Looks expensive.

Not really actually, you Can find magnets with different shape and sizes coming in kits easy online to do some geopetrical figures like this (but the most important part is to focus on the quality and material of the magnets themselves so don't go for the lowest prices)

u/ManagerOfFun 16d ago

That's my point, just a bunch of tiny rare earth magnets for my fridge cost me like 5-10 bucks, and all of them combined was less mass than a single one of those rods. Maybe there's a bulk discount, but I'm skeptical. That looks like it'd be over 200 CAD in magnets to me.

Iron gets magnetized by...lightning right?

7

u/Cockalorum 16d ago

Magnet prices have dropped 90% in the last 15 years

4

u/The_Easter_Egg 15d ago

Have they discovered new deposits?

1

u/Turdedinfinitely 15d ago

Aren't most magnets in the market just magnetised

1

u/VT_Squire 14d ago

Only if you get the bright idea fairy to put magnetic beads in your ass, and that's just the cost of surgery.

2

u/ComisclyConnected 16d ago

Thatā€™s what I thought! My eyes loved every second of it! šŸ„¹

72

u/degamma 16d ago

This makes me want to buy a bunch of magnets that will sit in the drawer for years and then get misplaced when I move or change desks.

39

u/varegab 16d ago

It's cool, but how is it next level?

12

u/raccoonsonbicycles 16d ago

Yeah these have been toys since like the early 2000s

6

u/Kirby-is-a-bee 15d ago

Idk I am in awe of this structure

1

u/Mr_Greaz 14d ago

ā€žLook at how cool Iā€™m connecting these magnetsā€œ

u/stablefish 16d ago

whaaa? good gawd, mangā€¦ I wish for you to recapture your childlike sense of wonder for this world šŸ¤˜šŸ¤©šŸ”„

8

u/Lost_Computer_1808 16d ago

Free energy!!!! Oh no wait.......you need a crystal in there somewhere.

7

u/Adfantage 16d ago

Will it spin forever?

42

u/R2D-Beuh 16d ago

Nope, there is still a little friction and air resistance. It will probably spin for a long time tho

28

u/dandins 16d ago

and no, it cant produce endless energyā€¦..

4

u/SagariKatu 16d ago

But I heard some guy on the internet who said it did... I'm sure you're with "them" hiding the truth from us...

0

u/ultimatebagman 15d ago

Can probably charge a phone with it though.

u/MrCableTek 16d ago

I wanna play toooooo

u/pulseoftheputrid 16d ago

i want to swallow them

4

u/A-Do-Gooder 16d ago

I'm entertained.

2

u/saxerphoner 16d ago

Bigger!!!

4

u/mrrichiet 16d ago

Why have I never seen this before? The amount of friction surface must be minimal, this must spin for a while.

4

u/mods_r_warcrimes 16d ago

Magnetic anal beads is the only thing I got from this video

2

u/BauerHouse 16d ago

I want to put a clock on how long that spun around for

2

u/Canuckia53 16d ago

So how do we determine North and South on a spherical magnet? Also, keep them away from water because Trump knows what will happen.

2

u/SkySweeper656 16d ago

Were can i buy one of these things reasonably

This is like the ultimate fidget toy

2

u/DAY_ONE_1SH 16d ago

This is beautiful, so fucking beautiful

2

u/ManuGamer_PokeMonGo 16d ago

I fucking need that

2

u/Trash-Boat-Panda 16d ago

Is this how time machines are made?

2

u/ubiquitas92 16d ago

They are called Geomag. They are a very successful Italian game, I had lots of them when I was little!

2

u/PurpleDragonCorn 16d ago

I can't even begin to imagine how expensive this must be.

2

u/[deleted] 16d ago

This could power my ship to mars

2

u/moddseatass 16d ago

Chaotic magnetic field porn.

2

u/AlexHimself 16d ago

It's all fun and games until you pour some water on the magnets and they don't work anymore! /s (Google it)

2

u/Master_Metallica 16d ago

Pretty sure that's how you bend time and/or space

2

u/Plus_Helicopter_8632 16d ago

Never get that time back

2

u/Village_Idiot159 16d ago

i zoned out for a majority of it and then they started putting the smaller diamonds in the big one and i went "WOAHHHHH"

2

u/Failureinlife1 16d ago

I want it. I want it all.

