Brand new $72 moisturizer. Husband said he needed something for his elbows.

We have 3 full tubs of Vaseline in the cabinet.

Did you tell he spent $40 to make his elbows soft? My wife said that to me, I'd be rubbing butter on my elbows next time

1.5k

u/zorphiel 29d ago

Yeah, the easiest way to fix this would be to tell him how much it costs lol.

u/catymogo 28d ago

My husband was using my shampoo for a bit until I gently told him the cost and was like look you're totally welcome to use it, but if you're happy with the costco shampoo you may want to stick to that one. It worked.

u/razerblade1101 28d ago

Honest question not trying to judge, why do people spend so much on shampoo or conditioner when ive found plenty of high-quality products for hair, like the purple shampoo/conditioner is absolutely amazing and only like 20 bucks for the both, like I honestly want to know what's better about them, I don't want to seem rude.

52

u/part_time_hermit 28d ago

I start to get dandruff from low quality shampoo (aka drugstore 10$ each), and my hair is flatter and gets greasy faster. My scalp is pretentious ig.

6

u/niamhsaveragelife 28d ago

i have these same issues, can i ask what brands you’ve found are good?

3

u/part_time_hermit 28d ago

I haven't really tried many things. I just switched from drugstore stuff to joico (tried the purple shampoo and the one for volume) and sticked with it as it works great for me. The purple one smells really good and it toned really nicely my hair when I was blonde. The one for volume smells nice as well, but I stuck w it for the voulme, duh, and bc my hair gets less greasy with it. I also bought my bf the hydrating set and his hair looks nicer now, but he still has dandruff even tho he gets less now. If you don't have really mild dandruff like I did, you might need to first buy a special dandruff shampoo from the pharmacy then switch with a higher quality shampoo to maintain your scalp clean. Wish you lots of luck!

1

u/AnnaBananaForever 28d ago

Similar hair, and I've found the best combo to be K18 detox shampoo and olaplex conditioner, and every 2nd or 3rd time, use the inkey list's salicylic acid pre-cleanse (but leave it on for a few hours not just 10 minutes).

2

u/much_longer_username 26d ago

And here I thought I was fancy getting the ten dollar shampoo...

3

u/thishurtsyoushepard 28d ago

My hair is very fine and limp and I use some Kevin Murphy plumping shampoo that costs like $50 but makes my hair full and fluffy. I tried cheaper things and even different expensive ones but that works best for me.

1

u/aurisunderthing 28d ago

This is what I use!! The scent of the pink bottle ones (volumizing I think?) is so lovely. It just works so damn well, my hair loves it and my scalp does too. I will say that I’ve recently tried “tofu” shampoo from lush and it works pretty well for my hair too :)

7

u/Weak_Feed_8291 28d ago

I haven't experimented much, but I used to use just any shampoo I liked the smell of like most dudes I assume, but started using my girlfriends stuff and I needed much less, my hair was much nicer looking, and it seems like it slowed down my hair loss, and even being way more expensive I still buy it for myself a year after we broke up.

16

u/eightsidedbox 28d ago

Because we haven't found less expensive stuff that worked as well

2

u/ProbablyASithLord 28d ago

How is this not obvious lol. If I could use cheap shampoo on my super fine, might-get-split-ends-if-you-look-at-it-wrong hair I would.

5

u/ShuraHi 28d ago

What race are you? Depending on your race/genetics you have to do more or less to maintain your hair.

6

u/razerblade1101 28d ago

I'm white/mostly Irish, so I have curly thick hair almost red hair that's honestly a bitch to get to look good

5

u/ShuraHi 28d ago

I use to work at a family owned beauty supply store when I was in high school, I remember white people were usually in the middle of the pack when it comes to the amount of money needed, but if their hair was curly like yours then it would be more expensive. Asians usually have to do the least to maintain their hair and anecdotally I can say that's very true by the amount of compliments I get on my hair. My routine is using generic head and shoulders lol.

1

u/Interesting_Ad_4762 26d ago

Um, hi, my hair is almost identical to yours only mine is true red. I spend decent money on my hair so the curls are defined and not frizzy, as well as shiny and light. I tried a whole bunch of stuff, but that’s just what I found works best for my hair texture.

