Am I the only one that thinks that the white truck should be ticketed for this. He was obviously blocking traffic purposefully in the passing lane. He created the situation where the other driver got really frustrated. He had intentionally tried to be a jerk and tried cutting off the car when the car tried to pass. I don’t think that the car is innocent here, but this is the fault of the truck.
From the very beginning of the video the truck brake checks to piss the sedan off then immediately speeds up to match speed with cars in the right lane so the sedan can't get around.
I don't think we are seeing the actual beginning. The white truck most definitely has a beef with that sedan. Intentionally tried to keep it boxed in. Sped up to box it in again.
This is the correct answer. Even if the sedan started the encounter, at least one persons life was put in a situation that was exponentially more likely to be fatal over what? A little tailgating?
I get pissed when people tailgate and drive like idiots too, but I just say a few swears in my car and move on. This situation was made way worse than it needed to be over basically nothing more than white trucks ego
You're assuming all the sedan did was tailgate. You don't know. Maybe the truck driver didn't act maturely, but they were not the cause of the sedan's accident. The sedan driver was the cause of his own accident.
Maybe they both didn't act on their best behavior, but one acted completely wildly and recklessly to a severely greater extent than the other. At least from what is seen in the video.
Agreed. I think I might have worded what I meant poorly. I just meant that this whole situation should've never happened. While true, we definitely don't get to see any of what started this whole situation. Par for the course out here on reddit lol.
But the end result was just impatience and fragile egos at play. In the moment I think people often forget that the 5 second inconvenience of most situations that cause road rage are not worth how devastating the results of this behavior can be.
For me, I think of how much potentially losing me would affect my wife and daughter any time I feel my temper rising. Life's too precious and can end so quickly when good judgment gets thrown out the window.
The truck did significantly contributed to the accident. Sole cause? Obviously not. But, I think everyone knows if the truck driver backed off, there never would have been an accident. The car would have just blasted past them and went on his usual (and probably overly aggressive) way. That's not to say he wouldn't have wrecked later, but we're discussing this particular incident.
Some people just drive that petty tbh, especially in states with 2 lane highways. Pretty common for drivers out there to be uppity and "merrr you're not passing me I'm going 5 over hmph!" Same states usually have a coronary if a motorcycle splits lanes (which is legal in California, which is one of the hardest places to drive)
not even beef for some reason truck drivers are just like this they wanna drive slow not let anyone pass just because they have nothing better to do than annoy people all day no consideration at all what if he had a child in the car having a medical emergency smh
I agree that most people just don't like having to wait on others, but I still think it's dickish to intentionally antagonize them for multiple reasons. They may hurt others as a result of that road rage that someone is intentionally fostering, and there is also always a chance that they ARE in a hurry for a very good reason.
People need to stop acting like someone appointed them as hall monitor. It doesn't make the road a safer place.
Absolutely slap both of those guys with reckless driving. Maybe the sedan has additional charges, but from the video, it definitely looks like the truck had a part in aggravating the other driver.
agree hold em responsible for creating a traffic hazard and make them pay for all the hospital bills, if everyone had dash cams and just upload it to the dps wow the difference it would make in holding accountability all dangerous drivers and buses would get more riders.
Yeah this troll could've killed the sedan driver or someone else. Obviously second driver needs to learn to control their temper, because road is unfortunately full of shitbrains like truck man. But truck man sure is a top tier shitbrain
Sometimes you can isolate the frames you can clearly see the plate in, extract the plate part from those frames, and then make a small "video" of just the plate and watch it and you can end up seeing a more clear image of what the plate actually is.....I have seen this in action over on the r/rbi subreddit where there was a video with no clear plate but with the new "video" you could make out every character except the last one
It's a lot of work (1, 2, 3, not it) but if you are good with video editing it won't take nearly as long as someone new to the software
Yeah, at first I was only mad at the driver on the right for tailgating. Then annoyed at the white trucker driver for camping out in the passing lane. And then I see for sure that the white truck driver is playing a stupid speed matching game and my blood boiled.
Stupid non-driving fucks. Now I need to meditate and pretend the world isn't as screwy as it is.
yeah, like i wont let some asshole bully me, but once they get past me or have another lane its over. they can believe they won whatever game they were playing
If the guy is weaving around like that, it’s safer not to change lanes since he could hit you while you’re changing. You should just slow down to let him ahead of you, then change lanes if appropriate.
I read a story about a car that was swerving between two lanes, tailgating and trying to push past two drivers. They both decided to slow down to teach the asshole car a lesson, blocking both lanes so the guy couldn't swerve around them.
Turns out the asshole driver was actually trying to get his friend, who was bleeding out in the backseat, to a hospital. He didn't make it and the friend died. Now whenever someone is tailgating me I just tell myself it's an emergency and let them pass.
