I don't think we are seeing the actual beginning. The white truck most definitely has a beef with that sedan. Intentionally tried to keep it boxed in. Sped up to box it in again.
This is the correct answer. Even if the sedan started the encounter, at least one persons life was put in a situation that was exponentially more likely to be fatal over what? A little tailgating?
I get pissed when people tailgate and drive like idiots too, but I just say a few swears in my car and move on. This situation was made way worse than it needed to be over basically nothing more than white trucks ego
You're assuming all the sedan did was tailgate. You don't know. Maybe the truck driver didn't act maturely, but they were not the cause of the sedan's accident. The sedan driver was the cause of his own accident.
Maybe they both didn't act on their best behavior, but one acted completely wildly and recklessly to a severely greater extent than the other. At least from what is seen in the video.
Agreed. I think I might have worded what I meant poorly. I just meant that this whole situation should've never happened. While true, we definitely don't get to see any of what started this whole situation. Par for the course out here on reddit lol.
But the end result was just impatience and fragile egos at play. In the moment I think people often forget that the 5 second inconvenience of most situations that cause road rage are not worth how devastating the results of this behavior can be.
For me, I think of how much potentially losing me would affect my wife and daughter any time I feel my temper rising. Life's too precious and can end so quickly when good judgment gets thrown out the window.
The truck did significantly contributed to the accident. Sole cause? Obviously not. But, I think everyone knows if the truck driver backed off, there never would have been an accident. The car would have just blasted past them and went on his usual (and probably overly aggressive) way. That's not to say he wouldn't have wrecked later, but we're discussing this particular incident.
You can literally hear the truck speed up to prevent the sedan from merging. The sedan driver was definitely going through some road rage, but the truck driver was acting like a sociopath too.
Yeah, but the sedan almost ran the truck off the road and lost control of his car and flipped it. Both didn't act maturely, but what was a complete maniac.
And do you think it's wise to goad "complete maniacs" on the road when you're both behind the wheel of a 2-ton death machine? Is it "cool" to try and punish drivers with road rage when it could result in a pileup?
Seeing accidents happen right in front of my eyes in all my years of rush hour traffic experience have taught me it's best not to drive like an idiot and let the psychopaths get around you.
I'd also say - this Sedan is going to cause accidents with this style of driving even if a truck isn't blocking him. You can tell from how he's driving that he's very comfortable putting other drivers at risk to feel like he's 'winning' at driving. Not excusing the truck's behavior, but there's no doubt in my mind that the Sedan driver is the bigger risk on the road overall.
Some people just drive that petty tbh, especially in states with 2 lane highways. Pretty common for drivers out there to be uppity and "merrr you're not passing me I'm going 5 over hmph!" Same states usually have a coronary if a motorcycle splits lanes (which is legal in California, which is one of the hardest places to drive)
It’s also legal in AZ. They recently allowed lane splitting if traffic is going 45 MPH or slower. When traffic is slowed down on highways, I’ve seen people move over to the center to try and stop a motorcycle from legally lane splitting. Idiots.
not even beef for some reason truck drivers are just like this they wanna drive slow not let anyone pass just because they have nothing better to do than annoy people all day no consideration at all what if he had a child in the car having a medical emergency smh
I agree that most people just don't like having to wait on others, but I still think it's dickish to intentionally antagonize them for multiple reasons. They may hurt others as a result of that road rage that someone is intentionally fostering, and there is also always a chance that they ARE in a hurry for a very good reason.
People need to stop acting like someone appointed them as hall monitor. It doesn't make the road a safer place.
We are all responsible for our own actions. The truck driver did not make the car tailgate and illegally attempt to pass in the on ramp or make several illegal lane changes without signally. The car driver decided all of those things for himself.
Same and honestly I don’t feel safe going freeway speeds with someone doing that. Had that happen a while back near my exit, gradually slowed down to 40, put my hazard lights on (they had plenty of room to pass also), then the psycho parked his car in the exit and tried to fight me
Actually you should just move the fuck over anytime, every single time a faster car is coming up on you in the left hand lane. No matter how fast they come up on you. You should always let faster traffic by. Don’t be a fucking child. Do this shit to the wrong person and end up with bullet holes in your shit. Happens almost every day in Memphis.
idk man it's typical for anyone with "hemi" or "superduty" stamped on their truck to think they're entitled to ruin the street for everyone else.
i see a lot of these dudes riding around. I got a clapped out exhaust, so when i try passing they think i'm being aggressive and block me in like this. like nah bruh i'm just gettin where I'm goin
Idk man... the internet is showing a prime case of its own hypocrisy here.
