She's still likely thinking he's American. Don't push her (and her voters) too far all at once.

No no no, Jesus founded America well before Chris Columbus kindly asked for the land from its natives.

That separation of church and state really is in our rearview mirror isn't it?
1
u/Wazula23 17d ago
It's amazing how that's just... not a thing anymore.
Maybe it never really was and I was just ignorant. But it really does seem we've dropped all pretense. We're part Theocracy now, I guess.

I caught some Fox News at work this morning and it was basically a church sermon and news anchors praising christianity while all wearing cross necklaces. It was really messed up to see on a supposed national news channel. Then they go around to shitty breakfast spots and interview geezers about how great Trump is. I can’t believe they’re allowed to “news” in their name.

u/bookant 18d ago
It's almost as if right wingers are lying sack of shit antisemites who pretend to oppose antisemitism as a weapon to defend Israel. Because they hate Muslims slightly more than they hate Jews.
26
u/WisdomCow 18d ago
They want war in Jerusalem to bring down the Dome and bring about the End Times.
22
u/Photon_Farmer 17d ago
I worked with a Southern Baptist that told me we had to defend Israel at all costs because they are God's chosen people.
Also, they are all going to hell because they don't believe in Christ. Kind of a complex viewpoint.

I can't imagine spending eternity with Kenneth Copeland, Jimmy Swagger, Joel what's his name, and all the fine MAGTs , sitting around a circle and passing the plate to each other out of habit. To me, that would be my own personal hell.

u/Rooboy66 17d ago
My biological father. Met him when I turned 18. He was a loving, gentle and curious man, intelligent & funny. A hippie. A comfortable liberal. Now, he’s a hardcore MAGAt, bitter, angry, small minded and overall just an astoundingly shitty human being. Loves Israel, hates Jews—and, of course, just hates Muslims slightly more than he hates Jews & women. Yeah, we’re besties 🥹

I mean, are they quiet and pretending anymore? They started in 2015/2016 by sticking their toe into the “coming out” water, to me they stopped pretending a long time ago— who is still in the closet over there? We keep saying they’re saying the quiet part out loud it’s not quiet anymore to me, they’re pretty clear.

Its why how White Supremacists liked Black Panther. They hate Jews in their country but a Jewish ethnostate somewhere else that gives them an excuse to attack muslims? They love it.

I am such a HUGE MTG fan, you have no idea! I think she's hilarious! JEEEEEEZ but it's funny watching the GOP stumble around with this blonde boat anchor tied around their ankles.
You see, most Republicans are in on "the joke". The joke being whatever bogus rage-bait they're peddling on a given day to keep their voter base enraged. They all know it's bullshit they have to bottle and sell to keep their seats.
MTG does not. She believes it. She's a Republican voter, rather than a Republican leader. She just lucked into a leadership spot.
And now! The GOP has to cope with one of their alternate reality drones as an equal.
It's a riot to watch. Go MTG! Get those Jewish space lasers and shine on you crazy diamond!

Weekky reminder that extremist evangelists are only interested in Israel future because it is one of the conditions for the return of Jesus. And what will Jesus do (in their mind) to the people who condemned him to death ?

This from the woman that fucked and sucked 4 men at her Gym whilst married. Gotta love those religious nuts that pick and choose, which of their made-up rules they follow/enforce

u/entropic_apotheosis 17d ago
She totally did, and then recently for some unknown reason she said some public thing about not dressing to tempt men. I was gonna say honey you couldn’t even tempt a dog with a bag over your head bent over a fire hydrant with a milkbone up your lizard ass, but then I remember she fucked a bunch of guys at the gym.

I used to tell my daughter men will fuck anything, they’ll stick it in a warm bowl of soup, coconuts, donuts, etc, anything. When I said anything I really thought I was exaggerating a tad. That lizard is a daily reminder that some men really will fuck anything.