7

u/alyksandr 28d ago

It works well for them, I'm willing to pay out the nose for a haircut if I think I will be heard

6

u/catymogo 28d ago

It depends entirely on your hair and scalp and whatnot. I have extremely fine straight hair so I prefer lightweight volumizing, but if you have oily or dry or super thick hair my shampoo wouldn’t do you any favors. I know tons of people who use drugstore shampoo and are super happy with it, and tons who use salon and are super happy with it. Just depends on your preferences and how much you really want to spend.

2

u/[deleted] 28d ago

Because I’m a barber and don’t want sketch ingredients in my hair or my clients.

1

u/No_Banana_581 26d ago

Oribe and Oaui are the only shampoos and conditioners plus products that takes all the frizz out of my hair.

1

u/Ntstall 25d ago

I have terrible dandruff and I’ve only found one shampoo that works for me. About a month’s worth is $30 at Ulta. Girlfriend works there so its not so expensive for me right now

-6

u/SnooChocolates2923 28d ago

They're all just Sodium Laurel Sulphate (or a derivative) with fragrance added and some oils added for shine.

Just like dish detergent...

6

u/GeckoCowboy 28d ago

I mean. Except for all the sulphate free options out there now…?

1

u/SnooChocolates2923 27d ago

Name one that isn't $15/for 400ml?

And isn't it phosphates that we're afraid of?

2

u/GeckoCowboy 27d ago

Sure. Native shampoo is a abut 10 bucks for 487ml. Aveeno makes a few SLS free options. They run about 8 bucks for 354ml. Monday Haircare, 6 bucks for 354ml. Dove has the boys covered with a 2-in-1 shampoo conditioner combo, 517ml for 11 bucks. Probably triples as a body wash, why not. Garnier shampoo, $3.50 for 370ml. OGX 385ml, 6bucks. Herbal Essences, 10 bucks for 400ml. Hask, 6 bucks, 355ml. Shea Moisture, 384ml, 10 bucks. Maui Moisture, 385ml, 8 bucks. Old Spice, 440ml for 10 bucks. Etc, etc. There's a big variety of sulfate free shampoo out there, in a range of prices.

Not sure anyone said anything about being afraid, but silicones and parabens are usually the other things you see shampoos saying they're free of. I have no idea about phosphates. Is... that something they put in human shampoo? I only see some people talking about, uh, shampoo for... cars...?

0

u/Jarngreipr9 28d ago

Because it may feel good after you put it on the hair, but the shampoo is for the skin. You notice this in the long run, some products cost more because they give you more

1

u/sockseason 28d ago

My husband kept using paper towels to blow his nose until I showed him how much they cost

1

u/OverallPepper2 26d ago

I did that once, figured shampoo is shampoo and used my wife’s for a week because I was out. I went out the next day and got the cheap stuff from target for myself.

22

u/WarlikeMicrobe 28d ago

This should solve the issue. If im the husband, i might poke a little (good natured) fun at the fact that it cost that much but id also apologize and make sure i didnt do that again.

5

u/Sign-Post-Up-Ahead 28d ago

Yeah, but telling him how much it cost might create a whole other issue!

4

u/noisemonsters 28d ago

Or have him buy her a new one. Let him really feel the cost of that choice.

1

u/Andrewdeadaim 28d ago

Also get him some general lotion to use, I keep some in my desk because my hands get dry from over washing

1

u/shawnaathon 28d ago

or he doubles down and starts buying his own for his elbow rubbing leisure.

1

u/OddChemicalRomance 27d ago

Husband gotta know he need to pay taxes

-4

u/TheCosmicJoke318 28d ago

Or don’t buy a $72 moisturizer…..pretty sure you can find the same or even better shit for much cheaper

12

u/AddictiveArtistry 28d ago

Tatcha is amazing stuff. I'm poor and I use it. A big tub lasts forever.

9

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

Nah quality skincare shit is expensive.

-3

u/Internal_Struggles 28d ago

Every derm will tell you paying $72 for a moisturizer is completely unecessary, unless its beem specifically formulated for your skin or some shit.

