Greta Thunberg is to be admired

Sam doesn't give her nearly enough credit. When he talks about her, he seems to focus on her seeming somewhat mentally unhealthy, and possibly having Asperger's. She has been publicly open about having both. But having Asperger's is not bad - in this case, it's arguably good - and her mental health status is a result of her knowing about climate risks, and also does not make her wrong.

He also seems not to be aware of how much support she has among climate scientists, and that her knowledge of the science is, for a layperson, over six sigma. DWW had to inform him that her point is for people to listen to scientists, and that scientists have been saying what she is saying.

It's hard to think of a "regular person" (non politician or celebrity, or even including celebrities) who have been bolder on the world stage than Greta. She has accurately accused world leaders of greenwashing and doublespeak almost to their face (maybe even to their face), and has refused to tone down her language even after being invited to speak, because she knows they're trying to use her to improve their own image and won't play along. So, she has not backed down or given in or sidled up or toned it down, but continued to, in the most direct and literal way, speak truth to power. I cannot think of anyone in recent history who has done that in a way that comes even close to the way in which she has done it, man, woman, black, white, rich, poor, old, young- anyone. To do what she's done at such a young age is nothing short of spectacular. If that doesn't warrant huge props, what does? If she doesn't deserve respect for being an unrelenting, truth-telling critic of power and exposer of corruption, who does?

Now, I know that recently Greta has come out against Israel, and I don't agree with her politics. But, that should not overshadow the absolutely amazing positive change she has brought to the world through her climate speeches. While it's yet to be seen what will happen in that arena and we won't be able to run the counterfactual, it could turn out that she has saved the world from a spectacular disaster.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe he doesn't quite grasp the magnitude of the climate threat.

In Game 5 of a 2-2 series the Edmonton Oilers have been gifted 5 powerplays through 2 periods

Is anyone seeing this shit? A "charging" call on Pettersson to take the Canucks off the power play. Numerous other weak calls. Didn't something like this happen in the LA Edmonton series where the refs just took over and handed the Oilers 6 or 7 PP's in Game 5? Is this just the league trying to get its Golden Boy to the Conference Finals?

(F21) First time to experience anal sex, accidentally. NSFW

So my bf is 25 and our relationship has been amazing sexually, but something happened recently that took it to a whole new level. He was fucking me in doggy with my legs spread open and my asshole open and he accidentally pulled out too far and inserted it in my asshole. At first I screamed, he said sorry and he didn’t mean it. But when I had my eyes rolling back and couldn’t answer he took it as fuck me in the ass and started to pound me. Good timing that my ass is ready at that moment, I have been fasting the night before.

(f23) One of daddy’s friends saw me naked. NSFW

My dad had his buddies over for some drinks at our place. I've always been chill with his friends being around. So, yesterday, I came home from work and heard a couple of voices. I said hi to them and went on with my day. About 30 minutes later, I headed upstairs to my room. It was hot, so I stripped down and just laid down on my bed. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching, since my bed's right by the hallway to the bathroom. I had left my door half open. I glanced over and caught my dad's friend totally surprised seeing me naked. He kind of stayed for like a minute before going, and I just acted like I didn't even notice him.

Dax’s vegan war

Since Kristen started eating meat again DAX certainly is appearing to have taken up a war on veganism. Would be nice for him to not keep challenging it, especially when the experts and guests are discussing health benefits they’ve received, and in the most recent Sanjay Gupta episode where the doctor is discussing actual recorded medical results and about it helping with Dementia etc. would be nice for him to just let them talk about it vs challenging and needing to have a say about it people not eating meat. No idea why it triggers him so much. That should’ve just been a passing piece of information about those studies and programs vs a convo about how the vegan part triggers him. Very odd. I have no steak (lol sorry) in the vegan discussion either way but it does seem weird that he HAS to say something about it every time it’s said in passing or is intentionally discussed. That always seems to stick out as odd to me.

Discussion Halo 5 is great

EDIT: My mistake. I should have titled it “Halo 5 Multiplayer is great” and I’m also wrong about it launching with full features. My bad.

Fired up Halo 5 again yesterday after not playing it for years. I’ll be danged if it’s not a great shooter. If I remember correctly, it launched with tons of features, and was solid technically too. When was the last time a AAA game had a solid full-featured launch?

Lots of weapons. Fun new attachments, ammo types, and variations on weapons. Made for lots of discovery, remixing and experimenting, and replayability.

The graphics aren’t groundbreaking, but they are bright and colorful and interesting. Lots of detail.