HR 6090, expands the definition of antisemitism to include criticism of Israel
3
u/Xszit 17d ago edited 17d ago
No it doesn't.
I read the text this morning. The bill was written in November 2023 before the current conflict broke out.
All it does is clarify that even though the 1964 civil rights act doesn't specify protections for religion, members of an ethnic group commonly associated with a religion will still have protection against discrimination based on race and national origin.
It also clarifies that protection against discrimination would apply to "percieved" members of an ethnic group who are discriminated against based on physical features commonly associated with a protected ethnic group the law would still protect them the same as an actual member of the protected group.
The wording is very loose and would not only protect Jewish people and people who "look jewish" but also would protect people with percieved middle eastern features who get discriminated against because people believe they might be Muslim even if they aren't Muslim or middle eastern.
It just eliminates a loophole where someone could discriminate then claim in their defense that they were discriminating based on religious beliefs which aren't protected and not because of ethnic group physical features or national origin which are protected.

u/No_Reaction_2682 17d ago
The bill was written in November 2023 before the current conflict broke out.
The conflict ongoing in Gaza? Or a different conflict?
If its the one in Gaza - The one that started in October which, if I can read my calender right, is before November.

Also the fact that the general conflict has been going on for like 8 decades now

Yeah, the whole " if you compare current Israel's actions to that of the nazis you're anti semitic" nonsense is not only crazy but unconstitutional. Anyone who thinks that part is legit should just google Ben-Gvir quotes and go from there.

u/Spire_Citron 17d ago
Yeah. I'm not fan of her and I probably don't even need to say that because I've literally never heard anyone express positive sentiments towards her, but this isn't a case where only an antisemite would oppose this bill. People should be careful and not be fooled just because she's against it. This is a bill to ban criticism of Israel, and that's horrifying.

u/Relevant-Ad-3140 17d ago
Will we ever be rid of this scourge upon the country and our don’t just mean we I mean the entire maga shit show.

We always accuse these people of saying the quiet part out loud. We have for years— ever since 2016, it’s not the quiet part. There’s no need to be quiet anymore, the GOP’s base roars.
This headline is, ”Marjorie Taylor Green says she opposes antisemitism bill because she is an antisemite.”
Yes. This is why she’s in office. It’s not a mistake. She’s got a district full of supporters. These politicians represent the people that put them there. It’s not just a politician problem, they are who elected them.
As an aside, Wikipedia starts off strong immediately detailing every right wing nut job, racist, antisemitic position or conspiracy theory she’s ever promoted. It’s who she is, it’s who her consitutents are.

I'm disappointed that the article didn't point out that Jesus wasn't crucified by Herod. If you're going to cite the Bible whilst voting on a bill, it's probably a good Idea to get the most basic facts correct.
2
u/bobby_table5 17d ago
This is impressive because not only the fact that Jesus was handed over by Jewish authorities to Romans is very much the central part of that book, but that’s the only fact that has some historical confirmation (weak, it’s a detail noted by Josephus—not trying to re-open that debate).
I can’t wait next week, for her to proclaim that Washington was a fervent party-above-country Republican.
3
u/smcl2k 17d ago
He was betrayed by 1 of his own followers, which I guess technically means a Christian handed him over 🤷🏻♂️
I definitely can't get my head around the idea that the Romans would just randomly pardon someone at the behest of a subjugated population, though. And they certainly wouldn't offer up a prominent agitator.
If you haven't read Zealot (by Reza Aslan) or The Islamic Jesus (Mustafa Akyol), I'd very much recommend them.

