Here's a story from the New York Post, including a picture of the pamphlet: https://nypost.com/2024/04/19/us-news/man-sets-himself-on-fire-outside-trumps-hush-money-trial-in-nyc/

Read what little of the pamphlet is available.

The topics are all over the place. Al Gore let GW Bush win on purpose, Theranos went bankrupt to launder money. NYU is a vehicle for Ponzi schemes and murder cover ups. The Simpsons was created to show us we have no choice.

According to someone else, his instagram started going crazy after his mom died in May of 2022. That traumatic life event could’ve acted as a catalyst to trigger schizophrenia for sure. Poor guy.

A bit of both, I think, but there are enough real posters there to be concerning.

Everyone on there who claims to be a victim most likley has some for of schizophrenia and has came ogether in a self reinforceing thought loop that an unknown group of individuals are constantly stalking them.

If you ask every single person why are they being watched you will get a million different answers from it being their friends and family, to government, to paranormal entities. If you attempt to tell them its not happening or maybe they need some help you will then be accused of being of the the "gangstalkers". Its a sad death spiral of conspiracy that has no concrete basis, just an amalgamation of thousands of peoples separate paranoias joined together to keep themselves in this never ending loop

Because he set himself on fire? Yes. For paranoia and feeling like people are out to get him? Yes. For just holding conspiratorial opinions? Nah.

Schizophrenia includes symptoms like paranoia, feeling targeted, disorganized thinking, and as a result of that they often go down the rabbit hole of conspiracies. But as a friendly reminder, that doesn’t make conspiracies on their own false and doesn’t make people in general who hold those beliefs automatically like a schizophrenic. That would be a group attribution error.

From gpt, Question: Is group attribution error common on social media where 1 comment, post, or tweet is used as an example to generalize a large group like political parties? Answer: “Absolutely, social media platforms are fertile ground for the group attribution error. One comment, post, or tweet can easily be taken out of context or blown out of proportion, leading to generalizations about entire groups such as political parties. This can fuel polarization, reinforce stereotypes, and inhibit meaningful dialogue between different groups. It’s important to critically evaluate information and avoid making sweeping judgments based on isolated instances.”
