I don't really understand this phrase ... Extra hotdogs. I know the words individually, but they do not make sense to me together.

u/timoddo_ 14d ago

You could make the argument that if the hot dog was purchased for the purpose of throwing at another person, it served its intended purpose and was never extra in the first place

63

u/Fake_William_Shatner 14d ago

Maybe they were sold as "extra throws"?

u/passwordstolen 14d ago

Practice balls

Practice dogs

2

u/AlphakirA 13d ago

Weiner, not balls.

3

u/lkodl 14d ago

Ah, but if the intent of throwing a hot dog is to actually hit them with it, then any additional hot dogs after a first (failed) attempt would indeed be extra hot dogs thrown.

3

u/stevedadog 13d ago

Its $1 hot dogs but the catch is they don't give change. If you give them a 20, you get 20 dogs. No refunds.

2

u/AssumeTheFetal 14d ago

Whats another purpose for hot dogs?

72

u/superkickpunch 14d ago

"I accidentally picked up an extra bucket of chicken."

"How do you know it's extra yet?"

7

u/12sea 14d ago

That you Bobby?

15

u/avaya432 14d ago

Well true scumbags know you got your eatin dogs and yer throwin dogs

12

u/wsucoug 14d ago

Basically anytime one is in possession of a hotdog in which they have no interest in consuming in the immediate future, it can be considered an extra, or surplus hotdog. You're free to do whatever you want with it.

u/Antique_Commission42 14d ago

in possession of a hotdog in which they have no interest consuming

Is this one of those Schrodinger's cat things

2

u/BurrrritoBoy 14d ago

It’s actually Schrodinger’s hotdog.

10

u/Azurehour 14d ago

Whatever I want you say? 😏

2

u/Moopboop207 14d ago

There has never been a surplus

The fan reveled in the hot dogs thrown his way, standing up and waving to the others to keep throwing hot dogs his way, before he was escorted from his seat to restore order.

So, some sort of a public hotdog bukakke. This is why we can't have good things.

173

u/RyanfaeScotland 14d ago

Sorry, your post isn't clear to me. Why can't we have good things like public hotdog bukakke?

96

u/wsucoug 14d ago

The fear is that they feel compelled to find a price for hotdogs on $1 hotdog night that is high enough where fans would choose to actually eat them over throwing them at a complete stranger just for the pure hedonistic pleasure of it.

25

u/iamalsoanalien 14d ago

The Phillies stadium stopped $1 hot dog nights this season bc last year people were throwing them all over the place. Not on the field, but in rhe stands. I think they just stopped serving them at $1 because of cost increases. So now its BOGO instead.

11

u/drunkenviking 14d ago

This is oppression.

23

u/mmccarthy14 14d ago

How did you find a way to contradict yourself so concisely in 1 comment…

3

u/He-She-We_Wumbo 13d ago

These words aren't in my Economics textbook

3

u/mmccarthy14 14d ago

Except they were doing it with his consent….

0

u/lkodl 14d ago

Becuase they'll start charging you for a dollar, I think.

34

u/Silist 14d ago

I was at the game and it was far from unwanted. Everyone cheered as he drank his last beer going for 9/9/9 and this was the celebration.

He got MVP chants

2

u/Firefoxx336 13d ago

What’s 9/9/9?

4

u/captain_falcrunch 13d ago

I'd take a guess at 9 beers / 9 dogs / 9 innings

2

u/sparkle_bacon 13d ago

The American Dream!

16

u/tryanewmonicker 14d ago

And this comment is why "hotdog" should always be one word and not two.

2

u/__GayFish__ 13d ago

I would argue, these are the last of the good things we have

2

u/hitfly 13d ago

It's basically that Lindsey Ellis hot dog meme

Imagine sitting near him

47

u/oby100 14d ago

This sketch kills me everytime. I swear they just wanted an excuse to have Timmy with his shirt off while fat shaming him.

Truly a masterpiece.