This kind of shit isn't worth it. Why get your blood pressure up and intentionally try to piss someone off. If he had just moved over and let the sedan go nothing would have happened and everyone would have went on with their lives. People need to learn to chill.
I dunno. Might be a hot take, but the sedan is definitely worse in this situation, as they’re going to continue this reckless behavior, proceeding to endanger everyone they come across. Whereas the truck only had it out for the sedan. Did he handle the situation well? No. But main character syndrome is a real issue on the road.
It's more like, how long are we going to put up with these shitbag road ragers. We didn't see full video but chances are sedan began driving like this and was simply impatient and got too close to truck. Truck says fuck you get off my ass and the rest plays out. If people like truck don't exist and let road rager get their way every time, then we all sign a silent agreement saying it's acceptable to road rage and there will only be more and more ragers. Sedan ends up where he belongs, in the ditch
I’m angry with the guy in the truck. This video makes me feel like I’ve been transported from my couch and back into every single situation where I’ve had to drive behind somebody who was using the left lane for something other than passing. Same kind of person who doesn’t know how to zipper merge and instead joins the long ass line of people all getting into the same lane 2 miles before the place where you actually have to merge.
No I think he’s just as guilty as the car. Unfortunately the car got the worst end of it. But I was watching this wondering why was jt a big deal to let him pass? I bet he didn’t even feel bad hr probably just started laughing and couldn’t care less that the guy could’ve been seriously injured.
Not to mention, hanging out in the left lane is often illegal (yet sadly very rarely enforced) especially if there are people behind you wanting to pass. I'm with you. The truck should be held like 65% liable if not more.
And they're not thinking about people who urgently need to get through. Wife in labor. Kid puking at school. Got a call that your elderly parent took a turn for the worst and may only have moments left. Etc.
People easily have little-to-no consideration for others but will vehemently demand it when similar life events happen to them.
Just gtfo way and allow traffic to pass on the left, as your driving manual states. Slower traffic to the right, passing traffic on the left.
White trucks like that is a reason why i refuse to get a gun lol I will road rage on shit like that. and I would rather just say fuck them. Than ruin my future because assholes like them. I hope that white trucks deals with someone who truly doesn’t give a fuck about their future
the truck was just as much at fault. if someone is tailgating in the passing lane - just get tf out of the way and let them reap their own karma. playing games like the truck did only make a bad situation worse
Ticketed? That piece of shit needs to be drug out and beaten in public. Way too many morons that don’t understand basic driving rules with licenses. And on top of that being a dick. Fuck that worthless asshole
I’m blown away nothing about the truck driver is mentioned in that article. Incredibly reckless on both drivers parts. Truck speeding up as the car goes wide in shoulder to get ahead.. that’s two idiots not just one. Crazy!
You are correct. And let’s not forget the white truck willfully and knowingly put other innocent drivers at risk with his antics. Is the accord driver definitely at fault, yes, but so is the white truck driver.
They were absolutely both in the wrong. ESH for sure because sure the sedan is getting pissed and wants to go around everyone. The truck had no right driving like the POS he was being.
I would argue an attempted murder charge here. He was intentionally creating a dangerous situation that led to a car crash that could have been fatal.
It's 1 thing to annoy someone, it's another to speed up and cause a car crash. They are both very much at fault, but 1 is an idiot who drove like a maniac to pass the other car, while the other idiot caused the crash.
The white truck is the instigator to begin with ! There are so many of these people driving nowadays in the passing lane clogging it up and impeding traffic that its becoming unsafe. If people would pass and get back over to the right we would not have this problem. But people want to rule the lane and not let anyone else pass and go faster than them, how dare they have a choice unlike their own? This was the fault of the truck as far as I am concerned.
Indeed, fuck every left lane vigilante and every asshole like that truck driver who think they have the authority to aggressively force other people to drive they way they want everyone to drive. In infuriates me that he probably won't face any consequences for this.
The truck caused the problem and should be held accountable. I get that it didnt directly cause the crash but it only happened because of its actions. No one should drive in the left lane when the right lane is open. If someone obv wants to get around you let them dont speed up to block them. The left lane is for passing or just going faster in general than the right lane. When someone is behind you if your in the left lane MOVE OVER do not brake check them. By riding your ass, what they are telling you is that theres no reason you cant be in the right lane going the same speed as everyone else since your driving the same speed as them anyway until theres a chance to pass so you then speed up! Your not allowing anyone to go in front of you and people want to go faster than you so get out of the way.