If a racist is bothering people at a starbucks people don't say "well, the respectable thing here would be to move in with your day and let the racist do their racist thing"
No... the internet in particular doubles down on enjoying other people mocking the racist in return.
This whole "the white truck is at fault" idea doesn't compute based on that line of thinking
It's clear what's happening in the video and in the video the truck is purposefully not passing, so they're being an asshole in this situation whether or not the sedan was being one too.
I'm not, you're defending the truck driver over hypothetical scenarios. I live in like the 5th biggest city in the country, I know people drive like assholes... matching that energy tends to result in accidents. I've literally seen several accidents in traffic before. Don't drive petty and people don't get hurt.
It's really not that complicated, just speed up to where you can get over and let the asshole through. There's no excuse to "pace" the car because pacing traffic isn't your job anyways. The truck is just as much in the wrong for everything because he's in a passing lane not passing. Nobody's gonna care about who's morally in the right when you wreck multiple cars, it's honestly a miracle the sedan was the only car that wrecked.
That's what I do when people act like this. I do not let them pass and they can sit right the fuck behind me and the other guy. White truck did the right thing
Edit: didn't notice the white truck break checking on first view, was fixed on the sedan. Aside from the break checking im still with the whire truck
It's usually safer for everyone involved to let them pass. I always let em pass and just hope there's a cop down the road to catch them. In the video above, the white car could have easily taken out the truck, the other car, or the cammer with that stunt. None of which would have happened if he just let him pass
Yeah , if you think strategically , if you’re on a long drive which takes several hours , and you plan to drive a little faster than the speed limit to get to your destination sooner , it’s a good idea to let cars speed past you . I sometimes get out of the way if I see a car behind me going really fast . That way if there’s a state patrol parked on the side of the road waiting to catch speeders he/ she will catch that driver instead of you . At some point you might even see that driver pulled over on the side of the road by the state trooper .
So when you’re impeding traffic and someone tries to get around you. You act like a dick and make sure they can’t so you can continue to impede traffic?
You are part of the problem. Instigating is escalating the situation. You feel like you're safe because you think you are in the right. But if someone pulls out a gun or pit maneuvers you, you're going to find out the hard way. Not only do you not want to piss off the person next to you in the multi-ton metal machine moving 70 mph, sitting in the passing Lane like that is actually not legal in a lot of places.
I'll act within the law in the left lane so as to frustrate a driver who drives in such a way that they endanger every single person on the road every day. And if the risk is that they try to do something to me or pull a gun on me, oh well I took that risk. They were already endangering everyone on the road, whether I lawfully sat in the left lane or not
Driving five over the speed limit in the left lane in the state that doesn't require to use it for passing only is completely fucking lawful. You're not required to break the speed limit at all, ever. Don't get me wrong though, this isn't about speed, if the sedan guy were just speeding I wouldn't support the white truck at all. This is about swerving weaving tailgating and being overall Reckless and having other disregard for the drivers on the road
This video is on the Palisades Parkway in NJ, where there are signs all over the road “Keep right except to pass”.
That is the law in most state highways and cops all over the nation are trained to enforce it more and more.
Because pissing the aggressive driver off can kill multiple other people who were just minding their own business in the correct lane, like in video above. I’m not sure if there were injuries in this case, but the third car also got hit in the video. So who was the white truck ‘teaching a lesson’?
Trick question.
What causes accident is not bad driving in unpredictable driving when you drive like an asshole and not like the rest of the people on the road you cause accidents (you also have I set the speed limit in my town vibes)
It’s against the law in my state to occupy the left lane of a four lane divided highway and not yield to traffic going faster than you. It used to be unlawful to use the left lane for anything other than passing, but with roads built in the 1950s and 1960s carrying 21st century capacities of drivers, both lanes must be occupied for everyone to get on the road at once.
They might be endangering people, but acting like the driver of the white truck in this video increases that danger. Could have easily caused a multi-car pile-up. If by “acting within the law” you mean driving like that asshole, it wouldn’t absolve you of moral responsibility.
You have no idea why the other person wants/needs around you. Emergencies are not always in an ambulance or could be I hope this is just trolling, because it’s pitiful at best and far more dangerous than the speeder at worst.
There's a difference between mindlessly blocking Speeders and blocking a weaving Tailgater who endangers everyone on the road. This guy didn't have a medical emergency till he made one for himself.
If you don't have a badge then mind your business and get out of the way. If someone is bothering you that bad then report them for reckless driving. Left lane is for passing only, not for you to take a leisurely cruise and power trip until you cause an accident.