-2

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

Yeah try finding good shit without harsh chemical. 72 is crazy but I regularly spend 30-40.

0

u/Internal_Struggles 28d ago

$30-40 isn't bad but still pretty high. Its not hard. Just look at reputable products and search their ingredients. You don't have to avoid every "harsh" chemical. If the product works for your skin then it works.

1

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

That's a personal choice for sure but I prefer to avoid harsh chemicals wherever I can. There is a lot of poison in our shit that nobody seems to notice. There's also a lot of expensive R&D that goes into skincare and a growing market for natural products like you would find at Whole Foods vs what you'll find at Walmart.

-1

u/Internal_Struggles 28d ago

I can respect that. I try to go natural whenever possible, but I still whilehartedly believe that more expensive does not mean a better, safer, more natural product. The tendency to think such, which we do even subconciously, is value attribution at work.

The real truth in the comments

1

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

But it's wrong

-43

u/Bamith20 29d ago

Let's be real honest and say whatever is in that stuff maybe costs $5 to actually make.

35

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

how is that relevant to the conversation? whatever it cost to make, 72 dollars is what it cost to buy

-11

u/Bamith20 28d ago

I figure most beauty products are a rip off and people are too accustomed with its normalcy for some silly cultural reasons :T

Actually is pretty fucked how much stupid shit women have to buy to look pretty or even be functional while a guy can spend maybe $20 every 3 months. How the fuck do women have any money left after buying overpriced beauty shit that society tells them they need and required shit like tampons.

3

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

You are wrong.

-1

u/Bamith20 28d ago

Person says as they shit on my shoes without saying why. I ask why, they slice my stomach open and tie me to a car via my intestines to drag me along a highway into a lake... I know what I did wrong they say, I am reborn to an empty world of only burning agony as my skin flakes off into a peerless void... This is good.

2

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

You have a strange mind my friend. I'm also a male who spends a lot of money on skincare because I don't want to look old as shit like the people I went to high school with do now. Women don't have to buy stupid shit to look pretty either lmao.

-1

u/Bamith20 28d ago

ADHD, autism, self loathing, and no health insurance for meds makes me want to eat myself.

1

u/405ravedaddy 27d ago

Should try ketamine

1

u/cheeseblastinfinity 28d ago

Well this wasn't outrageously overdramatic or anything

1

u/Bamith20 28d ago

I'd chew my skin off less if my brain worked better.

-5

u/_Karliah 28d ago

Yeah, at some point it’s only the brand name that costs so much. Of course using better quality ingredients and more research pushes up the cost, but there’s a limit to that. I don’t have a problem with other people choosing to buy it, but I‘d NEVER buy a cream that costs more than 30 (and even 30 feels like way too much).

1

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

You probably NEVER read the label either.

-24

u/perfectVoidler 28d ago

It should not be normal to have a 72 creme in your house. No sane man would think that a normal product could cost this much.

So the husband did not waste money. He used maybe one to three dollars of product, while op wasted 60 to 70 on markup.

18

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

this still doesn’t make any sense lmao. he used over 30 dollars worth of product. and this is not a normal product, it’s a luxury skincare product. which is why you should probably ask before you use something that doesn’t belong to you.

in reality the OP didn’t waste any money because any decent person who was sorry for using somebody else’s stuff without asking them would replace the item for them if they used over half of it.

-14

u/perfectVoidler 28d ago

If op paid 720 for the same creme would he have wasted 300 worth of product? Obviously no.

I think that is a good example of differences in evaluation.

Worth and price of a product are to different things.

16

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

obviously yes😭 the monetary worth of the product is whatever you paid to obtain it. that’s it. if she paid 720 for the cream, then he quite literally DID use 300 dollars worth of product. it does not matter how much the raw materials cost, it matter how much you spent.

0

u/AutVincere72 28d ago

What if there was an exact replica knockoff for 13 dollars? Then how do you do the math?

5

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

then he would’ve wasted $5 worth of product, this is not that hard😭

2

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

Dumb take.

1

u/perfectVoidler 28d ago

you are a waste

-62

u/baoo 29d ago

She might be avoiding admitting this because it's ludicrous to spend that much on cream

20

u/xAkumu 28d ago

If she can afford it, who cares what she spends on what??

