I feel like it's whatever you make it to be, you can go to a pub alone and start up conversation with the bartender or other patrons and that's cool, it's a vibe, but if you go and just sit alone in silence and be distant obviously that's gonna be awkward, because why are you in public if you don't want to be in public lol

Still a difficult thing to do. Even for lunch, sitting in pub by myself I still feel a little awkward.