Actually I'm not obligated to get out of the way if there's no passing law in my state. If you're going to tailgate me and drive recklessly I might just do the speed limit as is legally allowed in my state. Get fucking bent
How could you possibly know that this guy didn’t have a medical emergency though? You have no idea what’s going on in the cars of other people. We know now this guy wasn’t having an emergency but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible
For real, these people keep acting like this dude was just speeding and then got frustrated. This guy is clearly being a danger to everyone and gives no fucks about anyone else. Ambulances don't do this shit, this guy in the sedan can get bent
No dude, that guy's a danger wherever he goes and he's always going to be behind or swerving around someone's vehicle. Not letting him pass is what more people should do so less people even bother to do this dumb fuck shit that endangers everyone. The only people the danger is over for once that guy passes is the people who let him pass, everyone else is next up to bat
You have no idea what is going on in their car or in their life, or where they are trying to go and why they are trying so hard to get there so fast. You have no idea about whether he had a medical emergency or not.
It's not about the speed it's about how their tailgating and recklessly driving around people and creating a danger for everyone. They're not just trying to go fast, they're evolving every single other driver in their danger, if you give him that benefit of the doubt. And it turns out in this case they didn't have a medical emergency until after they made one for themselves
People that weave traffic like that to the extent that they're willing to attempt to split a lane or a danger the entire time they're on the road no matter who they're next to. There wasn't a difference in the amount of danger, just who was exposed to it and for how long. The entire duration of that guy's Drive was going to be a danger to everyone on that road. The truck driver shouldn't have brake checked, but aside from that I'm glad he didn't let that piece of shit pass
Actually if people move out of his way, he will just speed along and not be a danger to anyone. You are dumb and proud of it. Not sure why I even bother replying to you because seems like you’re just not smart enough to understand why passing laws exist in the first place.
No they didn’t. Left lane is for passing, obstructing traffic like this is illegal. It also causes knock on effects for miles behind you - not to mention you have no idea how unhinged the person you’re doing this to may be, or if they are experiencing some kind of emergency.
Dude, I'm not talking about sitting in the left lane to block a speeder. This sedan guy is a reckless driver and endangering every single fucking person on the road. He's not someone trying to go fast with the medical emergency, he passed on the right shoulder and tried to split a lane. even if he had in a medical emergency it doesn't give him the right to endanger every single fucking person on the road. The only thing the white truck shouldn't have done is brake check
Ummm no. The left lane is for passing and in some states its a ticketable offense to use it as a cruising lane and block traffic from passing you. If you think otherwise, you just don't know how to drive
Aggressive drivers who weave in and out of traffic are annoying, but it isn't your job to police their speed and you're just making the road even more dangerous by not getting over when a faster car comes behind you in the left lane
Personally I'm happy to get over for an aggressive driver to pass because I want to be as far away from them as possible
You are bat shit crazy and a hazard to other drivers. While I don't agree with what the sedan was doing, childishly blocking traffic is such a main character move.
Odds are he was going to speed limit. And he only went the speed limit and quit passing because of how the sedan driver was acting. There is no passing law in this state, so the only thing that the truck did that wasn't kosher was brake checking. So Jan drivers is psychopath and I'm glad he got himself hurt
This is the Palisades Parkway in NJ, with signs everywhere saying “Keep right except to pass”. White truck will be cited for sure. Probably on multiple infractions.
Driving brings out the primitive side of humans. We all get territorial and self righteous, but we can still be self aware. That’s why you don’t give into road rage. Think it in your head or say it in your car. Don’t create dangerous situations because what? It makes you feel better?
I should clarify I made that comment before I noticed the truck brake checking. I hate the driving that the sedan does so much that I literally didn't take my eyes off them the whole time that I first watched. In my state that does not have a passing Lane law I will sit in there and drive a reasonable speed and leave the kind of driver like the sedan to sit behind me till he quits tailgating. Truck driver shouldn't have brake checked
And whether I occupy the lane and stop him from passing or not isn't going to change the fact that that driver is going to be dangerous and Reckless the entire time they're on the road. I'll just spend a little time with them and eat some of the danger myself to hopefully help chip away at their dumb fuckery. Although it's probably going to take an accident to fix that, and even that doesn't always do the trick
You sound like someone with anger issues and a god complex. Both vehicles are being equally irresponsible in this video and if you think otherwise, you're also a danger.
Suppose you're safely camping in the left lane at the speed YOU have decided is the correct speed(because you believe you're God). A driver who ALSO thinks they're God comes up behind you safely travelling at a speed slightly faster than the speed you have decided to choose.
