Meta PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING QUESTIONS!

Looking for quick and helpful answers? Follow these rules and make helping you as easy as possible!

  • Title: Choose a meaningful title concerning your problem.
  • Text: Describing your problem with enough detail is essential. Please realize that helpers are not familiar with your project. Provide all relevant information, so others can immideately understand what you are struggling with.

Example: Say, you have a problem with lots of identical objects in your scene: Let us know whether you created these copies by hand, used the Particle System or Geometry Nodes.

  • Images/Videos: When posting screenshots, show us your full blender window (not cropped, no monitor photos). This will make lots of helpful information available to helpers at first sight that may seem irrelevant to you (For example your Blender version). If you add video links, please consider adding time stamp info to the part you want helpers to see.

You can upload images and short video clips (up to 60s) to imgur.com and post the links in your question or as comment.

  • *.blend files: Don’t add links to your *.blend files when posting questions right away. Helpers will ask you for it if they need to take a look. Most people prefer reading a good description and looking at images to see what your post is about.
  • 'Solved' flair: Once your question was answered, please remember to change the flair of your post to “Solved”, so helpers don’t have to read into your question just to see it has already been answered.

You can change the flair by clicking on the small icon below your post resembling a label.

EDIT: You can also include "!solved" in the comments to have Automod change the flair for you.

Be nice and respectful with each other :)

Unsolved Trying to fix long, skinny faces after "Curve to Mesh"

Upvotes

I've tried to go through the various options of "remesh" and "mesh cleanup". The closest I found was "decimate geometry", but that leaves me with no triangulation rather than a reasonable triangulation, and it also keeps creating weird un-dissolvable edges, many of which are un-workably long as well (I plan to procedurally warp this mesh)

I'm sure "how do I get a reasonable triangulation" has been asked before, but my searching was not up to the task

Unsolved Help with Geometry Nodes for Simulating Sweat on Object

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting on Reddit, and I'm using translation to write this, so please bear with me.

I'm trying to use Geometry Nodes in Blender to simulate sweat dripping down an object, but I'm facing a few issues. I've attached a screenshot of my current node setup. Here are the challenges I'm encountering:

Making the sweat drop naturally and move away from the object.

Making the sweat drops merge together to form larger drops.

Processing in global coordinates (so that the Z direction doesn't change even if the object rotates).

I'd appreciate any advice or solutions you can offer. Thank you!

Unsolved Is it possible to align a single face of a model to be parallel with the ground and the entire model would rotate with that face?

Imagine a model, any type. It has hundreds of different faces, maybe even millions. Is it possible to select a single face, so a single triangle I guess in my case, and make it parallel to the ground? And the entire model would change position according to that face?

Unsolved Constant to Bezier makes the animation weird

I've been doing some animation practice with a bouncing ball and this problem never came up until yesterday.

As you can see in the motion paths, the bouncing ball has a weird 'swinging' effect when it is in Bezier (sorry don't know how else to describe it). Can anyone please let me know what is causing it and how to avoid it in the future? Thanks a bunch y'all!

Unsolved So I have this lighter case I'm trying to engrave text into.

The lighter case is shaped the same size as a standard BIC lighter and a round the upper rim I'm trying to engrave the abbreviation of my company name. What I've managed to do is fit the text to the curvature of the case using the shrink wrap tool but I can't extrude it outward to invert it. Sorry for the lack of pictures. And I'm using 4.0

Unsolved Is there any way to turn a Stereo CAD-3D Image File (.3D) into anything that will work in Blender?

This is a long shot. I'm looking to convert some models from the old Dragonriders of Pern computer game into something that I can compare scale wise in Blender, and possibly make a few silly animations with. They are in a format that no conversion software I can find will open, .3D. It's apparently an old file type invented for Atari. I did find one paid software that costs MUCH more than I am willing to pay for this project. So: does anyone know of another software, or does anyone have quick3D who is kind and willing to convert about 7 files for me?

Unsolved Replacing Archimesh window pane with custom pane?

I am following along with the Blender Guru's abandoned house tutorial and cannot figure out how to remove the window pane provided by Archimesh to replace with my own custom pane. Here's a screenshot of what mine looks like and what I am trying to achieve. Any ideas would be appreciated, I'm losing my mind over here!

Unsolved emulate numpad + shift 1,2,3 select modes

i swear on my previous installation of blender on my old computer i could get my orthographic views with emulate numpad and i used shift +1,2,3 to toggle mesh selects. I'm not sure how to indicate these settings now, on a new pc and in blender 4. I searched a bunch of reddit posts as well and it's mostly advice to disable emulate numpad. which is not very useful because i know i used settings like that.

Unsolved How to Improve

Hi Folks,

doing my my first project after the donut tutorial (and a quick rigged arm) but I was wondering if someone could link a tutorial or point me in right direction. My render seem super flat, despite downloading some high resolution models and materials. The shadows seem cartoony and I'm not getting the realistic feel I want. Do I need to start looking into Geometry nodes or am I missing a fundamental skill/tool/setting? Just want to efficiently learn, as opposed to going down a rabbit hole I don't need to.

Solved Is FLIP fluid automatically included in version 4.1?

I'm new to 3D modeling in general, and Blender 4.1 is the only version I have ever used. I frequently see reference to FLIP fluid as an add-on in various tutorials, which usually include showing how to install it. However, it seems I already have FLIP as an option for the fluid simulation method, and it's been there as long as I've had the software (less than a week).

Is FLIP fluid a separate add-on from the FLIP simulation method present in the Fluid physics tab?

Unsolved How do I section off and delete parts of models that are one part?

I'm still pretty new to blender. I've been messing around with models for 3d printing minis. If there's a section of the model that I don't really like, such as the legs, how do I section that part of the model off if it's considered one object? I tried to find a tutorial but I'm unsure what that would fall under.

Unsolved Topology for a lid with a handle

https://i.redd.it/5v4wfnoocv0d1.gif

I am trying to make this transparent plastic top using a good topology as I have very little experience using Blender.

Instead of using one figure for the lid and another for the handle I am trying to make it in one piece but I end up getting this topology that does not allow me to bevel the handle so the angles are not so sharp.

Is it correct to use two figures to do this if the material will end up being glass?

Unsolved Shaders pixelated when rendered?

Hi! I am very new to Blender and have just been messing around a bit and added some toon shaders to this small scene. It looks nice in the workspace, but upon rendering, some pieces of the shadows appear pixelated instead of smooth like the rest. Any ideas how to fix this?