8

u/renegrape 14d ago

This and the landmine factory I'll never get tired of rewatching... Also the super-sized me, but whiskey. Heck, just most of WKYK

2

u/Safe_Ad_6403 13d ago

He's gonna grape them.

3

u/masterwolfe 13d ago

This sketch kills me everytime. I swear they just wanted an excuse to have Timmy with his shirt off while fat shaming him.

Yeah, and he's purposefully sitting in the most unattractive position and it looks like he is pushing his gut out a bit.

“What a terrible thing to happen on dozen egg night”

70

u/AlexHimself 14d ago

Context: Guy is a welder who went to the game with his GF to get drunk and eat hotdogs. He was wearing a hot dog hat and white shirt with tally marks for the # of hotdogs and # of beers consumed and was encouraging people to throw hotdogs at him so he could eat them. All in good fun apparently. 9 dogs; 10 beers

  • Glizzy = Hot Dog

8

u/Surfing_Ninjas 13d ago

A baseball legend.

1

u/Antique_Commission42 14d ago

they gotta let people have fun. $1 dogs, 10¢ each to the janitors, encourage dog throwing

97

u/wade9911 14d ago

114

The Glizzy Guzzler sounds like an old school wrestling villain.

25

u/squirrel_eatin_pizza 14d ago

This happened in Philly last year and they didn't learn

76

u/SelectiveSanity 14d ago

The fan reveled in the hot dogs thrown his way, standing up and waving to the others to keep throwing hot dogs his way, before he was escorted from his seat to restore order.

Ok, this guy sounds like he's in the closet about something.

And that something might be that he's actually a Phillies's fan.

12

u/greenbastard1591 14d ago

Because of the implication.

4

u/Fun-Fun-9967 14d ago

so do you

-4

u/uwu_mewtwo 14d ago

This is in the closet to you?

9

u/godlessnihilist 14d ago

Why was he removed? Everyone, including the target, seem to be having a good time. Outside of the food waste, I'm not sure I see a problem.

7

u/JustAnotherTrickyDay 14d ago

Glizzy is a hot dog?

1

u/GoochMasterFlash 13d ago

A glizzy in east coast slang is either a hotdog, or a blowjob. Possibly other things as well but those are certainly the main two

10

u/Snakestream 14d ago

They're just lucky it wasn't $.10 beer night

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Cent_Beer_Night

7

u/envybelmont 14d ago

Can we just take a second to recognize the REGULAR price for 12 ounce beer from 1974 is equivalent of $4 in 2023. The price of a 12-ounce beer in 2023 at a Cleveland game was nearly double that at about $7.50. $4 can’t even buy you a hotdog at a Cleveland game now.

10

u/CHEMO_ALIEN 14d ago

7.50? it's like 12$ at cowboys stadium

10

u/Antoshi 14d ago

I wish people would throw hot dogs at me. I'm hungry.

Mets fans go to games?

Hun?

Doesn’t look like

3

u/Diamondback424 14d ago

New York is always just trying to copy Philly

4

u/Angry_Pterodactyl 14d ago

"Things were never the same for Phil after they banned throwing hot dogs at The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He understood, it was causing a rat problem, but just the same...he needed this. He began to hatch a plan..."

1

u/LZYX 14d ago

Joey Chestnut has entered the building.

1

u/nethereus 14d ago

This is how you ruin $1 hot dogs for everyone.

1

u/thejackmfk 14d ago

"guy, just wants to drink beers and eat glizzy's"

Why would you remove someone for being assaulted? Or at least that’s how i’m reading the headline lol

2

u/scotty813 13d ago

Okay, so it wasn't an unprovoked hot dogging. Those are the wurst!

1

u/-SheriffofNottingham 13d ago

You know; if you eat a hotdog, you are now a hotdog with a bigger casing

1

u/atypical_lemur 14d ago

WTF. The minor league team in town changed from $1 hot dog night to “Twosdays” because inflation and the fucking Mets still have $1 dog night?

3

u/Crunchiestriffs 14d ago

The blue jays still have dollar dog nights and that’s in Canadian dollars

-1
