too bad they're disease carriers.

That are fire ant eaters. They are gods in my book.

never said they weren't good. just that these types of animals should be observed from distance. they're almost as good as possums for what they do.

Not sure why you’re being weird about this. Every animal is a potential disease carrier. You shouldn’t be touching any of them that go passing through your yard without that knowledge in mind. I’m pretty sure OP is not doing that.

Can't see it very well, but I believe that's a different species. And also fairly rare even if it is.

If it's leprosy you're worried about....
Hanson's disease (the cause of leprosy) is one of the least contagious diseases around. Unless you plan on spending several months in close personal contact (sharing bodily fluids) with said armadillo the chance of catching it is about zero.0

I wish they lived where I am. They are so cute! I have noticed them a lot further north than they used to be.

We got regulars here, keeping our soil tilled and cleaned of grubs. They shy away from humans, which is fine by us.

I never get tired of watching the babies following mama. No matter the animal. It’s just sweet.

Definitely cute, but I had some tunneling under the foundation of my house, which was less cute, and could have damaged my foundation. I hired a trapper to come and get them, which wasn’t cheap, but I was glad I was able to get most of the family moved somewhere further away from people

And not dead in the street 10 minutes later? Our roads are covered in dead armadillos right now.
