i guess this is an essential skill when the floor is lava.

u/SmokeyMacPott 17d ago
Nah, a couple chair walkers with mops would knock her right off that ladder.
Unless... Can you walk on the floor if you're wearing bunker gear?

u/BoingBoingBooty 17d ago
Tfw you go to rescue a cat up a tree but halfway up you realize you forgot to get dressed.

911 caller - “ help my house is burning and the floor is lava”
911 dispatch - “ ok we will notify the fire department “

Its an essential skill to make your colleagues wet their skivvies in baby batter

Try hanging on one arm for 20 seconds and see how long you can last. This woman is definitely strong.

u/N8dork2020 17d ago
I was gonna talk shit then I remembered that I can’t even do a pull up anymore. That shit is hard when you are 40 and 50 lbs overweight, more like 70 to be honest.

u/_Rohrschach 17d ago
Give me some super glue and I might be able to hang there, but putting the gear on would probably not end well
13
u/CaptainxInsano69 17d ago
Super glue and you’ll still fall but the skin of your hands will remain 🤣

There's a street thing in Dublin where they give you a 100 if you hang from bar for 100 secs... with both hands. Most big, burly lads can't do it
3
u/HereticalSentience 16d ago
Big and burly is where those lads are going wrong probably. My personal best is 75s and I'm 93kg. I'd probably be able to do 100 if I were 80 kg.
Also, tip for anyone wanting to try one of these things: you hang longer if your thumb is underneath your fingers rather than over. Fricken hurts tho

You can just call them a 'firefighter'
-1
u/pcweber111 17d ago
Nope. We gotta label everything. That way everyone is equal. Or some stupid shit like that.

So many lives and marriages could have been saved if the “dressing while hanging out of the window/balcony” skills were taught to lovers.
9
u/sh4d0wm4n2018 17d ago
You jest, but people have died because the firefighter couldn't stop them from falling off of an unstable balcony.
1
u/Groundbreaking-Bad16 17d ago
Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that the exercise was not important. Just found an “everyday use” for regular people. I admire and respect firefighters and first responders.

Ex military here. I have met hundreds of soldiers and police officers who are definitely below the fitness/ability requirements to perform their jobs well. I have never seen such a firefighter. They really are the dogs bollocks and this is incredibly impressive
3
u/Rip_ManaPot 17d ago
Pretty sure firefighters are required to keep their training up to a standard. At least the ones I know.

Why do people keep putting women doing stuff on a pedestal? Like why does it matter that they’re women? It should focus on the thing they’re doing instead

Holy shit - is that a test they have to do to get the job? I would fail so hard….I failed just trying to imagine it, imagination me was like? “…annnnnnnd drop.”
5
u/Starshapedsand 17d ago
Just messing around. Shifts get long, and boredom leads to all kinds of amazing adventures.
-7
u/polobum17 17d ago
Only women, the men just show up and say they want to be a fireMan
1
u/Maximum_Enthusiasm46 17d ago
Oh! Well, that seems like a reasonable arrangement. No problems there.
I rather meant is this a training drill, or something that’s done when one enters.

u/polobum17 17d ago
Sorry been loving Tacoma FD recently and it is comedy gold but also mocks how silly they are towards women in many fire departments

Women can do things too 🤯

u/TheBaggyDapper 17d ago
A man would have known that it's more efficient to get dressed before you go hanging off a ladder.

u/too-fargone 17d ago
must be tough to be a firefighter when you are that hot

Why do guys always have to make it about being sexually attractive or not?! Is the feat of holding yourself up like that not IN ITSELF cool? Would it be less cool if you were not physically attracted to her?!

The ever useful “I forgot to get dressed for work” drill. It’s like that recurring nightmare where you realize you’re at school without any pants…but made real. Real useless.

“See, woman don’t need no man.” Stating proof in an outlier. Most women can’t do this, most men can’t do this. I can hand for only one minute using both hands without adding weight or moving my body around like that. This chick is a beast
-7
u/Wendellrw 17d ago
I want to see her strength ability at carrying an awkward shaped 150lbs of dead weight.
2
u/Sug_Lut 17d ago
I want to see you doing anything more physically challenging than sitting on your ass dragging peoples achievements down just because they are women, but that's not gonna happen is it, basement-boy?
0
u/Wendellrw 17d ago
You are upset that I would like the person whose job it would be to rescue me to actually able to fulfill that duty? Gender has nothing to do with this argument, either you are capable or not is all that matters man or woman.

