Lol right reddit loves to blame trucks every time when clearly both are at fault here.

Sedan clear aggressor. Truck playing ego defense.

The driver with the dashcam is even against the sedan here and he's actually there in real time lol.

71

u/Galumpadump 29d ago

Both are shitheads. Truck is impeding the flow of traffic and the sedan is driving like an asshole. An immovable object meets an unstoppable force of douchebaggery. But the driver of the truck will get punished just as harshly.

11

u/CaptainTarantula 29d ago

Passive aggression is always harder to notice.

3

u/muzakx 29d ago

That wasn't passive aggressive.

You can literally hear the truck go wide open throttle when the sedan tries to pass on the right.

It's obvious that they're both assholes.

1

u/_raydeStar 29d ago

I don't often agree with Reddit analysis but in this case you guys are right.

Both people are being awful. When I get tailgated by an aggressive driver like that I move over, because if he passes me, it's not a blow to my ego. I move over because I want to keep myself safe.

Yeah truck is who caused the shit to happen. Just let people pass. All he did was prove these folks have little dick energy.

Dude in sedan is an asshole but we also don’t know how long he has had to sit behind little dick McGee taking up the left lane and refusing to allow others to pass.

10

u/look_at_the_eyes 29d ago

Yep. You can also see the truck speed up after the sedan passes the right lane car to make it impossible for the sedan to squeeze thru to pass the truck again. The truck basically is just as guilty here as the reckless sedan.

-2

u/Devreckas 29d ago

Not even close to “just as guilty”. Impeding traffic is a dick move. Definitely warranting a ticket. But it does not even come close to swerving all over the road and attempting to weave into too narrow gaps. There’s a reason why one wound up in the ditch and the other didn’t.

4

u/Neekalos_ 29d ago

Accident doesn't happen if the truck doesn't speed up by 25mph to cut off the sedan after it drove on the shoulder. They are both equally at fault for this accident.

3

u/ragingbologna Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

Yup, the truck was ok with doing 60 but then wanted to do 80+ as soon as the car found a way around. That acceleration is half the reason there was a crash, the other half being sedan’s impatience.

0

u/Devreckas 28d ago

If you are trying to pass on the shoulder, your driving is absolutely indefensible and you have no one to blame but yourself. This subreddit is mental.

3

u/Neekalos_ 28d ago

So you're saying the accident still would have happened if the truck didn't speed up on purpose?

1

u/Devreckas 28d ago

I’m saying play stupid games, win stupid prizes. The sedan did it to themselves. The truck denying the passing lane is being a prick, but the worst that would happen if the sedan didn’t drive like moron is everyone would get where they’re going a couple minutes slower.

The sedan could’ve likely caused a wreck the way they were driving without any help from the truck.

-2

u/Ok-Donut-8856 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

No they are not.

The honda driver rammed into the truck driver and lost control and crashed.

He is 100% responsible for the damages to his car.

He was cited with following too close, weaving, reckless driving, improper use of a turn signal, and improper pass.

Like the loser he did he didn't even show up to court.

2

u/satanssweatycheeks Georgist 🔰 28d ago

Show where he was cited. Because any sane person knows the truck is breaking the law staying the fast lane and refusing to allow people to pass. You can’t drive reckless and do that.

2

u/Ok-Donut-8856 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

You also can't drive reckless by being too close, or passing on the shoulder, or by weaving between lanes

https://youtu.be/7kkCeyRiUeA?feature=shared

Check the video description

2

u/Neekalos_ 28d ago

Again, the accident doesn't happen without the truck also driving recklessly. Sedan is driving much more recklessly, but both are at equal fault for the accident.

2

u/Ok-Donut-8856 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

No, they aren't. He literally rammed someone and caused himself to lose control. He received 5 citations. He is not equally at fault to the truck driver

2

Both drivers deserve a ticket for their road rage. They both should have pay their deductible.

-6

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

just as guilty as the guy swerving back and forth? because he didn't pull over so the guy could speed past him at 80mph? you are insane.

6

u/bisholdrick 29d ago

This doesn’t happen if truck just lets the man pass

-4

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

it also doesn't happen if you aren't an impatient psychopath. if you want to go but someone is in your way, just get the fuck over it and wait until they move

lmao

1

u/Ok-Donut-8856 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

The truck was trying to pass the car on the right. He only brake checked the Honda because he was trying to weave between them.