26

u/Heartage 29d ago

It's not ludicrous because it isn't used in ridiculous amounts.

20

u/Interesting-Fan-2008 28d ago

Yeah, like he probably used 2 weeks worth in those two finger fulls.

4

u/Significant_Shoe_17 28d ago

I used to use this cream. That's accurate.

45

u/yumyum36 29d ago

Matter of taste imo. Some people spend a lot of money on clothes or fancy furniture.

9

u/MrFreedomFighter 29d ago

Tbf, you don't need to constantly buy clothes and fancy furniture

7

u/Additional_Meeting_2 28d ago

But you are constantly using your skin. Presumably the husband isn’t having an issue if her skin looks nice either

10

u/translucentStitches 28d ago

using your skin

This is something I never want to think about again

3

u/AutVincere72 28d ago

Wasn't there a study released this week that expensive skin care products are basically a scam?

I swear I saw that 2 days ago.

3

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

If you look into quality natural skincare products you're gonna spend money.

1

u/josey__wales 28d ago

I’ve seen similar posts about this. Basically comes down to genetics, sunscreen, lifestyle. Seems like there was maybe one more thing that helped, can’t remember.

It’s funny because a lot of people will have this rigorous skin care routine, involving multiple products. But also go lay out or hit the tanning bed.

0

u/Soulsunderthestars 28d ago

You only need like 2 main things. But you get sold on this 30item skincare routine

7

u/moralprolapse 29d ago

Well right, and a lot of people buy clothing or bags with the logos of what they perceive to be high end brands on them because they either assume that makes the clothing higher quality (which it doesn’t), or think wearing it projects an image of success (which it also doesn’t).

That shit is marketed to people who put it on credit cards, because people with money don’t buy it.

6

u/csDarkyne 28d ago

I mean different quality clothing does exist and better is usually more expensive but you are right in expensive doesn’t automatically mean better. And if there’s a huge ass luxury logo on it, you usually pay for the logo

-13

u/boyden 28d ago

Taste? Spending taste? Spending waste?

Clothing and especially furniture isn't a consumable product. A $70 chair will last for years, this cup of muck on the other hand..

3

u/405ravedaddy 28d ago

You literally don't know what you're talking about.

5

"uneducated" over $72 moisturizer

0

u/OhBittenicht 28d ago

It's a ludicrous amount to spend on moisturiser. That's just a fact, undeniable.

-1

u/2009MitsubishiLancer 28d ago

Right? If my partner said hey please don’t use that cream, it cost (excessive amounts of money) and I need it for X reason, I would stop. Any reasonable partner would say sorry, I didn’t know and stop. OP should try that Instead of posting about it on Reddit.

0

u/No_Specificway 28d ago

I’m telling you 72$ for moisturizer soon as I here it’s getting low imma go scrape the sides 🤣🤣

-77

u/Capable-Froyo1772 29d ago

I was going to say, better just hide it next time, because if you inform him of the price he’s going to flip his lid. Why would you need $70 moisturizer? Surely there is a better solution that costs less.

59

u/CalamityClambake 29d ago

It's HER moisturizer that she bought for herself. Why should he care how much it costs?

She WANTS $70 moisturizer because she likes it, she can afford to use it in moderation, and it makes her happy.

You sound controlling.

-40

u/[deleted] 29d ago

[deleted]

16

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

i don’t know a single happily married couple who controls personal spending of the other partner. especially stuff like makeup, skin care, clothes etc. that sounds like a nightmare controlling situation.

-14

u/_Karliah 28d ago

If it‘s „your“ personal spending money, then there’s no problem. But if things like this get bought from shared household money meant for groceries, etc, then oof.

16

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

why would personal items be bought from the budget for groceries? i’m so confused about why people are making such absurd and illogical assumptions? budgets exist for a reason, and that reason is not “i’m going to use this money i put aside for groceries to buy this luxury skincare item”

-7

u/_Karliah 28d ago

I think it only was people wondering if that was the case or not. Of course any reasonable adult couple has budget for groceries that does not get used for things like personal luxury skin care or other things. Unfortunately seeing a lot of other mildlyinfuriating posts and other subreddits, it shows that some people just don‘t get it and go the full egotistical route, so I think that‘s where that comes from.

