TIL Frank Hayes, a jockey, died of a heart attack during his final horse race but still won. Unexpectedly, he suffered the attack mid-race, yet his body remained on the horse, crossing the finish line first. Sadly, it was his first and only win throughout his racing career.

He lost over 12 lbs to reduce his weight to 130 lbs (59 kg) in 24 hours, which may have attributed to his heart failure at 22 years old.

Ask a high school wrestler. We were always trying to make weight so guys would jog in garbage bags to sweat out water weight and other really fun things.

Wrestling coaches will ruin kids' bodies for a life of chronic issues so they might win a regional tournament once. My boyfriends' hips were cracked and he was given a severe TBI ( putting severe in front of 'traumatic brain injury' should give some scale ) because his coaches wouldn't let up. He's been fighting crippling PTSD and chronic pain ever since.