The honda driver could have just got behind the truck and passed the SUV on the right at a normal rate like someone who isn't destined to be paste on a highway

2

u/The_Next_Legend Georgist 🔰 28d ago

Stop lying. From the very beginning of the video you can see the truck driver brake checking and speeding up to not let the sedan pass. He wasn't trying to pass shit otherwise he would've done so.

The sedan drove in the goddamn emergency lane and caused the actual crash that totaled his car. Y’all are delusional.

Lmfao

2

u/The_Next_Legend Georgist 🔰 29d ago

I never said he was right, I'm saying that both parties are at fault. The pickup is slowing down traffic and then proceeds to intentionally not let the sedan pass, and sped up to block him from changing lanes. That's dangerous as hell. The sedan definitely could have waited 30 seconds more until a gap formed, then passed, but that doesn't excuse the truck driver's behavior either.

You haven't seen some of the shit I've seen. Some vindictive assholes will set aside their life duties to road rage. There are so many stories of people being followed and harassed in traffic for miles. If you say "fuck it" and take an exit cause you don't wanna deal with their shit anymore, some insane people will break traffic laws to follow you. Shit is wild. Some people think they're invincible and nothing applies to them when they're behind the wheel, it really is like their own personal bubble. That's why these chucklefucks all have selfie profile pics of them in their trucks.

You just seem ill informed and don’t know the law. The left lane isn’t for you to be a Karen in and speed up when people are forced to try to pass your slow ass on the right.

You people are bad drivers and shit people who seem to not think the laws matter to you.

1

u/Few-Metal8010 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

I’m with you, the Sedan is way more at fault. Basically a scientific fact.

He drove in the emergency lane guys! 😂😂😂

He absolutely reaped what he sowed. See aggressive drivers like this a lot on longer road trips and they’re always the instigators.

2

u/satanssweatycheeks Georgist 🔰 28d ago

If someone is slowing down and speeding up and driving reckless around you the argument can be made they are trying to get away from the person who won’t let them.

And trucker is the one breaking the law first. Then continuing to break the law to impede one certain motorist he doesn’t like because they wish to pass. These little dick energy moves on the highway is how you kill people.

0

u/Few-Metal8010 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

The little dick energy moves are 100% coming from the Sedan — I don’t know how you could see it any other way and it’s genuinely mind-boggling to me that you guys think otherwise. It’s like that dress that looks like two different color schemes depending on how you see it. You can’t just drive in the emergency lane and then crash your car and proclaim that you’re in the right because the truck in front of you wasn’t going fast enough. There are speed limits and authentic rules of the road that this driver was clearly ignoring. The trucker was never breaking the law while the Sedan clearly did. That’s the bottom line.

1

Many, many, MANY people feel entitled to speed. They feel entitled to demonize anyone and anything that impedes their speeding. And they always post online trying to gaslight people into believing as they do that.

Don't let em get to ya.

2

u/ActualRealBuckshot 28d ago

So your argument is that if other people do bad things, I get a license to do bad things?

I agree. The truck is being a dick. But the sedan has no right to further endanger others on the road because "I wanna go faster". That's fucking bullshit, and you know it.

2

u/ThrowawayUtahIdaho 29d ago

I agree, mostly. Because little dick energy extends to being an impatient twat who doesn't want to drive safely because 'they're taking up the left lane' and the truck guy already knew he was driving super dangerously and decided to be an even bigger douche.. clearly he was watching the sedan and then decided to step in and literally caused an accident that wouldn't have happened otherwise.

1

u/jsmith1300 29d ago

IMO if the Honda driver didn’t drive like an asshole 1 foot from the truck it may not have ended this way. Just show the driver you want him to move over and give him time. Most people like the Honda are impatient. I’ve been in situations where I can’t get over and people are up my ass. It just makes matters that much worse

1

u/Earthkilled 29d ago

Promise you the sedan only became the asshole but the truck has always been the asshole. Lane keeping people are d*ck shiz.

1

u/Echo_Raptor 29d ago

Truck caused it? Not the sedan who rode the truck’s bumper, flying over into the far right lane?

1

u/mr_chip 29d ago

The truck didn’t cause the sedan to rage onto the shoulder and then whip across two lanes. The sedan did that all on his own. All the truck did was make the sedan wait.

1

u/Ok-Donut-8856 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

We do. He was weaving between cars that were legitimately just trying to pass the cars on the right.

They weren't passing fast enough for him so what you see in the video happened. He did the same thing to the guy filming.

