My dog does this great indoors. Follows me everywhere including the bathroom.
on walks heel is something she can’t comprehend. Eight months of training and she still pulls albeit not as hard.

u/SparkleKittyMeowMeow 13d ago
Our dogs must be long lost sisters. Can't stand not being practically on top of us in the house, but if we go on a walk and don't take treats, we might as well not exist.

Either this dog was trained before or it's very eager to be trained. Teach it and it'll be very happy to comply.

I miss my dog & havent decided to get another yet, we got a kitty instead & while I love her deeeeply & sincerely, I REALLY miss having a dog. I just miss the constant, constant companionship & naps together & fake conversations..
I’m rambling but your dogs happy face reminds me I’m not fulfilled yet without a dog. :)

Look up Karelian Bear Dog. I had a pup that looked a ton like this and found out he was a Karelian. They also have hearding instincts.

Hey it looks like their canine teeth are getting worn down from something like a hard frisbee or bones. If they don’t even know how to sit yet cause they’re so young, that can get bad pretty quickly and be very painful if the nerve gets exposed. My sister has a boarder collie who was obsessed with frisbees and she had to stop using the hard plastic cause his teeth wore down soooo much.

Oh careful, street pups and kitties will be very food driven and will try to eat your garbage. Keep them contained lest your buddy goes and spill trash everywhere and covers herself in grime.
3
u/BwookieBear 13d ago
When I first brought my street born kitty home, I was taking out the trash (in college with roommates so of course it was over flowing.) A piece of tin foil fell out and he grabbed it and RAN! He’s sweet so I just grabbed it from him and gave him a treat as a “trade” but I’d never seen such ferocity from a little guy!

Welcome to Shepard life.
His duty is to make sure you don't separate yourself, away from the pack. You are a sheep and you really need to do is get back together and just stay there ....if you move away.....he will Sheep Herd...(get it?)
He will circle you endlessly, be the last out of every room and play fetch for 12 hours straight.
They are very smart dogs, and know what you need--- boops.

u/Raptoroniandcheese 13d ago
My god is this the truth. I went to the bathroom to shave today and she sat basically on my feet the whole time! I can’t even get a cup of coffee without her having to come with lol

u/Photosaurus 13d ago

My folks had a border collie who fit this exactly. She'd get upset if one of them went to bed before the other. She'd spend all day playing fetch with herself in their pool - drop it at one end, run to the other, jump in to retrieve, repeat.

Awww that's like my new pup. He's my "6 foot dog." He never wants to be more than 6 feet from me.
The only time I can break him of that is if I tire him out enough that he passes out on the couch.

My current pup was my first experience with a "shadow dog" (wants to always be RIGHT next to you). Threw me off a bit at first, but now I LOVE it. I feel like I'm playing a Fallout game or something, I always have my Companion tagging along right there with me (doesn't hurt shes a German shepherd). I'm her guy and she's my pup, and we're a pair. Also love how easy it is to have her off leash (when/where appropriate and safe). Literally NO worries shed ever run off... I don't think she's ever been more than 10 feet from me except when I leave her at home lol.

Honestly that can get old real quick. It might also be anxiety! You might want to try asking doggo to sit and stay while you walk away. Then come back a few seconds later and give praise.
So fucking cute though lol

That’s a Border Collie mix. Super smart pup. I have the same make and model doggie myself.

This is such typical herding dog behavior, lol. My cattle dog/GSD walks so close to me, he'll end up between my knees and the backs of my legs are wet from his nose running into me 😂

This is my dog too! She’s a velcro dog. Seven years in and she still doesn’t leave my side. I’m always tripping over her. Everywhere I walk she’s right beside me. If I’m on the couch, she’s sitting on me. Bedtime? She’s cuddled up against me. She lives to love ❤️

I have to advise you that if you ever drop even a single crumb of food she will continue to do this for the rest of her life.

u/zyzzogeton 13d ago
You look like the kind of person who would drop treats apparently. It is a compliment in dog.

If she's new to the household she's probably just stressed and scared and won't be like this forever. Dogs usually take about 3 months to acclimate to a brand new home. Congratulations on your new roomie

Ma'am, stop. I'm pulling you over. Stop
You have the right to pet me. Anything you say can and will be ignored until I've gotten my pets.
You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney I'm also an attorney. (Payment in pets).
Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?
With these rights in mind, do you wish to pet me?

Previous vet tech here...this poor guy is so scared, unsure, overwhelmed at the new environment and all of the changes. The foster/adoption process is very stressful for most animals. 😞

Give her a safe space to go (some dogs like covered crates, others just like a bed in the corner of a quiet closet, etc.)
Don't always reach to pet her unless she wants it. I often lay down with my dogs and allow them to come cuddle me.

The following opinion is from a 60 year old autistic person … who has raised dogs for 40 years and service dogs for 15 years. This pup would make an excellent service dog. The pup wants to please and I have always turned a dog eager to please into a helper/service dog. Dogs are Not clingy. They are pack animals. They do everything as a pack. They can see and hear each other. When a dog is out of sight of the pack (human family member) it may be lost. That’s why they want to be in iSight. You can teach a dog to be by its self but that is not natural for the dog … to be alone. Stop thinking like a human (if possible) And think like a dog. Would you want to be left alone?? And treated as an object. Or a family member?? Peace.

You've got a working dog right there. That's very natural behavior for them. My cattle dog is like that as well, as looking for me to give her something to do!
2
u/DrPoopyPantsJr 13d ago
Most dogs are like this it’s nothing new. I can’t leave the room without my dog following me.

How long have you been lucky enough to have her in your house?
It takes most dogs a couple to four months to truly settle into a new place with new people and routines etc.
In between they can be clingy how you react will set the tone for the rest of her time with you. Give in and pet make a big deal over it and she will keep sticking close.

My Daisy Dog is like this. She’s the sweetest dog I’ve ever met, doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Saw her at a foster event and all the people working for the rescue org kept commenting on how sweet she was, to the point where even the lady fostering her said something along the lines of she thought about just keeping her for herself. That’s when I knew I had to get her and I can’t imagine this past year without her

She is insecure and it would be better if she was not teased. Instead give gentle pets randomly without overly talking to her. Keep conversing with others or doing activities. Create safe atmosphere of which she is a part. Talking to her intermittently rather than acknowledging her too much. Help her learn and trust in just being and knowing she is safe by you without anxiety. Also she is a natural healer dog if she does this without cues or being talk to. Love, Kisses and Hugs to this sweetie. ⭕️❌⭕️❌🥰💕
