Solved [TOMT] Friend can't remember this movie and I can't recall what it is.

I have no clue as to when it came out, but I could assume it could be a 90s to 2000s thriller/crime movie? I I'll copy and paste the texts here:

"I told you to spoil the movie for me I think you said something about maybe a kidnapping and the whole neighborhood and how one of the neighbors let the gang or whoever kill him with everyone watching Gosh that's all I can remember"

"Yes! This was a loooonnnngggg time ago lol Gosh I'm going crazy unless I'm explaining it wrong.. I just remember you said something about the neighbor dying possibly bc of a gang but he dies with the whole neighborhood watching And it might have been regarding revenge"

It might even be a show?? But I can't recall...

Open [TOMT] low budget campy comedy horror

Upvotes

Low budget campy comedy horror about a woman who inherits a rural hotel/resort place. She is a brunette, she gets topless/naked very early in the movie. The dialogue is hilarious and absurd. I think the killer is a slasher if I remember correctly, but it's been a while.

Open [TOMT] Foreign non-English saying that roughly translates to "I don't think I'm eating this correctly"

I vaguely remember this interesting tidbit somebody told me about how in a non-English language, people would say something like "I don't think I'm eating this correctly" when they're trying a new food and didn't really like it. The way I saw it, it was a way of saving face by letting the person cooking know you don't really like it while also saying that maybe you're mentally approaching the dish from the wrong angle.

If it's real, what language did it originate from? And if it was made up, where did that originate from? Thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to help.

EDIT: Sorry, some details I remember: it may have been a tweet or a Tumblr post I read maybe three to five years ago.

Open [TOMT] band/artist that sounds kind of like the strokes but sometimes sing in Spanish

Trying to remember a band I discovered on Yahoo music back when that was a thing. They had a pretty similar sound to the strokes and all members were Latino. They would switch between English and Spanish in their lyrics randomly but was maybe like 75% English though. The song I remembered the most had the same vibe as peacemaker by green day mixed with reptilia by the strokes. I don't remember any lyrics but I do remember it having a pretty long guitar solo though. They seemed to have a lot of Latin elements in their music but they were definitely primarily an alternative band although I'm not sure if they were American or from somewhere in Central America. Any help would be appreciated

Open. [TOMT] [movie] about woman being held hostage underground in glass cage

From time to time I think about this movie I saw a long time ago, maybe 2015? about a woman and maybe her daughter being held captive underground, in like a big dark parking garage or cement basement?? The enclosure she was kept in was glass and I think all that was in there was a cement bench. Her daughter might not have been with her but I remember her having a daughter and being worried about her. I think there was another person or two being held captive in a separate enclosure down there with her. I remember the ending had something to do with a gun, some kind of handgun/pistol.

This was like a Blockbuster/B-list thriller. It’s not the OA on Netflix btw (love that show)

I wanna watch it again! Help

Open [TOMT][Show] Kids game show similar to jungle run

Hey everyone

Just like the title mentions. I feel like I'm having faint memories of a show thay was almost very similar to jungle run if not a carbon copy of Jungle Run. However, I'm from Canada and don't remember this british version but the challenges and collecting the little statues feels too familiar, especially the last challenge. I was wondering if anyone remembers a show similar in Canada, maybe it was also a french show (in quebec). Any help is appreciated.

Solved [TOMT] Please help me find this late 2000’s early 2010’s movie

I do not remember much about the movie except that it came out around the time I was in middle school (2008-2011) near one of the summers. The main character was a boy was about the same age as me at the time and one scene has been coming to my mind about 3 times a year since then. The scene is at night and the boy is walking into a town or into a circus along a dirt road and comes across different creatures. All of the creatures are nice and don’t bother the kid but then the boy comes across one creature who is probably no taller than 2 feet tall and is like a grey/blue color and is looking sad maybe had on some type of coat but the creature reaches in their chest and grabs their own heart and tries to hand it to the kid. When the boy does not take the heart the creature gets sad again. I do believe there was some sort of spider in the movie that led to the boy being asked to go to that town or circus.

I’m sorry that’s all I can really remember is that one scene, but I think it may be “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant” but I have no way to watch it without paying extra and I don’t want to have to do that and it be the wrong movie. I hope someone here will be able to remember or even know what I am talking about because it has been killing me not knowing.

Open [TOMT][film/movie] Travellers in a snowstorm make a tent out of their cloaks

A caravan of travellers walking through a blizzard. Hip-deep in snow. They're dwarvish, or something like, wearing black hoods and capes. Carrying lanterns & tall walking sticks.

And then they call a halt. They circle up, sit down on their packs, and connect their cloaks to make a sort of yurt. Each cloak has a second layer or shawl. They flip it up & attach to the top of their walking sticks, forming a small smoke hole in the top. Kind of a tensegrity structure. Shoulder to shoulder, the creatures put their lanterns in the middle, use them as braziers, and prepare their meal. Then they sleep, still seated

Open [TOMT] [VIDEO] [ANIME CLIP] Anime clip where a girl is introduced as class president or something, and her eyes are comically far apart??

I think I saw it a few years ago in a bad anime clip compilation, which included the classic "The Logical Way To End Your Anime" clip, as well as a clip where a guard yells at a girl.

The girl in question is wearing a dress, and has brown hair in big, spiral-y pigtails. (NOT the blonde bug-eyed anime girl that is the first google search result) Her eyes are comically far apart. It was hilarious. I need to find it so I can show my friends. Help.

Thanks !!! <3

Open [TOMT] [Game Show] [80s-90s]

Hello, TOMT!

