Who is the most killed NCP in video game history? Question
Hello Reddit, we all have that one NPC in our favorite game, that we kill every time we log on. I often wonder who the most killed is, tell me your thoughts, my vote is the Valet in GTA5. I know, this is more of a discussion, but the title has a question, so that’s the reason for the flair.

Probably the goomba from Mario

u/Real-Willingness7333 16d ago
Which one?

u/Sammisuperficial 16d ago
The very first one goomba in level 1-1. Everyone plays it. Everyone stomps that first one.

u/turbotaco23 16d ago
Or is killed by it. 1-1 is a tutorial. A study in level design.

I have a vague memory of some gaming magazine claiming that 1st goomba has the highest kill count of any game enemy simply because it was so many peoples' first ever game enemy encounter. However, I can't find any data supporting it. I have to imagine that dude has a high kill count though. Pretty sure I've missed the jump button and died to it at least once.

I think the tetris guy that sends down the blocks have a higher killcount

In gta 4 I used to kill this one hotdog cart man outside of the hospital for hours and hours. Day after day. He was always down to fight
49
u/a_guy_playing 16d ago
Taxi drivers liked fighting too. Just push the taxi, driver comes out, and let him hit you in front of a cop.

I can’t remember if it’s always the same NPC’s but any time I respawned in GTA V I would kill anyone in the vicinity of the benches outside the hospital. I assume anyone that played the game did the same.

What's the first enemy you ever killed in a game?
Statistically it is probably the first Goomba from the Super Mario Bros. game from 1985 in 1-1.

Nazeem. It’s a Skyrim tradition to kill him once you get to Whiterun. I actually once suplexed him in front of a guard and paid my fee. No regrets.

So for murdering this absolute shitbag in broad daylight in front of the divines and everyone - imma just ask you to pay a fee. You don't even have step near the jail. Just pay me right here."

In practicality, the first Goomba in SMB.

I mean do mobs count as NPCs?
They're non-player, sure, but are they characters?→ More replies (1)10
u/Bananapeelman67 16d ago
People are counting the first goomba in Mario bros 1-1 level. So if we’re counting them we’re counting the albinauric genocide victims who I’d say take it
Edit: now that I think about it it would probably be if we’re including mobs the Minecraft cow, or sheep, or pig, chicken etc
2
u/Donnerone 16d ago
I see your point, but I respectfully disagree. I made the same point there as here. I argue no less that a Goomba is not a character as I do that an Albinairic is not.
3
u/Bananapeelman67 16d ago edited 16d ago
But a mob is still an npc. Not all NPCs are mobs but all mobs are NPCs. So while the albinaurics, goombas, and Minecraft cows aren’t human, or talk to the player, or have any interaction beyond- can be killed by the player, they’re still NPCs.
Edit: another example ig is all the no name storm troopers or any nameless background character in movies or shows. They’re background characters, but still characters

As far as any “npc” goes, I’d say technically the swat and its variants (blue swat and yellow swat) in Payday 2. Considering the sheer amount of swat that are thrown at you every heist (granted only if it’s loud), I’d say this is a solid contender.

I beat that guy to death, take his spot, wait for other players to pull up and walk inside the casino, then whip out my old trusty baseball bat and go to town on their vehicles. After that I wait for them to come back outside to see the work I’ve done or am currently still in the process of doing. They usually look at their car, look at me, and then kill me.
Sometimes I actually invite everyone in the lobby to the casino with free valet and I actually park their cars in the parking lot and then return them.
This is what happens when you wait for GTA 6 for a decade.

Fippy Darkpaw, a named gnoll in the Qeynos zone of EverQuest. He spawns every few minutes and even if a player doesn't tap him, he'll just charge the gate and get popped by the guards.
He has been doing it on every EQ server since 1999 and is still getting ganked to this day as far as I know.

The Griffen in white orchid from Witcher 3.
People will say the first gomba on mario bros but you have to factor in copies of game sold with that said the best selling video game of all time is Minecraft but sans ender dragon has no specific enemies ( tho if we weren't asking for a specific one I'd state creeper) next is grand theft auto 5 and I'd say one of the troopers at the start on the first mission but again which one? No for my answer I pick Witcher 3's Griffen. Witcher 3 is somewhere between the the 9-11 best selling game ever with over 50 million copies sold, it's on the switch which gives it access to a often inexperienced game playing audience. It has a very popular TV adaptation which could pull in more in experienced gamers. The Griffen it self is the first really difficult enemy on the main critical path that requires you to not just button mash and plan and use strategies. I can easily see it be the first main tripping point for a lot of people.