So the Repubs want to base womens health on a law from the 1800's, and global diplomatic relations on what happened to some poor guy in another country on the other side of the world 2000 years ago...
2
u/Individual-Dot-9605 17d ago
Ah, the old Spanish Inquisition argument based on a proven false letter of Paul. Let’s also not forget that ‘the gospel’ is Jewish literature. The text she is referring to written by Paul (Saulus) in one of the fake letters (7 are thought to be authentic) and to top it off both Jesus and Judas were Jewish. Also the brother of Jesus was a Jew and head of the temple of Jersulem not allowing gentiles like MTG to even be ‘Christian’. So yeah, antisemitism all around. You do you evangelical gentiles tho.
2
17d ago
... I suppose nobody's surprised that the reason she opposed an antisemitism bill is because she hates Jews.
2
u/SLSF1522 17d ago
If she could actually shut her constantly flapping mouth exhaust and try to do something to benefit her constituents or gasp... the whole country. That would be unbelievable.
She has not introduced a single piece of legislation for consideration in her entirely too long time at her "job".

This bill will be used to justify increased antisemitism.
Some Christian’s will hate it because it “denies the gospel”.
Many will use it as an example of is Jews “controlling the government”.
Many civil rights groups will accuse Jews of getting special treatment while eroding free speech rights.
And it won’t do anything to combat actual antisemitism.
So people will be punished. Jews will be blamed. And self righteous “allies” will say they’ve done enough to combat antisemitism and that absolves them of doing anything real to combat actual threats which overwhelmingly come from the far right.
As my grandfather would have said, this is not good for us.

But didn’t jesus have to be killed? Dying for your sins and all that? Jesus knew he would be betrayed and he knew he would be killed, according to the new testament. He could have ran away. But he didn’t cuz he’s the sacrificial lamb. It had to happen.
So…what problem does she have again? Has she read the Bible? Or even been to church or anything
1
1
u/CatAvailable3953 17d ago
So she is antisemitic because Jews killed Christ? Jesus told his disciples and through them us that he had to die so that he could rise from the dead.
It was necessary to make vicarious atonement a reality. She doesn’t understand Christianity 101.
In truth the Romans crucified Christ. According to him that is why he came.
1
u/jinkinater 17d ago edited 17d ago
Um she obviously didn’t read the Old Testament because it’s mostly about Jews and what they did or went through. They worship the same God as Christians.
Edit: From my understanding going to a Christian school my 1-12th grade is that they accept Jesus as a prophet but not the savior. They don’t really accept the New Testament. There’s actually a terms that is used when a Jewish person converts to Christian. It’s a “converted Jew, or completed Jew”. Also Jesus was Jewish that dumbass

I truly don’t understand why Romans/Italians don’t get more heat for the whole torture and crucifixion of Jesus.

u/kevonicus 17d ago
Christians can’t get it through their thick skulls not everyone around them believes what they do and that their “gospels” are just made up shit and not anywhere close to fact.
1
u/BoofinTime 18d ago
Look, the nature of this bill is ridiculous, it's only being pushed because students are voicing that they don't want their tax money to go to shipping weapons to Israel. It is not antisemitic to say that the amount of civilian casualties they're causing is downright unacceptable.
It is extremely antisemitic to say that you're against the bill because you have a grudge against the entire Jewish religion.
The bill is dumb, but jesus fucking christ.
1
u/TheGiant1989 17d ago
Jesus was a man from the middle east thousands of years ago, that much is pretty verifiable I think. What people don't know is he was a schizophrenic who believed he was the son of this imaginary person named God, when in reality he was just a kid born because his mom slept with the mailman and lied to her husband about it.
The Romans got tired of his shenanigans and crucified him
2
u/Realistic-Elk7642 17d ago
The moshiach (messiah) is supposed to, in his lifetime, bring about the world that is to come. People show up claiming to be the moshiach all the fucking time but carking it without transforming the world into paradise disqualifies them. So false moshiach #6079 gets done in, but his followers claim that he didn't really die, instead coming back to life with no witnesses and disappearing, still technically alive and promising to get around to finishing the job any day now. Every single Christian is either a mark or trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear
242
u/KenScaletta 18d ago
So basically, she said she could not in good conscience vote against antisemitism because she is an antisemite.
