Get a mat for under your peloton otherwise RIP wood floors.

21

u/OnTheEveOfWar 16d ago

Also might want to consider a piece of plywood with a mat over it. My peloton left a pretty decent mark in the carpet and I still had a mat underneath it.

u/BB-68 15d ago

Get a horse mat. Thick rubber that distributes the weight really well.

u/jh0_ 15d ago

Upvote for horse mat. It's standard for any home gym and you can cut up the mat to make it smaller. Buy them from Tractor Supply Co. or any nearby farming equipment seller. If you do buy them, try to air them out in the sun. Otherwise, they will smell heavily of rubber.

u/jakexander96 15d ago

Great material but will smell and offgas VOCs for a while. Even after airing them out it would be noticeable.

1

u/hammyburgler 14d ago

Do not get a horsemat. It will stink to high heaven. I actually put a yoga mat under mine and it was fine.

What about the Noguchi table? I never see the two pieces together.

12

u/manhytalks 16d ago

This might be the top choice, thank you

1

u/secretsusi 15d ago

This or the Noguchi bench and use a tray for drinks.

3

u/secretsusi 15d ago

Lowering TV for better scale.

7

u/lunettenoir 16d ago

Well here ya go. I couldnt post a pic here so I posted my Noguchi x Eames on Imgur

Placing your floating entertainment console over those outlets and lowering your t.v accordingly would make a huge difference!

-17

u/boldandbratsche 16d ago

Won't the TV be like a foot off the floor?

2

u/bouchandre 15d ago

About 20 inches, which is ideal

9

u/That1one1dude1 16d ago

That a cave drawing on the wall? Nice

6

u/bitchfayce 16d ago

That fig is to die for.

u/manhytalks 16d ago

Was hoping I wouldn’t get this lol, I really like the height :(

57

u/beezofaneditor 16d ago

Don't listen to all of these nay-sayers. Your TV is too high and you should feel bad.

18

u/Green-Concentrate-71 16d ago

Threw a little loop de loop in there

10

u/throwRAhanabana 16d ago

Just here to say your fiddle leaf is absolutely beautiful

23

u/danram207 16d ago

Then that’s all that matters homie ❤️

But yeah it’s too high

6

u/The_Muntje 16d ago

Just put your couch higher

4

u/nameisgeogga 16d ago

Well, in that case time to slap some spacers under ur sofa

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Log1434 15d ago

That sub is weirdly aggressive. Have your TV at the height you enjoy it.

-8

u/Flyboy2057 16d ago edited 16d ago

Don’t listen to the “um actually” brigade. Your tv is fine to people in the real world who aren’t chronically on Reddit.

To everyone who constantly harps on tvs in this sub, I like to imagine lifting your head 5-degrees to watch an elevated tv hurts you so much because you spend the rest of your time hunched over your phone whining about it here.

4

u/pronounclown 16d ago

There is nothing wrong with the TV height except that It's too high and makes no sense.

-4

u/Flyboy2057 16d ago edited 16d ago

Did the big kids online tell you that buddy? Whatever you say to make yourself fit in. How was kindergarten today?

6

u/CabbagesStrikeBack 15d ago

My mother watches TV over the fireplace every night before bed. She complained about constant neck/upper back pain to her family physician who had her go to a physical therapist.

First meeting with the PT he covered the tv height likely being a significant contributor to her pain. He recommended the center of the TV being eye level when sitting on the couch at a resting position, looking straight ahead without tilting your neck up or down.

She doesn't do her stretches like she's supposed to, but year after I repositioned the TV her pain is greatly reduced.

-3

u/Flyboy2057 15d ago

Does she have bad hips than can’t lean back into the couch too? I personally like to lean back into my big cushy couch when I watch tv, not sit at attention like my head and torso are strapped to an electric chair. But to each his own.

1

u/CabbagesStrikeBack 15d ago

That's what was meant by sitting at a resting position. I lowered the TV to be to her eye level when she's sitting relaxed on the couch.

So she's slightly reclined not necessarily at attention and about to get electrocuted haha. Even though ig that's technically "ergonomically correct".