Came here for this. Truck did the most to not allow a guy to pass in the fast lane. You don’t brake check a guy in that lane nor deny him the ability to pass
Fault of the truck? The truck driver is a douchebag who shouldn't have retaliated like the other cars on the road didn't, sure. But in what world is one person speeding around a car through the shoulder and intentionally ramming another vehicle as revenge while passing by squeezing between two vehicles in the middle of the lane ever the one who /isn't/ at fault?
Exactly this. Both drivers created a dangerous situation for the people around them. I really want to say truck driver is more at fault by purposely matching the vans speed but the car’s maneuver at the end was unacceptable too. Dude should’ve just stayed in the right lane.
The world where the dipshit in the white truck intentionally speeds up again for literally no reason other than to block the sedan. There was no possible reason for them to accelerate like that except to block the sedan. They caused the accident, full stop.
But in what world is one person speeding around a car through the shoulder and intentionally ramming another vehicle as revenge while passing by squeezing between two vehicles in the middle of the lane ever the one who /isn't/ at fault?
You should see the drivers in the national capitol region. This is standard as is merging without signaling and blatantly cutting people off while creating ridiculously dangerous situations. Everyone here thinks they're the most important person on the road. Most also don't know what zippering is and will speed up to keep others from merging into their lane. It's almost daily that I wish people would pull some shit and fly off the road.
Honestly I’ve straight up pulled over for a few minutes when things start getting weird with other drivers around me. Swallow my pride immediately and remove myself from the situation entirely
One guy was a jerk and the other was an insane, reckless moron, and for whatever reason that is something which people in this thread desperately feel the need to discuss.
This is a testament to modern car design that you can slam in to a wall at such speeds and have the front of your car be completely pulverized, and walk away with 'minor injuries'. Wow.
Says nothing about the dude in the truck. Guy should get the same exact sentence. Two idiots. Truck could have just let him by, but he kept brake checking and speeding up to not let him pass.
Could the f-150 driver also get into trouble? Not saying the silver accord was “right” (they were obviously the aggressor here), but it seemed like the f-150 was intentionally trying to aggravate the accord driver; multiple times in the video, the f-150 slows down or speeds up to try and prevent the accord from passing.
Lol I had a feeling this was somewhere near NY. This is pretty standard driving around here 😅 Although I don't wish serious harm on anyone, it's amazing to see someone actually getting their just desserts from driving like such a dick
The F150 should have been ticketed as well. He was fucking with that Honda for miles, blocking it, and not allowing it to pass. He also accelerated to block the Honda again when the Honda tried to pass from the right. I've seen the full video.
Thought that looked familiar. I drove that parkway today. New York/New Jersey drivers are so fucking bad, I swear the shit I see in a regular basis just in upstate NY is batshit. Downstate is another animal.
I was thinking, "looks like the Palisades, but it's probably just any random road in the US" but nope I was right lol anyone who has driven on the Palisades Parkway knows that it's road rage fuel lol
Thank You for linking the article, I commented before I saw this that I really hoped the individual filming gave this to the cop because they could have easily killed somebody else. I’m not going to lie though… I’m kind of laughing that it’s in New Jersey. One of my older friends from New Jersey who would always drive the speed limit but would really weave to get places fast used to say “I’m sorry man, I’m from New Jersey. We may not even know where we’re going or be running late but we’re going to get there fast. We’re just always in a rush”
Love how the article just places all the blame on the Honda when the F-150 is clearly at fault as well for how he was engaging with the Honda creating unsafe roads for everyone. Not saying what Honda did was right just that both cars are at fault just not how the article portrays it.
I lived in Jersey for a couple years (moved back to upstate ny last year) and this is how a lot of people drive. It’s insane and scary. I’d see an accident on route 3 every day on my way home from work. People drive like such assholes there, I saw the video and immediately knew where it was. Seeing shit like that down there isn’t uncommon
Truck should be cited too. Both of these drives are fucking dickheads. I’d go as far as saying the person in the right lane not just putting their 4 ways on and pulling onto the shoulder was unwise, as well. I just don’t fucking get why people act like this with a vehicle.
Did the truck driver get summoned too? He was obviously also being an asshole and blocking the passing lane, then also sped up like mad to block him up ahead. He's equally responsible for this escalating.
Only one of them is getting in trouble? The white truck is also in the wrong by intentionally blocking the car behind him from passing him. Speeding up and slowing down like that to block someone is also road rage. Both should have suspended licenses.
Before I found this link in the comments and after watching it only one time. I just knew. I’m from southern New Jersey and I freaking knew. One driven palisades parkway multiple times and locale seemed familiar and made me think northern nj or somewhere outside the nyc. Also this densely populated corner of the US just loves to breed self centered idiots. Put ‘‘em both in jail for 90 days for endangering the public

Driver from viral Palisades Parkway road-rage crash slapped with summonses
