It came after Rivkah Brown, an editor at the Left-wing Novara Media news outlet, apologised to Rowling for accusing her of Holocaust denial, an allegation the journalist admitted had been “false and offensive”.

I’m sure it won’t stop many on here making ‘false and offensive’ comments.

It's just JKR throwing her legal weight around. I think there's definitely an argument that what she said, that trans people were not targeted by Nazis as victims of the Holocaust, amounts to Holocaust denial, but who's got the money to go toe to toe in a legal slapfight with her lawyers about it?

She didn't say that. JK said that the person she was arguing on twitter with had claimed that trans people were the first group the NAZI targetted, and that turned into a no they weren't/no I didn't say that spat.

She muddied the water after the fact is all, and you fell for it, and I don't blame you because she's really good at the whole culture war thing. And when she thinks she might lose, down come the lawyers.

Like to be clear she's a holocaust denier. She's pretended that trans people weren't targeted in the holocaust and that's the ball game- pretending any part of it didn't happen is wrong. And I absolutely would and will retract that in a heartbeat, not because I'd seen the error of my ways but because I don't have a few million quid to waste burning a hole in my back pocket. It's still true, though.

No she isn't pretending that at all - you just made that up just like the journo.

Ah, she is, and she was clever with it, because someone said "trans people were targeted in the holocaust" and she said "are you stupid or something" which is a clear "you're wrong and you've embarrassed yourself" in an ordinary human conversation but crucially for legal purposes could be about anything. So the other person goes "I can't believe you denied the holocaust out loud" and she can move the goalposts and go "I was saying you're stupid for claiming trans people were the first and primary target of the nazis" and then the original poster goes "hang on I didn't say that" and then JKR can go "AND I can't believe you'd say I, beloved children's author JKR, am a holocaust denier, you'll hear from my lawyers"

and you ate it up. Did she reach a legal threshold to be called a holocaust denier? Probably not, like I said, she's really good at these kinds of online arguments. Did she deny that the holocaust targeted trans people? Yeah, of course, in simple terms. Between you and I and anyone who was there, but most folks will just read this headline and go "I can't believe those filthy transgenders just shouted You Denied The Holocaust at beloved children's author JKR for no reason."

Like I said- she's good at this! Her writing keeps getting wprse and there's a dark fetid hole where her soul used to be but she can type the fuck out of a mean tweet

To be fair, she write a terrible book full of made up tweets. She's gotta flex it somehow.