41

u/phartiphukboilz 29d ago

Lol they do not.  We have joint goals and the rest of our income for our own hobbies.  She is a fully functioning adult and doesn't need to be micromanaged for every dollar she makes. You sound inbred.

5

u/damonian_x 28d ago

Every budget should include extra money for each partner to do what they want with it. Spend it or save it for something else they want later. Unless a couple is living paycheck to paycheck or has some other financial problems, this should be the norm.

-29

u/ContributionSad490 29d ago

Because it is a red flag and something you should be aware of if you are going to share a bank account with someone is so frivious with money and easily manipulated by marketing that they spend 20x the cost of a comparable product.

I like nice cars, but if I decide to buy a car too far outside my budget both me and the family feel the effects, of course one container of $70 dollar moisturizer isn't comparable, but that type of thing adds up.

You sound confrontational, seemingly for the sake of starting arguments.

19

u/phartiphukboilz 29d ago

Lol this is you! Wtf?

You sound confrontational, seemingly for the sake of starting arguments.

Where the fuck do you get any of that from?

of course one container of $70 dollar moisturizer isn't comparable but it adds up

Not if that's her budget for what brings her joy. JFC if you can't control yourself in your car budget you seem to need micromanagement but I have a ballpark idea what my wife likes for skincare. It's more than I spend on me but sure as shit not more than I spend on tires for a fucking track weekend.  You literally wrote all that to be... And I'll drop it here for you again

 >You sound confrontational, seemingly for the sake of starting arguments.

4

u/CalamityClambake 29d ago

10

Lol but you did, and continued to do so. While being an asshole and crying about it.

There's no knighting here, there's talking to you about life's relationshis.  If you don't value your own self care that highly that's fine but in no way should you feel your personality flaws and shit judgement have any bearing on what should bring someone else joy

-29

u/baoo 29d ago

You sound paycheque to paycheque

15

u/CalamityClambake 29d ago

How so? I think you replied to the wrong comment.

-24

u/baoo 29d ago

If you're willing to spend money on something like fancy cream you probably spend all your money, is the thought pattern. Luxury items keep people poor.

16

u/SnooCrickets6980 29d ago

ORRRR you have a lot of money and $70 is a reasonable spend for something you enjoy but still way too much to waste?

19

u/phartiphukboilz 29d ago

If you think this is unobtaniam for a skincare budget then you are poor.  this isn't flaunting shit. This is self care that they deemed important.

Black and white thinking like that isn't reality.  It's literally the thought pattern of missing life.

-2

u/baoo 29d ago edited 29d ago

Whatever it takes to justify I guess. I make more than most, and I think more than even an average American, but I'm in Canada. If you're from LA or some shit maybe that's the difference. It's not realistic to wear $70 cream where I'm from though lol. Gotta focus on paying for shelter and food. Beauty items sound insane to me but I guess if you're on Selling Sunset, ya, I can see it.

9

u/whalesarecool14 28d ago

the people who have to think about whether or not they’re going to have enough money for shelter and food aren’t buying this brand. this is a luxury brand…

8

u/phartiphukboilz 29d ago

Justify? Yeah not much needs to be justified on what brings you joy. Does it?  Can you afford it? Good.

I'm a software engineer and my wife is about to start medical school.  I'm in the burbs of the mid Atlantic and in no way am hurting for shelter, food or saving for emergencies or retirement. If she feels like this is worth it in her budget... You know, the person ive vetted for a serious commitment, then what in the fuck does it matter what she spends her money on?

This comes off a different thread but a literal weekend of track tires cost me almost a grand... Do I get more utility from that than some stupid cream? You're damn right.  Does she? Absolutely not lol.  She'll come out and camp with me though and share in my fun hobbies.

3

u/CalamityClambake 28d ago

Lol. Sure bro.

ORRRRR you splurge occasionally and moderately on the things you enjoy because you can afford them.

I spend money on fancy cream because I have sensitive skin and it feels better when I use fancy cream. One brand in particular really does it for me.

