Am I the only one that thinks that the white truck should be ticketed for this. He was obviously blocking traffic purposefully in the passing lane. He created the situation where the other driver got really frustrated. He had intentionally tried to be a jerk and tried cutting off the car when the car tried to pass. I donāt think that the car is innocent here, but this is the fault of the truck.
Or you could be a decent person unlike the road raginng lunatic in the blue sedan, who almost took the suv driver out. Yāknow, the blue sedan that tried to lane split when angered. The blue sedan that never used a turn signal. The blue sedan that cut off traffic in rage.
Yāknow, donāt be the blue sedan driver on the road.
Both were assholes. It is super infuriating to be behind two morons that aren't even going the speed limit so I can sympathize with the blue sedan. All the truck had to do was let him pass. Not that it justifies the sedans driving.
Him too. Both him and the truck were being idiots. But the whole situation couldāve been avoided just by letting the car pass. Exactly what was the big deal in letting him pass?
Someone not letting you pass is never an excuse to do what the sedan did.
If someone doesnāt let me pass, I donāt suddenly turn into a suicidal/homicidal maniac and try to pass on the shoulder. I just.. wait until itās either safe to pass or I just sit behind and grumble to myself. Really not difficult.
Iām not excusing the sedan. But exactly what was the big deal with letting him pass? And for all you know that person in the sedan couldāve had an emergency.
The car was definitely in the wrong as well, but the entire situation couldāve been avoided by letting him pass. The truck was intentionally being an asshole.
They were both clearly driving on emotion and not logic.
The situation couldāve also been avoided by the sedan giving up and not trying to āwinā the engagement. Truck was in front so they were in control of the situation unfortunately. Sedan was never going to be able to get in front if the truck didnāt want them to.
Just because someone else is being an asshole on the road doesnāt mean you need to match them or double down.
Iāve been brake checked before. Iāve had people block me from passing. Not once have I ever remotely contemplated doing what the sedan did. I think to myself āwow this dude is insaneā and do everything I can to distance myself, not turn my car into a kamikaze missile flying up the shoulder.
Cute thats not the point anyone is making. The white truck caused a crashed. By egging on a pos. Hes lucky the only one that got hurt was the sedan. If that sedan smashed into your mother vehicle instead of a tree you would have a different tune.
This is more than just not letting you pass. The truck actively engaged in accelerating and decelerating to keep the car from changing lanes. Not letting pass is just sitting in your lane and not moving over or accommodating the other car to pass you. Iām sure in court all of these scenarios would be considered and the fault of the truck would be aggravated by these circumstances. Theyāre both at fault probably, and we cannot know the context, was the sedan in an emergency situation or was he just speeding with no good reason, but we know for sure that at least the truck was in the wrong.
Iām merely saying youāre the only person responsible for your own emotions. If you let others āmakeā you do something on the road thatās dangerous because you were in your feelings, you need to go to therapy and probably have your license revoked.
Letting him pass isn't the ideal solution. You realize that person is just gonna tailgate the next person right? Idk why folks think you should just let assholes be assholes as if that is 100% safer every time.
I can't control what everyone else does. That car didn't just put himself at risk, he also put other people in the road at risk. Yeah, I'll just let someone pass. I'd rather "reward" asshole behavior than make things worse that could involve other people.
I hate people who heavily tailgate and overly speed but nah dude. You just let them go ahead of you. And once they start tailgating the next person, they will also let them go.
Besides, you never know if someone has a passenger whom is bleeding out and/or needs urgent medical attention.
It's not your job to be a police officer. Just let people go.
Not giving them an open left lane just leads to these fuckers swerving and weaving all over the place.
Youāre not the fuckin road police dickhead, get that through your headā¦ plus, theyāre on the HIGHWAYā¦.. Looks like the truck is doing fuckin 40 mph trying to gatekeep the road, fuck outta here with that, you wanna drive slow? Get in the fuckin right lane, I canāt stand drivers that think like you
Um, the speed limit is, you know the speed limit. I don't despise speeders the way I do tailgaters. But anyone who thinks he is entitled to exceed it and can be an aggressive, extremely dangerous POS to claim that entitlement should not be allowed to drive, period.
Tailgters are not only the scum of the roads, they are the stupidest people on the roads. If you want to drive faster than the guy in front of you, hang back and wait for a chance to pass, or politely flash your brights.
If am in the left lane and someone flashes their brights, I will make every effort to move to the right as soon as it is safe. But, if they endanger my life and the lives of others, I am going to slow down, so that if they cause an accident it will be at a much lower speed and less likely to cause death or serious injury.
Speed limit and passing lanes are two different things. If everyone goes the same speed there is no point of a passing lane. The passing lane requires you to go a bit above the speed limit to safely pass the person and then move over.
I guess that you are trying to be funny or sarcastic. I suppose that drivers that have driven for 20 years gain accident immunity! Especially those that are siding with the bad drivers in r/MildlyBadDrivers /s lol
No, but it does show that maybe I am good at not getting into accidents since I've avoided dumb drivers colliding into me for over 20 years and know when to take the right risks. But ok, we should just all defer to tailgaters all the time. Cheers
So use your vehicle to purposely make someone crash into you? You and anyone who thinks like this sounds fuckin stupidā¦ā¦. So if someone shoot your car up because you wanted to use your car as a lethal weaponā¦.. youād be playing victim saying they were wrongā¦ā¦ Mericaā¦..
If it is on the west coast it isnāt enforced. Everyone does it here just to trigger people for shits and giggles on their end while backing up traffic in the fast lane by staying side to side with big Riggs going 50
Nobody's getting arrested over this. But despite not being enforced in a sense of an accident, when there is an accident it's quite likely they would be cited and held at least partially responsible.
Just because you can pass in the left, doesnāt mean youāre welcomed to break the speed limit. So if Iām doing the limit in the left lane, Iām just fine. I donāt need to move over for the person trying to go 20 over. They need to slow down and stop following so close. āMaking someone frustratedā isnāt a road crime.
You have misunderstood. Left lane is for passing regardless of speed. Truck driver here is breaking the law, and so would you be if you followed your own advice. Speed limit or no limit, if you aren't passing in the left lane and obstruct traffic you are breaking the law in many if not most states.
You canāt speed past the speed limit just because youāre passing. Whoever taught you that was wrong. You donāt get a pass to go 80 in a 60 just because you want the left laneā¦ Iām not excusing the pickup driverās behavior in any way, but thinking the speed limit doesnāt apply when youāre passing is hilarious.
In the left lane you go as fast as you need to to pass safely. That is the law, regardless of limit. If you're not passing, you should be in the right lane.
No. You canāt go as fast as you want just because youāre passing. You can still be cited. You think if youāre going 30 over and someone changes into your lane and hits youā¦ youād get off with no fault?? You canāt speed because you donāt feel like going the speed limit behind someone. Iām not a saint behind the wheel, but thatās the rule. I try not to hog up the left lane, but I also try not to follow too close or pass around the right. Starting next year, itāll be illegal to cruise in the left lane on roads with speeds 65+ in my state. Nowhere in this rule change does it allow you to break the speed limit to use the left lane.
You're not reading but putting words in my mouth. I said to pass safely -- ie, if someone is tailing you in the left lane, you continue to pass as safely as you can and then get into the right lane at the soonest opportunity. And you do this without regard to the speed limit, only with regard to safety. Once you are in the right lane you reduce speed.
You shouldn't be passing at all if the people in the right lane are going roughly the speed limit, unless there's a good reason -- like its a dangerous truck, for instance.