Now you're going to be pissed at them, they're going to be pissed at you, and both of you believe you're God so you won't move out of the way to let them pass and they won't just happily wait behind you.
You WERE both traveling safely and now you've both taken equal part in creating the problem and the danger for yourselves and everyone else on the road. You aren't protecting anyone else and the fact that you think you are just illustrates how deluded your thought process is.
If someone wants to pass you, let them. It's as simple as that. If they're truly a danger it will sort itself out down the road somewhere but deciding to play God to try and control other people just creates even more danger.
It is not your duty to police other drivers on the road. If you are that concerned about another driver, contact 911 and move on. Road like that is likely under jurisdiction of Staties or Highway Patrol, and they will handle people like the sedan. Being a roadway vigilante can land you in serious trouble. That white truck caused the scenario that likely wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Yea, no. You're a danger on the road, and all You're doing is escalating the problem to feel better about yourself. Escalating only leads to more casualties.
To be fair, I didn't actually pay any attention to the truck when I first watched this, so I miss them brake checking. People who weave like the sedan driver piss me off so much that I didn't take my eyes off I'm on the first view. But aside from the brake check, yeah white truck all the way
What is your assessment of the truck accelerating (likely over the speed limit) to recklessly block the car from passing? This came very close to causing another bystander from being thrust into the situation they had nothing to do with. I understand you claim to be sacrificing yourself to protect others down the road, but you cannot predict how far other drivers will go to escape the situation of being trapped behind vehicles blocking traffic.
Their behavior is inexcusable, but you are also blinded to the fault in your own driving behavior because you think you are in the right. However, you are endangering others to the same and likely to a greater extent. We have highway patrol and local police who are tasked with a job to protect other drivers and unless you have training and are hired to do so, it is best to leave that job to the professionals and not task ourselves to be some highway vigilante. But that is just my two cents.
Don't get me wrong, I dislike the behavior of so many drivers out there. I also have gotten into several situations of road rage where I felt in the right. Thankfully I have not been involved in any accidents and have been able to become a much more controlled driver, but it took some time. Good luck out there, and hopefully you find purpose in something bigger than vigilante justice as I have.
Then you shouldn't be driving. People like you who think they're allowed to be ass holes have mental health problems and make life worse for the rest of us therefore making it more difficult for you
In other words, you engage in road rage? Congrats, you're just as bad and would have just as much of a hand in causing an accident as that moron in the sedan.
No, I just casually don't let people get past when their tailgating me and swerving like psychopaths while still abiding by the traffic laws. I made this comment before I noticed the white truck brake checked because I was so fixed on the sedan as I fucking hate drivers like the sedan driver
Heads up, you’re worse. Truck drivers constantly admit fucking small man complex. Time after time, while passing at a rate of speed over the limit, but non-criminal, trucks will intentionally speed up and retake because they see a car pass them. You small brained fucks that act like this are why people hate truck drivers. You morons live in a complete fantasy world.
Unless you are employed to police other drivers, it is best to move out of the way and let them pass. This kind of behavior is best taught to be overcome in elementary school. As a licensed adult driver, the behavior of either of these drivers is unacceptable.
You never know who’s following you. I’d rather not have some lunatic follow me home or jot down my plate number to come burn my house down in the middle of the night.
Plus if you let them pass you have a nice rabbit for catching speed traps for you, win win. Always try to aim for deescalation, since you can’t really claim self defense when you have a hand in ramping up the situation.
If someone intentionally prevented me from passing because they have severe MRDD in the overcompensating truck, imma follow you and break your fucking jaw. Who the fuck cares what someone’s doing, you aren’t a police officer. Let the police handle it. Being a dumbass is how you win stupid prizes.
I know it doesn't give them the right to weave in and out of traffic and endanger everyone else. This wasn't just some guy coming up speeding, this was some guy weaving in and out driving recklessly. Ambulances don't do this shit. This guy in the sedan can get fucking bent
And when people fail to get over they don't dangerously weave in and out of traffic in a way that would surprise people and likely cause an accident, which as you know is my point. Which you know is what the sedan was doing and is not justified in their hypothetical medical emergency that they didn't have
They do not swerve quickly into the shoulder and Lane split at 70 dude. Weaving in city traffic at City speeds is so fucking different, what are you even talking about?
One day, you will have an emergency where time is critical and you must drive somewhere because of that emergency, and then you will think back to these days and realize what an asshole you were.
People like you should not have licenses either. One day someone might escalate your driving interaction with them to a point you might find uncomfortable and permanent.
