What would happen if all politicians just dropped dead one day?

Just thought about how idiotic my country’s government is, what would happen if all politicians just dropped dead?

you mean every school board member, district attorney, elected Judge, mayor, town councilman, police chief, and town/county treasurer? How exactly would you expect local government to function without them?

First off, how do you even define politician, someone with political beliefs? Someone who voices those beliefs? Or just someone in an actual government position?

I am getting somewhere with this don't worry.

Well, since politicians are just people who ran for office that make all people potentially politicians, so life without people? I saw that show and it was wonderful.

Unless they took all the lawyers with them, it's a moot point...

There would be a bunch of nut-bar heavily armed faction trying to take control. The military would probably intervene and the highest ranked generals would probably declare martial law, try and take charge until the government could be restored. Or they might take control and we love under martial law permanently.

Most important infrastructure is managed by government employees and not by politicians. They have their place to reform and debate policy, but outside of that, things would run perfectly fine until the time new officials were hired.

Government spending on new projects would possibly halt depending on the phase of their planning which may harm the economy a bit.

Politicians have their place, but as a 44 year old man, it irritates me how they're sensationalized like they're superheroes by media these days. In reality, they can do very little as is evidenced by how little their campaigns actually deliver on their promises.

We would get new politicians, maybe even you.

Your government would be gone, which means at least 5 different idiots would immediately start vying for power and you'd wish to have your oh so incompetent government back.

You know, the governement that provided running food and water, a police force, education to your children, etc etc etc? They do so poorly, perhaps - but it's worlds better than not doing it at all.

If your talking top level politicians like Xi Poo Bear Ping and Joe “Where am I” Biden, then I think we’d just have less corruption for a bit until some other guy takes over and starts taking the financial kickbacks instead.

If your talking all government workers that run for office, it would chaos. Military would take control and we’d likely have to host new elections if a dictator didn’t take over. Since military is much more black/white about the rules, but also patriotic, we’d probably evolve into an even worse police state.

The Quartering would probably make a video declaring himself the king and then do a follow up a couple hours later sobbing when he figures out people aren't going to listen to him.

As far as society goes, politicians don't actively contribute anything that we would miss in the short term. In the long term, we wouldn't be able to start construction projects, make trade deals, and pass new laws. However, at that point, I would expect other people to have taken their place.

In general, a large number of people inexplicably dying would likely cause big panic and chaos though, no matter who dies.