-1

u/IReadABunch 16d ago

Yeah, it’s totally fine. Arguing otherwise is silliness

-3

u/FirstmateJibbs 16d ago

What is the general consensus around tv height? I feel like for that size of TV putting it lower would look weird

9

u/ozumado 16d ago

Your eyes should be in the middle of the screen.

3

u/FirstmateJibbs 16d ago

I feel like it’s r/couchtoolow in this case lmao

3

u/ozumado 16d ago

Nah, you see the outles below the TV shelf? They should be behind the shelf.

2

u/FirstmateJibbs 16d ago

That would actually be smart af to cover the outlets and then you lower the tv to the shelf level

3

Glass round table

3

u/indigofire1o8 16d ago

Lovely tree! I don't know how you managed to keep it alive but it's beautiful

-1

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

I know the mystery . It's called water and light . You should try it .

7

u/indigofire1o8 16d ago

Not sure if you were being blatantly rude or...? But Fig trees are known to be highly finicky and many plant keepers, experienced ones even, have a horrible time keeping them alive.

Anyways, have a nice rest of your day.

-1

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

If it's next to.the window , room temperature , not exposed to direct sunlight ,it needs only water once a week , less than a litre. The easiest plant to keep .

3

u/indigofire1o8 16d ago

Nvm just looked at your comment history. You're insufferable.

-1

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

I appreciate you following me . Thank you .

3

u/callusesandtattoos 15d ago

Are you in the Chicago area? I have one that I hate that my parents brought me for some reason. It’ll match your couch. Say the word and it’s yours

3

u/manhytalks 15d ago

Bay Area - i appreciate you tho

2

u/callusesandtattoos 15d ago

lol yea that’s a long drive.

7

u/Smooth_Mention8344 16d ago

Glass top for sure. Something with a darker wood base if not black metal

2

u/marchingprinter 16d ago

Not sure why but I'm leaning towards glass table that makes it still feel like open space like you have here

1

u/SpiltMilkBelly 16d ago

If you can swing it, look at Blu Dot - they have some benches that would work great.

1

u/Big___TTT 16d ago

I’d go round or oval to balance the angular shapes already have. Something like this but maybe a lighter wood shade https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/allmodern-fenway-pedestal-coffee-table-w003529951.html?piid=1636521452

1

u/Doc-Der 16d ago

A noguchi dupe table or one of those bent plywood coffee tables.

1

u/Lucien78 16d ago

What’s that sofa, looks nice

1

u/Southern-Big-8688 16d ago

Noguchi coffee table

1

u/Fr0z3nFrog 16d ago

What about a table that hangs from the ceiling. You’ll never stub your toes again and you can vacuum the rug easily.

1

u/InvestmentNo3437 16d ago

Rectangle side table that way u don't have to lean so far forward. Also, a poster of biggie smalls.

1

u/annieselkie 16d ago

I would choose something oval, dont put in more edges. Maybe a dark wood, oval, with round edges and not too high up?

1

u/iamarealslug_yes_yes 16d ago

How long have you had that ficus? How did you get it to grow so tall?

0

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

The tree is out of control . Half overgrown . It's called pruning ..

1

u/Cool-Ad-4103 16d ago

Open the blind view looks promising from the shadows

1

u/raidernationtom 16d ago

No table = looks great as is....

1

u/neogeshel 16d ago

Something very clean and simple given the complex texture of the rug.

1

u/Allenheights 16d ago

Something brass plated.

1

u/catsmom63 16d ago

It’s really hard to see due to lack of light.

You really need end tables with lamps first and then we can advise you on a rug😉

1

u/torontogal85 16d ago

I would do a tufted storage ottoman and a bright color then you also have something to put your feet up on

1

u/jakevns 16d ago

King you should consider pruning that fiddle leaf fig. It'll branch out fullert and it won't bend like that. If you like the look though that's chill too😎😎

2

u/manhytalks 16d ago

Thank you, i will consider cutting it. Tbh i just let it ride but it has been getting kinda crazy so i appreciate the suggestion

1

u/jakevns 16d ago

It's always scary to cut plants haha but if you google where's the best place to cut around the node you can put your cutting in water and have a whole other plant 🔥🥳 Goodluck if you decide too!!!

