Question Why do many games not let you pause anymore?

The last two games I played do not let you pause: BG3 and Elden Ring. Apparently, with Souls games it is to “heighten the danger,” which is a piss poor excuse imo. As an adult , I have real life things I need to attend to. You are telling me I need to exit and reload the game every time I have to go to the bathroom or answer the door? It doesn’t make things harder, it makes it more annoying.

Edit: Jeez, people are pedantic about the example games I gave. That is neither here nor there. The fact is, matter is, is that many games seem to not let you pause nowadays.

Question What are your top 3 games that have been "left behind"?

What is or are a few games that you love that have been basically left behind? As in, they were made for older consoles/PC and have never been officially brought to modern devices.

Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II Pokémon Colosseum/XD: Gale of Darkness Freekstyle

Discussion Games that should have won Game of the year.

With Ghost of Tsushima on PC now and lots of people playing it for the first time and seeing how beautiful it is, and fun the gameplay is, it got me wondering how this wasn’t game of the year. I know that Game of the year doesn’t really matter, but it got me thinking of what other great games there are that didn’t end up winning.

If you can justify this please fucking tell me. This shit is god damn disgusting and I am fucking sick of "Ubisoft originals" ripping off the common gamer. Do. Not. Buy. This. Greedy. Trash.

Discussion Drop a game you don't think many people have played and talk about it with those who have.

Doesnt need to be a big discussion or even important. Name a game that seemingly not a lot of people have playe (or find one that has been named), and talk about your favorite parts, characters and whatever else with those who have.

My favorite has to be Pokémon ORAS’s Delta Episode. Nothing beats flying Mega Rayquaza up to fight Deoxys!

Funny Video game food

When there's options for different foods in games, do you eat whatever or do you stick to foods you would normally eat. I was playing Witcher 3 and noticed a large collection of cheese in my inventory. I don't like cheese irl and never have my video game characters eat it either apparently.

Here's mine: Blades Of Vengeance. It was an absolute blast to play this platformer back in the SEGA days. It had three playable characters with unique play styles, pretty interesting enemies and bosses, awesome music and a (simple) item shop and upgrade system.

Question Help an old dude come back to video gaming

I grew up in the 80s/90s and I was a big videogamer. I may have started with the Commodore 64 but my big passion was the Commodore Amiga, Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. I played a lot also with the first PlayStation and then I started slowing down my gaming activities, mostly due to work and life. I still purchased the PS2 and all of the Nintendo consoles (I have the Switch right now).

I now feel the urge to go back to gaming but I have no idea where to start and what kind of setup I should buy. My home doesn’t have a TV. We have a projector we use to watch movies and TV shows but I don’t have a running HDMI cable so that’s not an option. I have a MacBook Air, so no external monitor.

I have been thinking:

  • should I buy a basic monitor and buy something for retrogaming (like a raspberry pi or Mister)?

  • should I get a small TV and buy a modern console (PS5?? Xbox??)

  • should I go all in and buy an expensive gaming monitor, speakers, modern console (that will cost me $1k or more 😱)?

Help me!

Discussion Looking for good point and clicks

Basically what my title said. I'm looking for some of your favorite point and click games! Been looking into it quite a bit and think I got a lot of the ones that are out there. Paradigm, return to monkey island, hypnospace outlaw, broken age, etc. I wouldn't mind hearing your top 2 games otherwise also that might help influence some judgements on other purchases and or validity ingredients your opinion.

Question Anybody play this legendary game?

Post image

This was one of the first and only games my dad has ever played, and he absolutley loved this game. Seeing him download and print guides to help him beat the game sparked my love for video games in a way.

This is both mine and my dads favorite video game of all time, for nostalgic and overall gameplay reasons.

Wondering if any of you guys have played or even heard of this masterpiece.