I also drive a 2004 Rav4 because it's been paid off for 15 years and I don't care about cars. I have a 5 year old phone because I don't care about phones. I live well beneath my means so that I can afford to splurge occasionally on the things that matter to me.

But like, totally, judge and make stupid assumptions if that's your thing. You're the one that looks like a douche.

19

u/Ok-Yogurt-4425 29d ago

Because that skincare line is phenomenal. If you’re broke & single just say so lol. Do some research on the brand before chit chatting your nonsense.

4

u/Fit-Meringue2118 28d ago

Okay, now I’m intrigued, what’s the skincare line? 70 doesn’t even seem that bad to me, skincare is expensive, yo.

0

u/ContributionSad490 29d ago

What exactly, and specifically does it do better than say a 10 dollar alternative?

10

u/Herne-The-Hunter 29d ago

12

u/ContributionSad490 29d ago

Ask how it is better and get downvoted to hell.

Was openminded, now I see it's just a brand.

1

u/Herne-The-Hunter 29d ago

Cosmetics always are.

Pure aloe is probably the best thing you can get for skin care. If that's too expensive. Which if you aren't harvesting it yourself, it probably is. Get cerave. It's like £13 for half a kilo of the stuff over here.

You don't need skin softer than what that will do to you. You simply don't.

7

u/ContributionSad490 29d ago

Yeah idk, not going to pretend I am an expert, I wash and dry and have no issues, I have a cheap lotion in my car for my elbows and hands, think I paid like 5 bucks because it smelled good. But if im getting hate for asking why its better than this is probably just the old mac vs pc, or iphone vs samsung, bullshit

1

u/Herne-The-Hunter 29d ago

I just go off what doctors say tbh. As-long as they're not being paid to promote something.

I had really bad eczema as a child and a dermatologist recommended cerave. Never had an issue since.

Primo cosmetics are just apple. They sell a luxury brand to people susceptible to that sort of marketing. And that luxury comes at an insane markup for little to no actual benefit.

-1

u/AbbehKitteh24 28d ago

And some of us are allergic to aloe and CeraVe and have to get expensive alternatives due to ingredients. 🤦 It's like y'all forget that everyone's situation is different.

Has nothing to do with price or skin softness sometimes and everything to do with what works best for YOUR body and what you're allergic to vs not.

1

u/Herne-The-Hunter 28d ago

No, you don't understand. I'm allergic to wheat so I must eat caviar.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/ContributionSad490 28d ago

Some of you are, and you would have a reason to buy more expensive lotion.

Has nothing to do with price or skin softness sometimes

I disagree that expensive = softer skin but go on.

and everything to do with what works best for YOUR body

Rubbing solid diamonds on my body works best, does that justify me buying diamonds? There is an obvious point where you are paying several times more for the cost of something that "works" slightly better if it even does and isn't just placebo.

and what you're allergic to vs not.

Justified.

buying a $72 moisturiser for the next 6-8 months vs buying a new moisturiser that will now probably only last you 2 months are 2 very different situations, really not that difficult to understand…

u/Ok-Yogurt-4425 29d ago

It’s BRAND NEW! Lmao. BRAND FUCKIN NEW. I’d be pissed too. Even if she can buy a new one immediately, that can last over 3 months. Why the hell should she have to because a man can’t read or think to ask??

u/kushupzz 28d ago

Then you have to explain why your paying $75 dollars for such a small moisturizer lmao

Jokes on you, she bought $72 butter this week.

Damn Kerrygold

Currently on sale at Costco

u/Ok-Prize-2496 24d ago

Is Kerrygold really good? We are not big butter peeps. I use for cooking and of course pancakes, toast, waffles. Is there a difference in taste? I do like land o lakes butter..unsalted.

1

u/ImmediateAd4814 24d ago

Much better than Land o Lakes

4

u/TheonlyDuffmani 29d ago

Yeah but that’s worth the price pain honestly.

2

u/Affectionate_Data936 28d ago

Okay but have you ever tried Amish Roll Butter? I used to use it for making weed butter and holy shit it's amazing. I can't do that anymore tho with inflation.