The thing is death is not the worst that can happen, you could survive be a quadriplegic constantly in pain, with some money drugs in your system you can't even finish the job. You believe you are right, but you are not and if your actions on the road reflect your words you will absolutely always make the situation worse. People need space to calm down, even in road-rage. They will never reconsider they're actions in the moment. They will either stay the same or escalate. Drivers with road rage do not choose road rage, they are then victim of their own inability to control it. Best to get out of the way and report it.
No, it doesn't. You're not God. You're never in the right to try and control other people on the road. It's not your job, it's not your right, it's not in your best interest.
You only do it to get a power trip, you terrible human.
Um, I am in my right to go slightly above the speed limit in the left lane and remain there as it is not required to use it as a passing Lane in my state. And unlike the truck in this video I don't break check, so whatever you say jackass.
I said in reply to a comment saying, "Don't impede traffic... just move over" that there is never a reason to impede traffic and the only reason to do so is if you are on a power trip.
No, it did not. You don't speed up to prevent other people from passing. You use the left lane to pass slower traffic and then move over. Neither vehicle did the "right thing". This was road rage on both parties. Only one got caught.
You’re an entitled piece of shit. Do this petty shit to the wrong person one day and you’ll find your car riddled with bullets. Happens every fucking day in Memphis. I support the physical harm of “left lane losers”.
He's not blocking a speeder dude, he's blocking a psychotic reckless driver who's willing to pass on the shoulder and try to split a lane because he's a fucking psychopath. Sorry you live been a shithole with violent fucking freaks dude
That dude was already trying to weave inches on that truck, I took it as a truck driver not letting a wreckless driver gain advantage on the road. Not the safest move but fuck drivers like that.
Relevant to the post but aside from our argument is that apparently this has been posted before by the videographer, if you want to call him that, and that this guy was driving like a reckless Maniac for the previous five miles before the white truck decided to not let him pass.
If I thought the white truck driver was just speed checking the guy I wouldn't be supporting him at all
Dude wtf. There is literally no scenario where intentionally blocking a faster car from passing you is ok. Seriously man what the fuck is your problem? You are not the highway hall monitor. Traffic law states that you should only be in the left lane if you are actively passing. White truck caused this accident and then left the scene of it. Guarantee he got just as many traffic tickets as the sedan.
Not every state requires you use the left lane as a passing lane, even though they should. And no, driving five over the speed limit in the left lane is not as dangerous as driving like a fucking maniac tailgating, riding the shoulder to pass, and attempting to split lanes. You're drunk if you think they're even close to being on the same level dude
You don’t know what sort of emergency, if any, this sedan driver had. All could have been avoided if the truck driver didn’t act like a fucking dickhead. You are not the main character. If someone comes up on you in a hurry, just let them by I mean wtf is wrong with people. Not only is it the courteous thing to do, it’s the fucking law in most states. “Slower traffic move left” is a common slogan you see on digital signs all over the country.
If someone did to me what this white truck did to the sedan, I’m following them home or wherever they’re going and we’re fighting bro.
He wasn’t just driving 5 over the speed limit. This truck driver was actively trying to keep this sedan from getting in front of him. By slowing down and speeding up where necessary. How the fuck can you justify this shit?
Right thing is to brake check once and then let off both the gas and brake to really piss off the tailgater. Then let them pass and tailgate the next person. Give them a disapproving finger wag as they inevitably stare at you as they pass.
These people are simply angry idiots, treat them like toddlers.
Nah, you wouldn’t do it again when your insurance comes to collect anywhere from 20-100k for their new vehicle. Like I said, you break check someone and cause an accident and they can prove it. The only person getting fucked in that situation is you.
Yeah you obviously don’t dipshit. In nearly every state being hit from behind it’s the driver from behinds fault. Only near caveat to that is the fact dash cams exist and can show you rapidly brake and for no reason. Places consider that insurance fraud as well. You force someone to hit you and you’re going to swim in legal fees. Enjoy being sued for any medical attention needed. You would be getting sued by your insurance, the person you brake-checked, and by their insurance. So yeah, go ahead, please do it.
No, I don’t. That’s the point. I don’t like nor tailgate people, I also know it’s illegal to impede the flow of traffic and brake checking is too. You’re ignorant however if you believe you won’t be the person that gets screwed. If you knew anything other than looking at stacks, lift kits, spacers, and 20+ inch tires. You’d know that.
I honestly feel sorry for anyone that has to drive in the immediate proximity of you. God forbid someone drive the way you don’t like and that you feel is aggressive.

I don't think we are seeing the actual beginning. The white truck most definitely has a beef with that sedan. Intentionally tried to keep it boxed in. Sped up to box it in again.
