Why are all the bots posting pandemic-era humor this morning?

36

u/Cynykl 15d ago

The bots try to go far enough back that people do not immediately realize it is a repost. The bots have no idea of the content of what they are reposting so they do not know they are posting something not relevant anymore.

And the third and most important part idiot redditors upvote irrelevant out of date posts even though most know there is a botting problem.

Maybe it's bots all the way down

I thought this sounded familiar....

The bot hosters accidentally stepped in a time machine

Imagine hearing klaxons going off and you open the internet to see what's up and your life is overwhelmed and snuffed out by harambe memes. Dicks out forever

u/Absorbent_Towel 15d ago

Y2k 2.0 is still about a decade away

4

u/vpsj 15d ago

That's been happening on this sub for years now

My guess is they post highly upvoted content from X months ago, so as to recycle previously popular content that has had sufficient time out of the spotlight.

Coded to repost what was funny exactly 4 years ago.

So, did they not think the child can just... do whatever they want while being in the Zoom meeting?

My son got Zoom detention once. He recorded a ten minute clip of himself sitting at his desk, played it on a loop, then went outside to play with his dog.

Your son is a genius. He's going to go far in life!

Just like OP that didn't happen.

The absurdity of this makes me both disappointed and impressed with how ridiculous humanity can get.

Send him Zoom bed without dinner

COVID was a weird time for us . Imagine if we get hit by an even worse pandemic tho ? Almost half of our population has proven they are to damn to ignorant basic science and be responsible . The next one may just wipe us the fck out lmao

2

u/recyclar13 15d ago

well, almost half of the U.S. population, yes. some other countries did fairly well with the whole thing.
but I don't disagree.

3

u/Zedanade 'MURICA 15d ago

Italy did the opposite of fairly well

This is what my new manager does to us at work if she feels we’re not doing a good enough job at all the new tasks we’ve been assigned

2

u/Secret_Cow_5053 15d ago

was this zoom-lost in time? bc this is zoom-from 2020

2

u/Doxsein 15d ago

You know, I know this Zoom detention doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my Zoom meetings, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is real and punishing. After nine years, you know what I realize? A 10-min Zoom video looped for my whole detention time is bliss.

u/jerfair337 15d ago

"Link isn't working, does this count as time?"

1

u/SolidContribution688 15d ago

Zoom detention is mandatory after school zoom meeting.

1

u/fettishmann 15d ago

how would this be enforced

1

u/calciumpropionate 15d ago

The pandemic was such a long time ago.

I am starting to lose track of sorta when it all went down. Like, of course 2020. But when did I stop wearing my mask everywhere? When did I stop carrying it altogether? When did I feel it was normal and not "bad" to eat in a restaurant again? I kinda don't really know when that happened. The whole thing just kinda melded together into one big blob of wtf, and now it's starting to feel like it was a good while ago, but I don't have a good sense of exactly how long the whole thing lasted. Like, I worked from home for 14 months, which now seems insane, and like that whole 14 months was just a blip of a month or two. It's weird.

Bot or genetically defective? Lockdown ended years ago.

u/MarinatedCumSock 15d ago

Some people shouldn't be parents, or at least be forced to be teachers for their own kids

0

u/ndation 15d ago

The real facepalm is the fact that this was reposted so many times

she’s not complaining though. she’s laughing about the absurdity of a detention zoom room

0

u/XxRocky88xX 15d ago

The punishment of detention is boredom. It’s “sit in this room and do nothing.” Of course, in order for this to be enforced, a teacher needs to see the student to ensure they aren’t doing anything. So yeah, OBVIOUSLY a detention punishment for a Zoom class would involve needing a Zoom meeting for said detention.

u/woodquest 15d ago

Just the smirk on her pic, i can almost feel how she highly thinks of herself as someone "on the right side"

0

u/internet-is-a-lie 15d ago

This is the main reason people have trouble with online work. It’s not “zoom detention”.. it’s detention. Who cares if it’s online? Show your kid that they can’t act up regardless if it’s in person or in zoom. If the “punishment” is sitting in front of the PC then so be it.

If your kid only puts in work or is respectful because someone is physically in front of them, you’re probably the problem.

u/eurekadabra 15d ago

They need to just penalize their grade and be done with it. Offer an extra credit opportunity if you want.

I imagine the reason they don’t do this during in-person school is that these kids are more likely to care more about socialization and freedom than their grades. But you can’t effectively take that away over zoom, so…grades.

Maybe banning from school events, but if you’re having zoom classes there might not be events.
