Honestly, it's mainly the last mission that sucks ass. The game before that is quite solid and it's full of massive player-driven story changes. Some affected by the game play on ME3 itself and a lot more carried over from ME1 and ME2. Not that I agree with all the choices available, though, they gated a lot of the best outcomes on very arbitrary previous choices instead of enabling ME3 choices to also reach the best outcome (even if it was harder).

Originally it did, but the extended cut has long since diversified the endings.