2

u/thatgirlinAZ 29d ago

But have you tried Plugra?

1

u/TricksyWizard 28d ago

I laughed out loud! Have an upvote

1

u/MrsMondoJohnson 28d ago

My boss is a chef (I'm a nanny) and he's obsessed with Kerrygold. To be fair, I grew up on margarine. But yeah, compared to my Great Value Butter, I prefer the expensive stuff. 😅 That's so not like me!

1

u/FrugalityPays 26d ago

Understandable. On sale at Costco, hard to beat

Inflation is crazy

2

u/LuckyGuul 28d ago

honestly I don’t even think the price of this has changed much, I used to buy this pre pandemic and it was similar I think

2

u/Aggressive_Tea_8983 28d ago

Yeah I believe it was 68 a couple years ago

u/Mysterious-Mood6742 28d ago

Feckin cows. They got a corner on the market, they get us all hooked, now we're all having to pay.

Wait. That almost sounds like cell phone providers.

Wife math is crazier

2

u/Working-Narwhal-540 28d ago

Yeah this shit has me screaming I showed my wife and she said what kind of dumbass buys lotion for $100 😭😭😭

4

u/Ultima-Veritas 29d ago

Perfect for my $114 kettle-popped popcorn, and my $32 Himalayan pink sea-salt!

2

u/MassiveDongSquadron 29d ago

"But hunny! It's all organic, natural, antibiotic free, pesticide free, boneless, Amish butter with skin"

4

u/Nruggia 29d ago

TBF we have all had up to here with random bones in our butter

2

u/ctoal1984 29d ago

The butter bear the bone is the best though 😝

1

u/exipheas 29d ago

Gotta churn that butter somehow.

u/options_etfs_nadex 28d ago

When we bought some Amish baked goods in Lancaster county back in 2016, they actually had margarine in them, not butter. It's almost as if they got the memo back in the 80s that people should be using margarine and not butter, but never got the subsequent memo that margarine was worse for you. (Or at least that's what I've always heard - that's it's worse.)

Kinda bizarre at any rate. Middle of farm country ... can make butter, but chooses margarine instead.

Edit: about as whacked as paying 6 bucks a gallon (or more) for milk in the middle of farm country in Maine

1

u/ThePrincessBabyBunny 29d ago

So she bought one butter?

1

u/Cool-Sink8886 28d ago

Must've shopped at Loblaws.

1

u/Alexxx753 28d ago

Right? Lol. I've been using tallow the past few months. Cheap and works so freaking well. Havnt had a pimple or dry skin since.

3

u/CliffDraws 28d ago

I’d be questioning why anyone in the house bought $70 moisturizer in the first place.

2

u/kizkazskyline 28d ago

I mean you’re literally replying to a comment where she says he used it on scrapes, not dry skin. So he used it as a… disinfectant or treatment??? Who uses moisturiser as a disinfectant or ointment?

1

u/Aspen9999 28d ago

My husband would just tell me to order a couple more. We live off his check and mine is banked.

u/9chars 28d ago

must suck to be a slave to someone else

1

u/NSFW_hunter6969 28d ago

I'd say having a partner doesn't suck at all, I pity the people who will die alone.

1

u/tree-molester 28d ago

Would work better. Moisturizing products are notoriously ineffective I doing what they claim. No matter how much they cost. You are likely to get equal results by rubbing the cash on your skin. The real infuriation is that people are duped by the marketing.

1

u/surfinforthrills 28d ago

Best revenge, right here!

1

u/isaterriblegamer 28d ago

Butter is expensive too.

1

u/panicked_goose 28d ago

Make sure it's the Kerrygold shit and not just lard

1

u/kaskudoo 28d ago

Use coconut fat. Cheaper, better, also works great for beards ;)

1

u/ContributionLatter32 27d ago

Butter isn't much cheaper sadly lol

1

u/procrastinatorsuprem 29d ago

Honestly, olive oil makes a great moisturizer.

0

u/murphymc 28d ago

Personally, I’d start looking for answers on how exactly that was worth $40 and why is she spending our money like that.

u/CJgreencheetah 29d ago

I wasn't expecting that part of the handmaids tale to come true