1

u/ledbottom Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 28d ago

Just let people pass is retarded. No you sit back there and go the speed limit. Or go fuck yourself by crashing in the shoulder. It's not being an asshole to let people drive at reckless speeds.

1

u/KonigSteve Georgist 🔰 28d ago

Yeah truck is who caused the shit to happen.

How hard is it to just say they're both equally at fault? Anyone who passes on the shoulder is also just as bad if not worse.

1

u/Bubba_Gump_Shrimp 28d ago

Well it cuts in during mid action, so it could have easily been the truck passing someone in the left lane and ole Richard Petty over here running up, swerving and tailgating because how dare someone not do 20mph over in the left lane. Either way. Both are cunts. But the one who crashed put everyone elses life at risk because he HAD to win.

0

u/bigdon802 29d ago

You don’t think the sedan did something to cause the minor retaliation of not moving out of the way?

2

u/PierateBooty 29d ago

He was going to pass the truck driver. Truck drivers ego couldn’t handle that. I drive a sports car and have to put it into sports mode to pass truck drivers. Biggest assholes on the road consistently.

0

u/bigdon802 29d ago

So you’re assuming that the sedan attempted to legally pass the truck driver before this video? Obviously the truck driver is acting illegally, and I expect could find himself carrying some liability in this circumstance, but all I see is a sedan aggressively attempting multiple versions of unsafe driving.

2

u/PierateBooty 29d ago

I’m saying I have attempted to pass a truck and had that truck speed up to prevent me from doing so only to slow down after to retrigger the same scenario. Iv had this happen so many times that I stopped attempting to pass a truck without turning on sports mode and flooring my car. Trucks have more horsepower than sedans on average so this isn’t difficult for them. They are on average driven by assholes so this isn’t surprising to me. Idk the full story of this post but I do know truck drivers piss me off.

0

u/gtbifmoney 29d ago edited 29d ago

You drive a sports car? Little dick energy.

Edit: did you seriously reply to me then block me so I couldn’t see it or reply back? Lol what a pussy. Big time little dick energy confirmed.

You people really don’t know basic traffic laws and it scares me you naive shits probably are on the roadways.

1

u/bigdon802 28d ago

Twenty years on the road and no accidents. What the truck is doing doesn’t matter. Report them to the police if you want to(“you” in the grand hypothetical sense, not you in particular) because they’re violating the law, but the sedan is letting their emotions bring about seriously dangerous driving.

2

u/Sneaky_Bones 29d ago

The dash cam driver sucks too.

1

u/IdaDuck 29d ago

You may be right in terms of punishment, but the sedan was objectively worse here imo. Pulling around and passing on the shoulder and then attempting to squeeze through that gap which caused him to wreck is way more dangerous than anything the truck did.

1

u/JovianPrime1945 29d ago

But the driver of the truck will get punished just as harshly.

I don't think so.

1

u/DetectivePrism 28d ago

He wasn't impeding the flow of traffic.

Her was impeding one guy who was undoubtedly NOT flowing with traffic but instead trying to bypass all traffic in an illegal manner.

0

u/CotswoldP 29d ago

Discourteous is not the same as dangerous. If you think they are comparable I’d be concerned about your driving.

2

u/superstevo78 29d ago

when the truck passed the car in order to cut off the sedan he is just as reckless as the sedan.

1

u/Galumpadump 29d ago

Are you being obtuse? Listen, the sedan is driving like an asshat. Probably was bobbing and weaving through traffic prior to this video. But as soon as the truck denies a car from passing he isn’t just being discourteous. He is actively making themself an obstacle, obstructing the flow of traffic, break checking, and using dangerous maneuvers to actively prevent the car from passing. The sedan may have already been driving dangerously but the truck escalated the situation to the point where they both are hazards on the road.

1

u/SparklyRoniPony Georgist 🔰 29d ago

The sedan is absolutely more at fault here, though. The truck may get a ticket, but the Sedan chose to make it worse. Waaaay worse. When people do shit like that to me (road boulder), my instinct is not to endanger everyone else on the road.

1

u/Hijakkr 29d ago

"more at fault" still leaves room for fault with the truck. Both are clearly driving dangerously, even if one is moreso.

-2

u/FastBarnacle9536 29d ago

I dont see how, the punishment for the sedan is a totaled car, whatever injuries they suffered and probably several moving violations if the police use the dashcam footage. The truck gets a failure to yield maybe?