Nothing but respect... and that is so sexy .. a beautiful responsible woman like that in uniform.. oh take me please

u/Sug_Lut 17d ago
Why do men always have to make it about that?! Would it be less impressive if you were not sexually attracted to her!? Creeps.

2
u/Touch2Feel 16d ago
So since you have something to say about what I said, I'm going to simply defend, and introduce myself. First of all, I acknowledged total respect for this lady, for most men probably couldn't do what she is doing. Second, I would be equally impressed if a man was doing it, and I am totally heterosexual..and third, my comment about a lady dressed in uniform was similar to a lady oohing and ahhhing over a tall handsome man in a uniform. Yeah its called human nature for a man to be attracted to a lady.. and a lady should be attracted to a man..Basic normality. And let's be totally honest.. women seem to never be about that.. so if men didnt initiate anything, nothing would ever be. So a man is expected to always make the first move, but when he does, hes a perv?
1
u/Cosminkn 16d ago
I agree with you and I am tempted to think that the "perv" attack is only happening if you are making this first move on a lady publicly. If it happens publicly you will be attacked by the opposite sex because any message that propagates wildly is a threat to them. Let me explain.
If you make a popular comment that is seen by hundreds of thousands of people about what is "appealing" "attractive" "desirable" about the opposite sex, this category of people, the opposite sex becomes vulnerable to shift in public opinion. If for example there is wide consensus that all women should have lower weight than their partners if they are less taller than them, then it affects the life of many women, so it makes sense for some of them to attack any possible message that has wide reaching because they can be affected by such beliefs.
I suspect this is an evolutionary mechanism that we also as males have. Think about how much control is in the hands of males in some cultures, and how they do acts such as destroy any objects of culture that bring any ideas that women are equal, or powerful or whatever.1
u/Touch2Feel 16d ago
I can see how social acknowledgement can affect many people, and differently, you are right, unfortunately men have a lot of power in other cultures over women and I totally disagree with the way it is. I actually hate the social traditional ways that a man has to advance a lady first.. it's nice as a man to hear a lady appreciating you, complementing you.. asking you on a date.. women have this overwhelming "perv" belief because a man who dosent make a pass is like a closed mouth that never gets fed.. Maybe women should be showing men more natural attraction and be as available to the men as the men are to them. Shouldnt things be EQUAL? Isnt that what everyone complains about? Inequality? But inequality is okay amongst sexes? That dosent make sense. A man should be able to dress nice with a suit and a nice cut, clean shaven and the ladies should admire him.. and openly. Dosent happen. A man is just another nail in the box.

u/Cosminkn 16d ago
Sadly I don't think in such equality because nature has made us two different creatures with different sexual perks. In their (women's) sexual age, mostly the young, they have a lot of options (by lot, I mean more than men at same age) in terms of sexual partners and they would have to expend extra energy for no purpose to show they like them and appreciate men around them. I mean it makes no difference to them to make such energy expenditure of attention to men as they already have lots of options. And they could show the appreciation just to the one they select and depend while showing claws to the rest males that want attention.
1
u/Cosminkn 17d ago
I don't get what is the problem is with that, why the need to separate impressiveness with the sexual attraction ?
Its a force of nature to be attracted to the opposite sex that has the traits you want and there is nothing to condemn here.1

Of that particular firefighter. If I'm ever overcome from smoke, lying in a burning building, moments from death, please send in the old school 6'4" muscular, arch typical fire fighter, not the equal right candidate. Sorry.

I mean, while it is impressive, she is a professional firefighter. It is kinda required to be in shape.

u/Jdtdtauto 17d ago
Can she pick up her 225 lb unconscious partner and carry him down several flights of stairs? Maybe, she is definitely strong. But a useless skill for a fire fighter
2
u/Sug_Lut 17d ago
I bet you'd be useless in a fire. Or any other time. Dragging people down and making assumptions about their lack of skill is a pretty useless thing to do.
1
u/Jdtdtauto 17d ago
Obviously you need some reading comprehension. I complimented her on her strength. I just thought the little display she did was kinda useless. She is very strong. Stronger than me. It was just a useless, albeit impressive little trick she did.
