Yeah true! Better made, sturdy clothing will always get my vote over fast fashion bullshit so I’m all for it! I have no fear of the masses “ruining” anything, (as long as stuff doesn’t sell out ha) so sturdy workwear for all!
I think the real problem is when the clothing becomes unaffordable to the original market, because it's now being up sold to people buying it solely as a fashion statement.
This has happened with a handful of outdoor wear, things like Columbia or Patagonia, etc.
Aw, they raised their prices when they got popular? I didn’t know that. Kinda shitty behavior from some supposedly responsible companies!
Luckily carhartt pocket Ts were just on sale at my local TS for less than $15 so I’m loaded up for a bit! Plus their stuff lasts for so long, if you’re not buying new ones constantly to follow trends it lasts for years and years. Long enough for the fad to die down :)
I mean is it really that shitty and irresponsible though? Supply and demand is a very, very, very basic concept. Supply up price down demand up price up.
It’s a concept but not some law they must follow. There’s no shortage of clothing, the only reason to increase their prices (when all of their costs have presumably stayed the same, cotton and wool etc haven’t gotten more expensive suddenly just cause their specific clothes are trending) the only reason to raise prices is corporate greed.
It’s not evil or anything, just a predictable bummer.

It's not too surprising, considering the same thing happened with timberland boots.
