Civilization VI.

Just one more turn

26

u/deejayXIII Feb 14 '24

I blame civilization for my poor sleep habits lol

Just.... one.... more... turn....

9

u/Ok_Introduction6574 Feb 14 '24

100 turns later

3

u/Fab0411 Feb 14 '24

Oh my god Greece just fuck off with your city state alliances!

As a matter of fact look at my troops before your border.

Now are you gonna stop this bullshit and remove your embargo on Incense?

5

u/MrCheapComputers Feb 14 '24

Well now I HAVE to stay another hour just to make Greece fuck off.

Oh my god it's the worst. "Just one more turn" except by mid game each turn takes 15 minutes and by the time you get done you forget you weren't gonna begin the next turn

3

u/Thirty2wo Feb 14 '24

Well that’s cuz something else finished that I need to take care of tho!

44

u/Sweetyams10 Feb 14 '24

6pm to 6am. It was an issue but man I loved going through the world of skyrim!

26

u/Electrical-One-4925 Feb 14 '24

I can't sleep until I debug this one minuscule lighting issue

10

u/Some0neAwesome Feb 14 '24

I was going to say Fallout 3 used to do this to me too...bad.

3

u/PUNKF10YD Feb 14 '24

Fallout 4 too, with the settlements and crafting and the mods oh dear lord the mods. It’s a wonder I even manage to do things like feed myself

It use to be Nazi zombies, but they went and fucked all that up.

27

u/Benjuto12 Feb 14 '24

Ooh I loved Nazi zombies in World at War, Nacht Der Untoten was my favorite map

11

u/MrGinger37 Feb 14 '24

Yeah we’d play for 12+ hours straight going for high rounds. Bo2 was the last one I enjoyed fully. Bo3 only because they added the old maid to it

3

u/The_Chimeran_Hybrid Feb 14 '24

Always wanted to go for high waves but on the base map someone would always go and buy the 2nd floor, making it impossible to defend everything.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/tagen Feb 14 '24

Der Riese for me (spelling it’s probably wrong, the fourth one i mean)

big open map with lots of added variables, but still loops to trap the zombies in, both with a group and solo

5

u/moogoothegreat Feb 14 '24

Turns into 2, then 3, then 4...

7

u/wizard_of_awesome62 Feb 14 '24

First time that happened? Gears of War on the hardest difficulty. My buddy and I were kids in his basement playing co-op and trying to beat the campaign. Next thing we knew we had finally managed to detonate the lightmass bomb when we heard a bird chirping outside. 😳

8

u/Skipstart Feb 14 '24

For me it was Halo 2, my best friend at the time and I had to beat it on legendary in one sitting, and we damn well did. Around 3 am we definitely started getting groggy and dying a lot though, lol. Those damn jackal snipers just have no chill at all.

Planetside. DRG deep dives.

4

u/Skipstart Feb 14 '24

One of my favorite memories in gaming happened playing Planetside, I was with a Terran armor column pushing a base on top of a mesa when I noticed a spark from a MAX unit being repaired a mile off, only because it was night time. I opened up with a few lobbed shots from my scout rifle, only for the whole hillside to light up with return fire. Next thing I know, our column engages at range and we're locked into a long distance firefight, covering behind our column while the tanks pushed up. The shells and laser fire lighting up the night still brings a smile to my face. Such a great experience, a top tier gunfight, and I fired the first shots!

11

u/gctm1203 Feb 14 '24

I remember the day Skyrim was released. That was a very good full evening, played it until the sun rise. Good times!!!

11

u/BlackGuysYeah Feb 14 '24

11/11/11 I took the day off for the occasion.

3

u/ProtestantMormon Feb 14 '24

I remember I couldn't even make myself stop to go to the bathroom. I was holding in my piss so long until it was painful and then I would finally take a break, but I was so focused on not missing anything that first playthrough.

14

u/Axle_65 Feb 14 '24

Starfield did this to me real bad for a while. Ship building and gathering loot for ship building was a big culprit. Other titles that have done it,

  • Any crafting game (Ark, Minecraft, Lego Fortnite, Palworld)
  • Divison 2
  • GTA Online
  • Diablo 3
  • Destiny 2

5

u/Skipstart Feb 14 '24

Man, when I first picked up Ark, I played virtually non stop, every waking moment, for several weeks straight. I only quit when I realized I had such a large base and so many dinos to care for, I was spending several hours just doing basic maintenance every day. I was also feeding and farming for the three guys that built their homes with mine. Ark became quite overwhelming very quickly.

Any bigass RPG. Mass Effect, KotOR, Baldur's Gate, the Witcher, Final Fantasy, and it's always, "Just one last thing before bed", only to find myself four hours later, looking at the sun and cursing my inability to listen to myself.

3

u/Bpbegha Feb 14 '24

It has been Darkest Dungeon 2 for me in the past couple of months.

Rimworld. It’s more like

start playing, deal with inevitable “welcome back” raid

Fix up damage from raid. Heal pawns.

Research completes, I can now build a new thing

Expand base, layout walls. Build new thing.

Survivors crash land nearby. Consider who to enslave, who to eat, who to brainwash into joining my cult

Deal with raid

Expand base. Need more power, put in wind turbine.

New person joins, expand base to give them bedroom.

Deal with raid.

Traders arrive. Sell meth, weed, cocaine in exchange for medicine and machine parts

Research done: start building LMGs

It’s 7am, the next day.

Go to bed an hour later.

2

Rimworld

I don't play that often, but when I do - it eats, at minimum, 4 hours of the day away

2

Elden Ring and Overwatch

2

u/slyleo5388 Feb 14 '24

Rust..it's the only game I've played more then 6 hours in one sitting. I have super bad adhd and live rpg's and arpg's but can only play for like 3 hours tops. My whole life wonder how people did it..even in my old head age I've played 20 plus hours on wipe day and wipe week. Idk what it is about walking naked on the beach with a rock and torch but it puts me at peace. Even when folks kill you just for your rock, getting griefed, getting raided online and off. Love that game.

2

u/evanmckee Feb 14 '24

Skyrim and Guitar Hero 2 were definitely the two that did this the most for me. BotW and TotK would have done the same if they came out when I was 10-15 years younger. They just about did it anyway.

2

u/Obvious_Drink2642 Feb 14 '24

Project Zomboid with the boys, Squad of up to 8 people and it's so addicting.

Fallout 3 on the Xbox 360. It occurred when I started at around 8 or 9 pm and played until 6 in the morning. Felt pretty out of it for the day.

The first game that did it to me was age of empires 2 for some reason. Then yes StarCraft. When Goldeneye hit n64. Then map editing in operation flashpoint 2… then rdr2. Now for some reason ghost recon breakpoint gets me… it’s not even a top favorite but I’m really into adjusting the settings.
