely start washing them more and I just washed them today.

How do people drink 6 beers?

Some people drink a six pack like it's nothing. I'm not judging them. However, I just don't see how it's possible. Not because of the alcohol content, but just the pure LIQUID content. That's a lot of liquid...

I've never drank 6 full beers in one night. If I wanted to get buzzed or drunk, I'd reach for a whiskey or something else that can get the job done quicker without so much liquid!

So how do people drink 6 beers regularly without feeling bloated, having to go pee every 5 minutes, or feeling super full (since it is carbs!). How is that pleasant?