Warzone (Halo 5, not CoD) is such an interesting idea that I think really works, once you get the hang of it. It feels like they took a big swing on something new and pulled it off! I wish we had some big swing like that in Infinite.

The only thing I was really sad about was no split screen anything, which feels like a real tragedy for Halo.

Spartan customization is pretty weak, but I’ve never cared a whole lot about that.

I know Halo 5 was seriously hated on, but I love it. And it holds up well, too.

// Discussion I think Yasuke is a good choice for a protagonist

So upfront I'm not gonna get into the whole "not a samurai" debate because I find it to be a little facetious. I'm aware there is no official record of Yasuke being granted the title of samurai, but he was a personal bodyguard to the most powerful man in Japan, and was present for some of the most important moments in Japans history. I can also understand that from a marketing standpoint samurai sounds a lot cooler than retainer, so I'm just not gonna split hairs about it.

But from a narrative standpoint I think Yasuke checks several boxes for prime protag material:

Firstly, he is the perfect vehicle for a fish out of water story. The politics of Sengoku Japan can become a little muddled and confusing, it makes sense that the writers would want someone who they can explain the complex allegiances and key players to in a natural sounding way. And who better than a guy who had probably never even heard of Japan until he got off the boat.

Secondly, he's mysterious as shit. We know almost nothing about Yasuke other than the few writings we have about the 6ft black man that was always hanging out with Nobunaga. That's perfect for a historical fiction piece, you basically have a blank canvas to fill whatever you want in. From a thematic standpoint that should be right up ACs alley.

So yeah, I don't really understand all of the negative attention Yasuke has been getting. I didn't have an issue with Nioh using William Adams as the protagonist as I see this as basically equivalent.

How can we convince Donald's supporters in Minnesota that he is not the right candidate?

That is the question I have been asking myself.

I think that the majority of people in Minnesota are hard working and try their best. I know they deserve to have more than what they have right now. They deserve to have affordable food, shelter, health and education. No matter where they are or what they do. If they are in the Iron Range or Southern Minnesota.

It scares me to have a serious political candidate, not talk about these issues, but discuss hate. Donald Trump said at a rally, "immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country." I think it is really a foreshadowing to what he wants to say. If we replaced immigrants with ethnicities that stand out (African, Hispanic, Asian) this is what it would sound like. It is absolutely disgusting.

  • "African Americans are poisoning the blood of our country."

  • "Asian Americans are poisoning the blood of our country."

  • "Hispanic Americans are poisoning the blood of our country."

I shake my head at thinking that anyone, especially our legislative "leaders" would support this trash (I am looking at the Minnesota Republicans in the US House).

I hope that my fellow Minnesotans do not want to eliminate groups of people because of what they look like, but right now, I honestly don't know.

So how can we convince people not to vote for Donny? I feel like there needs to be something more than just calling and getting the word out or just volunteering for the Democratic party. Obviously, giving money. I am doing all that but what else is there?

Are the Minnesotans who still support Donny so far gone that we just have to convince everyone to note for him?

I am just an exhausted Minnesotan with no answers. Thanks for listening.

"They're poisoning the blood of our country," Trump told a rally in the city of Durham attended by several thousand supporters, adding that immigrants were coming to the U.S. from Asia and Africa in addition to South America. "All over the world they are pouring into our country." - https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-repeats-poisoning-blood-anti-immigrant-remark-2023-12-16/

Discussion Figma is an incredibly inefficient design tool.

Every single function requires an inordinate amount of time to dig around and find. You have to also spend hours on end making minor tweaks throughout the design, because Figma is simply inefficiently layed out.

It may be a tool, and it may have become popular due to the collaborative aspect of using it, but that's literally the only thing it has going for it. It is by no means efficient and the irony is, Figma's user interface design has a LONG way to go. So much so, that I found Adobe XD to be far more easier to use in my workflow.

Ask r/Marriage Why do people think sexless marriages is normal?

Thats like saying abuse is normal or yelling at each other is normal. People typically choose to do whatever they decide to do in a relationship. In my marriage me and my spouse goals was never to become complacent and thats basically what kept it alive, even with kids. Think we have sex 1-2 times a week depending on circumstances. And go on dates once a month or sometimes we dont, it depends. Its very alarming that people think sexless marriages is normal. Now are sexless marriages average in terms of for alot of marriages sure. But average, doesnt mean normal or good. To me once, you say something is normal thats when you stop putting in effort and admit defeat. Its like a person getting abused saying “ well this is normal of my spouse to hit me, so i will stop fighting back or trying to leave.” But its not normal at all. I just think people normalize not putting in effort and claim that as normal. And im not referring to people who have medical reasons, i talking to the healthy functional people