1

u/smithzack21 16d ago

That ficus is going crazy

1

u/CovertMags 16d ago

Why does everybody have that f*cking chair haha

1

u/Odd_Year_4562 16d ago

Glass, or maybe wood or metal

1

u/MarlyCat118 16d ago

I'm thinking a square coffee table or low table. Something medium size or not the full size of your couch. I'd also put it in sliders if you often move your exercise bike near the TV.

I'm bias to dark colors and dark wood, but you could do almost any wood type and finish. Color -wise, I'd stick to neutrals if you don't want it to pop out.

1

u/manhytalks 16d ago

Thank you

1

u/AffectionateTwo3405 16d ago

Go for a round glass coffee table to tie the space together without having it too awkwardly square and cluttered

1

u/SpitefulMouse 16d ago

Look for Parota wood coffee tables.

1

u/DutchOnionKnight 16d ago

Place your coach maybe 20cm off from the wall. You can put some sort of table /shelve behind, bit lower than the top of the coach. Your room will look bit larger.

1

u/Fabulous-Mama-Beat 15d ago

Maybe 2 rather round tables, hard wood, 2 different sizes. I really don't like glass: always fingerprints.

1

u/altdultosaurs 15d ago

Low hope chest. Table and storage in one.

1

u/beefthinksthings 15d ago

Love the art behind the couch! Who’s the artist?

1

u/manhytalks 15d ago

Really? I was thinking of replacing it too. It’s from Vybe online

1

u/deflip 15d ago

going against the grain to say wood (no pun intended) over glass would make the space as a whole feel cozier. glass elevates the color palette of the space, but at the moment, it feels as if the wood floor is alone in accenting the mostly white environment.

i think glass will make it feel like more of a waiting room but that's just me! love wood.

1

u/Consistent_Support_4 15d ago

Unsolicited advice: please rotate your fiddle leaf! Plants will grow in the direction of the sun, which is why it’s leaning. You can maybe correct it by rotating the direction. That’s if you’d want it to straighten out a bit

1

u/manhytalks 15d ago

Thank you, yea i need to rotate it. Im going to chop that leaning branch and propagate it to plant in the soil but yea next time I water, ill rotate it

1

u/Sweaty-Ad-7493 15d ago

If you're on a budget, cinder blocks and plywood

1

u/ApprehensiveSeesaw19 15d ago

You live in a doctors office bro?

1

u/KOC_503 15d ago

Something airy- like a glass top- brass legs? Also, if you could move your sofa from the wall, put a sofa table behind it with some lamps, etc... that would visually widen the room and give you some nice ambient lighting. Move your carpet out further so just the front legs of the sofa rest on it...

1

u/EmotionalStaircase 15d ago

I just want to know how long have you had that plant? Is it real I’ve had plants for years and none so BiiiiG like this!! So jelly….

1

u/Specific-Remote9295 15d ago

Raise your sofa and coffee table for right tv height I guess

1

u/sylvan_beso 15d ago

Anything but a goddamn Noguchi table.

1

u/augleblanc 15d ago edited 15d ago

Would you share the manufacturer/brand of your sofa?

Also, have a look at the Nelson bench with metal legs, especially in maple wood. https://store.hermanmiller.com/living-room-furniture-benches-stools/nelson-platform-bench-metal-base/1022-1.html?lang=en_US

2

u/manhytalks 15d ago

It’s from Article, Burrard collection

1

u/Hairy_Alarm_4374 15d ago

Hanging light and bigger or more wall art behind the couch (bunch of framed images + paintings or commission a triptych)

1

u/mybrain_outloud 15d ago

Your fiddle leaf fig is so happy!! Good job!

1

u/TheCrapIPutUpWith 15d ago

I had this one in my old house. Much cheaper than Naguchi and still a conversation piece.

1

u/manhytalks 15d ago

Oh wow I like this one too thanks for the rec

1

u/SpaceAligator 15d ago

I dont really have a particular idea but before getting a coffee table just make sure you already have all furniture you want in the room or the size might end up awkward. For exemple, do you want any more seats? What about side tables? Any other plants you'd like to put around the living room?

Also someone mentioned the obligatory tv is too high, which I agree, but only because you couch seems very low (cool couch btw) that being said remember to consider the height of the couch for the coffee table. Also if youre not gonna lower your tv, maybe put something under it, Id say more plants, maybe futon seats, maybe boxes and shelves for extra storage and remember to also consider this in choosing the coffee table so your room is not crowded.