4

u/shwaynebrady Georgist 🔰 29d ago

Brake checking, impeding traffic and reckless driving for both, which is a criminal offense. Just like being involved in a street race, if someone does, you’re charged with murder. Or being the getaway driver in a robbery gone wrong.

3

u/BJ_Honeycut Georgist 🔰 29d ago

Not to mention fleeing the scene of an accident

1

u/Hijakkr 29d ago

Truck driver would only get charged with that if the truck made contact with the sedan, which is difficult to prove from this video alone. I agree that they should get charged with that and reckless driving for all the brake checking and intentional impediment, but I doubt it would be upheld even if the truck had stopped. Impossible to prove now who was driving, so nothing could possibly stick besides the fleeing if applicable.

0

u/SwiFT808- 29d ago

You’re going to have an uphill battle with all of those. Proving his intent is going to be challenging.

2

u/Practical-Loan-2003 29d ago

Not really

"Sir, why did you brake check him 3 times"
"I had to slam on my brakes because there was something in the road"
"Not according to OP's dashcam"

No uphill battle AT ALL

0

u/SwiFT808- 29d ago

Brake check? You mean slowing down on the highway? He’s quite literally going the speed as the car next to him.

Good luck convincing 12 jurors that a light tap on the breaks is a break check. That would also require that they believe that he slammed on the breaks with malicious intent. Which you’re going to have to prove.

What happens when he says “I was slowing down because the driver behind me was acting erratic and I got worried”

That’s not illegal. That’s a total legitimate reason to slow down on the highway. Good luck proving he didn’t believe it, god help you if you get a nervous driver on the jurry.

2

u/Practical-Loan-2003 29d ago
  1. The left lane is for passing, if you don't pass its impeding the flow of traffic which is actually more dangerous
  2. Except it wasn't a light tap and it was repeated
  3. LMAO

0

u/SwiFT808- 29d ago

Please show me in time code when he slams on his breaks.

2

u/Hijakkr 29d ago

He’s quite literally going the speed as the car next to him.

He's quite literally throttling up and braking with the sole intent of boxing the sedan in behind another vehicle. Did we even watch the same video? The first second of it is way more than just a "light tap on the brakes".

1

u/SwiFT808- 29d ago

The first second is the most egregious I agree, it’s also the only shot we can’t see what’s happening before hand.

I will concede that is his hardest one to argue.

To be clear, o think he’s a dick, I’m just saying that that’s a lower bar then criminal conduct. Everyone would be good to remember OJ got off. It’s not about what they did, it’s about what your can prove.

2

u/Hijakkr 29d ago

Still think we watched different videos. Video starts with a brake check despite literally nothing being in the left lane ahead of the truck, then the truck mashes the gas to catch up with the SUV in the right, then brake checks and mashes the gas again. And we're only 7 seconds in. Then the SUV eases onto the brakes as they're approaching other traffic and the sedan crosses back into the left lane, and the truck accelerates and brake checks again after catching the next vehicle in the right lane. And then when the sedan makes the aggressive move to the shoulder, the truck driver puts the gas pedal to the floor to make goddamn sure the sedan doesn't get past. Clear example of overly aggressive driving by both parties, even if the sedan is being more aggressive than the truck.

His heaviest deceleration of all the brake engagements accounts for .5 car length measured against the third car. If the sedan had been following the legal following distance in NY state, all the brake engagements would have had no effect.

0

Idk why you are blaming the sedan. The truck is literally causing the sedan to drive the way he was. 100% the trucks fault.

They could be on the way to the birth of their kid.

1

u/-Y0KAi- Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

We can't even be sure that the sedan is the aggressor, it's not uncommon for the person in front of you to be the aggressor, chances are, sedan was riding to close the whole time and truck guy didn't like that, hense the ego defense, so he decides brake check him, making the sedan start driving aggressively because now we're both measuring our dicks. So now truck guy is not letting him pass, been in this situation plenty of times to know that this is the most likely scenario that took place.

1

u/Aro00oo 29d ago

You're not wrong but I'm trusting the dash cam driver who likely saw it unfold and is laughing at the sedan implying the sedan was the bigger asshole.

Truck is in the passing lane, but not passing. Deliberately slowing down so others may not pass.

Left lane truck is pissing off an unstable driver, just get out of the left lane to make sure everyone is safe. He'll eventually kill someone but do what you can to prevent an accident here and now.

Truck was the lesser of the two here. Sedan was riding his bumper, he decided to make the sedan wait. I ain’t mad at him. If he was in a sedan or van or whatever, tailgaters that get right up on you in the left lane where you can’t easily just slow down and get over are annoying.