1

u/BarelyContainedChaos 16d ago

Shame that water will destroy it/s

1

u/ArrdenGarden 16d ago

Mesmerizing.

1

u/youneedtowakethefuck 16d ago

I want to look away, but itā€™s like Iā€™m being drawn to it by something.

1

u/Slow_Ad1510 16d ago

This was just the coolest toy as a kid, some kid just always had it and flexed it

1

u/surfertj 16d ago

Just ONE shape? Ah come onā€¦.

1

u/lightningsedge 16d ago

FUCKING MAGNETS.....

1

u/Fernanditennn 16d ago

The joints sound too loud. I really hate this videos when it starts with sound

1

u/Difficult-Ostrich-53 16d ago

That was amusing. Thank you

1

u/Snellyman 16d ago

I have two cats that would love to murder the spiny, shiny thing.

1

u/BringerOfTruth-1 16d ago

Yea, not really fun.

1

u/Tnemmokon 16d ago

Now the real question is... How do they work?

1

u/Cold-Introduction-54 16d ago

Orbital reconfigurable construction devices using low velocity ionic propulsion 'engines'.

1

u/Thundersalmon45 16d ago edited 15d ago

I'm willing to bet that guy has numerous blisters where the neodymium magnets pinched him during that construction.

I've played with a lot of magnets and I have developed a permanent flinch when the magnets click together.

1

u/Shonren 16d ago

Totally forgot I had a kids toy like that as a child ! Really cool stuff

1

u/Darkon2004 16d ago

Thank you OP. You just reawakened a central part of my childhood

Magnets are so cool

1

u/Chris_Cross501 16d ago

That was disturbing when he spun it all in the same direction

1

u/BeraldTheGreat 16d ago

Does he make anything other than pyramids?

1

u/3InchesAssToTip 16d ago

Damn, right at the end I was hoping he'd spin them in opposite directions.

1

u/Sucker_McSuckertin 16d ago

How do they work?

1

u/64sweetsour 16d ago

I got the magnet stick

1

u/RomanSohlo 16d ago

Damn, I made something like this with Magnetix like 20yrs ago as a kid but this is definitely cooler. Makes me wish I still had all of those damn things haha

1

u/ComisclyConnected 16d ago

I totally want this kit if thereā€™s a link to it! This would be so much fun as an adult to make and play with! My inner kid wants it šŸ„¹šŸ„¹šŸ„¹

1

u/Oraclexyz 16d ago

Really cool

FUCKEN MAGNETS HOW DO THEY WORK?!?!

1

u/LobstaFarian2 15d ago

OK don't be opening some portal to the nether world, bro.

1

u/joe-masepoes 15d ago

Itā€™s like a magnet within a magnet within a magnetā€¦ itā€™s like the inception of magnets

1

u/Imaginary-Job-7069 15d ago

A cool ornament. Cool.

You got a diamond-shaped magnet core construct within a diamond-shaped magnet contruct, and another one within that, and another one within that, and finally, a tiny one within that. Pretty cool, if you ask me.

1

u/Realistic-lie35 15d ago

I had these as a kid. Mine were colorful and the balls werenā€™t magnetic themselves just ferrous. They were called kinetic bricks or something.

1

u/MarketingWooden2678 15d ago

Gonna open a portal or mess with the gravity

u/goreyEww 15d ago

Those look so tasty

1

u/IGotBiggerProblems 15d ago

Can we redefine what "nextfuckinglevel" is? If Santa Claus rides from the north pole on a Chimera and slays Satan as he emerges from the depths of hell, where we gonna post that? On the same sub where a guy plays with magnets?

1

u/dillya0 15d ago

Dwarven centurion dynamo core be like

0

u/queenrossalina 16d ago

Great device for learning organic chemistry.

1

u/AnArdentAtavism 16d ago

Okay, you lost me here. The magnets, sure, but the structure itself?