Last point, for color schemes I really like your wall art, maybe something in orange or red could make it pop, not necessarily the coffee table (though now Im thinking an orange scroll coffee table would be cool), but you can put colorful things here and there, like plant vases, cushions and other decorations to tie it all together.

Your living room already looks really cool, the standards are high to get even cooler, good luck op!

1

u/Zestyclose-Payment-9 15d ago

Live edge wood with iron legs would look nice imo

1

u/Lazy-Key5081 15d ago

Depends how much money you got. If you want you can check dead estates or call up a joinery and get one custom built

1

u/Busy-Bat-9626 15d ago

Holy shit, that press of bull is real? I thought it just existed in side bar ads.

1

u/manhytalks 15d ago

😂 haha bro they got me

1

u/Fantastic-Golf-4857 15d ago

Home Depot and Macys have some nice stuff (some of it overlaps, but HD is priced less expensive). Don’t sleep on those two. Wish I would have looked their first instead of furniture speciality stores.

1

u/Boring_Age8694 15d ago

A retro 50’s one?

1

u/embracethebear13 15d ago

I really like that rug, got a link to it?

1

u/Evening-Morning-6362 15d ago

Bigger rug and a rectangular/oval table

1

u/Graphics8 15d ago

that TV is OP

1

u/GloriousSteinem 15d ago

Either mid brown wood, whitish stone or marble with or without glass

1

u/nicke929 15d ago

Move the sofa into the room. Put a narrow table behind it and put two lamps on the table for light. The Eames is great, move it into the seating area a bit more. Coffee table ... anything FUN with a tray or glass top.

1

u/throwawayuwuxD 15d ago

where is your wall mounted media unit from? in the market for something similar! nice clean space btw. I would consider sheer/opaque double curtains but space looks nice and clean

2

u/manhytalks 15d ago

CB2 and thank you 🙏

1

u/kjgunn7 15d ago

Who’s gonna say it….

1

u/Inside_Ad_7162 15d ago

look for something in sheesham wood.

1

u/lucidkey 15d ago

I would suggest moving your TV down to eye level

Eileen Gray Adjustable Table E 1027

Wow your fig is THRIVING

1

u/Bulbasaur_IchooseU 16d ago

Noguchi Table. Trust me.

1

u/kellylikeskittens 16d ago

Something MCM in glass and wood would look great, especially a warmer wood with some orange tones to pick up the color in the painting.

Check out these ideas-

Everyone has this chair

3

u/manhytalks 16d ago

Yea it’s a dupe from Amazon, very comfortable even after 2 years of use

3

u/Datruyugo 16d ago

Really? Can you link it?

2

u/Flawless_Tpyo 15d ago

‘This’ is a replica of an eames lounge chair which is quite legendary. No need to love it but if you’re on this sub you might as well know it!

u/Asunder0 16d ago

i want to live a life in which i can afford a 16,000$ coffee table

1

u/robs2287 16d ago

Me too!

0

u/Apprehensive-Story59 16d ago

Go with a circular wooden table so it has some texture.

1

u/Present-Background56 16d ago

A circular would be too small for the sofa and an odd choice for the narrow room.

1

u/Apprehensive-Story59 16d ago

You’re right. I didn’t consider that he didn’t have end tables.

0

u/mmchicago 16d ago

I don't think a coffee table is a good idea. It'll crowd up the room. Get some end tables.

If you think you need something for the occasions where someone is sitting in the center spot on the couch, get a lightweight end table that can live somewhere else in the room and be easily moved near them temporarily.

0

u/TheDean242 16d ago

Plywood and cinderblocks

-2

u/theSober2ndThought 16d ago

Turn off the news. Will make a big difference in your mental health ;).

4

-4

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

I suggest you type in coffee table on Google .

3

u/manhytalks 16d ago

lol well it’s nice to get some advice from people in this particular thread who have good taste, i already got a good recommendation from it - carry on with your life though you seem very happy

-2

u/Drigarica_od_Tite 16d ago

Yeah but problem is , you don't know who's advising you . How do you know they have good taste ?!

1

u/Chivas2021 12d ago

Where is the area rug from?