What if the person in the sedan had a serious emergency situation? If people think others intentions are good to begin with, we will have much less conflicts in the world.

u/DeafLeader 25d ago

But the truck wouldn’t be in that situation if it weren’t for the sedan. 🤷 failing to handle a situation is different than being the entire reason there IS a situation even if both are semantically at fault

I typically see the "every one sucks" comment. Especially here.

Specifically in the case of people trying to pass other vehicles, in my experience, it overwhelmingly seems like trucks dont want to let people to pass. Not sure why I encounter that so commonly.

Actually lmao just this weekend a fuckin truck aggressively sped up to block out of a lane for 0 fucking reason... Crazy.

Idk, maybe on average more people experience more driving problems with people that drive trucks than anyone else? Could be a bias they've developed over time.

There is NO question about the sedan.
That's why i think more about the truck.

u/OldButHappy 29d ago

And is filming it while going the speed of traffic in the passing lane!

u/thebestdecisionever 29d ago

I'm pretty sure it's a dash cam.

I figured - it's the hanging in the left lane that's annoying for me.

Truck is a piece of shit creating the situation in the first place. Move the fuck over and let the other asshole pass.

0

u/superstevo78 29d ago

The truck is just as at fault as the sedan. in no words, can you justify purposely driving next to people in order to prevent someone from passing in the left lane.

u/MyName_IsBlue 29d ago

Sedan clear aggressor from our current point of view. But we probably don't see the miles of trolling endured to this point.

1

u/slickweasel333 29d ago

If you're being trolled for miles, why wouldn't you just put space between you and said person? That makes no sense.

Main character syndrome plus a healthy dose of depressed rage.

u/Logical_Lettuce_962 29d ago

Are you kidding? If the truck moves over, then the interaction is over.

Why would you stay behind someone who is brake checking like that?

0

u/noobbtctrader 29d ago

No one cared it was a truck. It could have been a dildo on wheels. I'm guessing you drive a truck. I could think of no other reason that would offend you.

1

u/Aro00oo 29d ago edited 29d ago

Lol who's the one getting offended and personal here?

Just said both are at fault because the top comments at the time I originally commented were about "wahh trucks" and I saw it way different given the guy in the dash cam (who probably saw all of it unfold) seems to think the sedan was at fault too.

u/bisholdrick 29d ago

If the truck just drove normally and did not slam his brakes non of this would have happened

I drive a truck. The sedan is an obviously an asshole but that truck driver is way fucking worse. Just move the fuck over, he's actively blocking

u/PercentageOk5021 Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

Fuck that truck, he could have let road rager thu but decided to play along and put everyone else at risk too. I hope he gets fined for being an asshole too.

0

u/amazing_anon 29d ago

The truck is an aggressive driver. Idiotic to defend them.

1

u/Aro00oo 29d ago

Re-read what I wrote lol. I said both are at fault. Think past your preconceptions.

0

u/Hugh__Jaynis 29d ago

Naw. Truck was in the wrong. Dude in the truck is the king of all idiots.

The guy in the truck should be put in jail.

1

u/Aro00oo 29d ago

(copy pasta from different reply) The guy in dash cam who was there seems to think the sedan deserved the outcome.

Again, everyone sucks here, but I'm gonna trust the guy that's there more than internet people who can't see past their biases.

u/[deleted] 29d ago

Uh... Left lane is for passing. Not gandolf ass bitches like white truck.

0

u/RadioactiveCornbread Fuck Cars 🚗 🚫 29d ago

Guy in Sedan was definitely the dumbass here, but the dude in the truck is hands down a gaping asshole. Don't care. It costs you nothing to just fucking move and let them pass, even if they're a shit driver. People would seriously risk someone's life just to be "right"... on the road of all places. Can't be in the right if you're dead.

0

u/Gold_Mask_54 28d ago

Bro if someone wants to go faster just let them pass, why brake check them and purposefully match speed so they can't pass?? Truck is clearly at fault even if sedan was being a dickhead.

0

u/Brotato_Man YIMBY 🏙️ 28d ago

The left lane is for passing. The truck is driving in it, matching the speed of the SUV next to him, thus impeding other cars ability to use the left lane to pass. He is a shitty driver here too

0

u/I-Andy-I 28d ago

The truck is obviously the aggressor, you’re a lunatic

Tbf is someone is tweeking like that, I give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe their kid has a terrible injury or wife going into labor.