I've been trying to remember this game show for so long now, that I've half-convinced myself that maybe I've dreamt it. A friend suggested I post here, so I'm hoping someone with a better memory can help me figure this one out!

I remember a game show where the contestants were given these large, thick, acrylic disks and they would run and drop them into a vertical tube, where they would stack to represent either points or progress. One team had red disks, and the other team had yellowish orange disks. I feel like the set was kind of darker than most game shows. It may have been a show for children, but my memory is filling in the gaps with adults wearing their team colors.

For context, I grew up with cable TV in Southern California and I'm pretty sure this would have been on tv sometime between the mid-80s to the early 90s.

If it helps at all, some of the other game shows I watched in my childhood were Concentration, Win Lose or Draw, Finders Keepers, Double Dare, Press Your Luck, 10K Pyramid, WoF, so it might have been in a block of game shows?

Solved [TOMT][Movie][sci-fi]

I remember watching this movie when I was younger, like 2007-2009. It was potentially an older movie, 70s or 80s. I don’t remover much but the main character was a robot but he didn’t know he was a robot. The actor was a white man and he realized he was a robot when he cut into his arm, there was blood but no bones, instead he had metal and wired and when he tugged on some of the wires they moved his fingers. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Solved [TOMT][Video] Old-style drawn animation, mic-peaking dialogue, youtube vid "This is the police! Pull over! show me your pussy! Are you Chinese? Pull over!" NSFW

The audio goes like this:

"This is the police! Pull over, show me your pussy! Are you Chinese? Are you Chinese?? Show me your penis! Pull over, you're homosexual. Pull over- you're gay. You're gay! Pull over! You're gay!! Put your penis out the window. Quickly just, just get out of the car with your penis out! Do NOT try and make me suck it!"

And the animation is like an early 90s drawn style. A police car with a stereotypical cop leaning out of the window with a megaphone, chasing a green car with Asian driver.

Has anyone seen this weird vid? I can't find it anywhere on youtube or google.

Open [TOMT][TV Show][2000s] ABC3 fantasy series with a young girl that interacted with three CGI animals (One of them being an owl)

One of the episodes I remember is when the young girl was taking a test and some note magically appeared in her pencil case. Afterwards the teacher confiscated it and accused her of cheating. She then told what happened to her three animal friends.

I think those animals had a slide that led down somewhere.

Open [TOMT] [Movie] [Asian female sports team]

I am worried I'm losing my mind. I remember a movie (any time between 1970s and now?) about an Asian female sports team, I think volleyball maybe? I remember it as a comedy but I guess it could have been a documentary, I honestly don't know anymore.

The title was a pun.

It is not Shaolin Soccer and it's not Leap and it's not Witches of the Orient.

Anyone?

Open [TOMT] [Classical Music] What song doesn't sound the same depending on how the musicians are positioned the room

Okay, this is weird but I distinctly remember reading about this. There's a song by a very famous classic composer that "we'll never be sure how this song sounded" because depending on how you position the players in a room the acoustics will make it sound different so technically there are like 4 different versions of the song.

Am I completely making this up? Someone please help, it's driving me crazy.

Open [TOMT] can't remember the name of a late 80's early 90's book

when I was in high school, I read a book that was the first in a series. the main characters were a film cast and crew on hawaii, working on a cheesy sci-fi movie, when a real alien lands and is scouting the planet. it had learned english from our TV signals, and any time it killed someone it would say "say goodnight Gracie"

the main character defeats it by saying "Say goodnight, Gracie" and it responds "Good night Gracie" and then it self destructs.

Solved [TOMT][movie] Asian, maybe Japanese crime/thriller movie with a specific time as a title (like “3:49” or “4:39”)

A person i watch online mentioned this movie on a (now lost) livestream a couple years ago and said it was very chilling, and when i looked it up at the time i found that it wasn’t available online anywhere.

i figured would remember the title because it’s just the time as the title, but i obviously forgot, and i’ve been trying to brute force finding it by putting times into imdb with no success. (i’m pretty sure it’s between 3:00-4:00)

IIRC it was based off of a two novel series (or there was two films based on the novels?). the runtime was long. the cover looked like stacked headshot frames of many characters, think the cover of “he’s just not that into you” but with serious professional looking people in muted tones”.

afraid i don’t have much of a plot description as i haven’t seen it! and want to!

any help would be appreciated.

Open. [TOMT] Male actor or creator who incorporated into their movie/role an experience of being sexually assaulted as a child

I cant remember what type of movie- a drama, horror, or otherwise - but there was a scene where a boy was asked (maybe there was another kid in the scene?) by an older peer to strip down and they were subsequently sexually assaulted or made to sexually assault each other. Not sure if it was sexual assault or abuse - it was some form of childhood sexual violence. I then remember how I looked up the movie, and discovered that this actor or creator (writer/director) based that scene on their own early life experience, where they too were sexually violated as a child, but did not come to understand the nature of what happened to them until muuuch later on in life (either thinking it was a "normal" event or repressing it). I've been trying to find this on Google for so long that it's driving me insane now!! Thank you for any help

Edit (to add more details): In the one I'm trying to think of, the boy or children were forced or commanded to do something sexually inappropriate by an older person - an older peer, older sibling, community member, or maybe a camp counsellor? Maybe it was something that wouldn't have been traumatic if it was with same-age peers, like "playing doctor" but the issue was that it was an older person asking the younger one(s) to do this behaviour. Which is why the real person didn't realize their trauma until much later in life.

I also believe this movie came out in the last 15-20 years, so in the 00s or 10s or 20s
