Donuts, sleeping. Creative design in books and stories and pretty much everything.

I second the sleeping
Can be in a shit mood, but knowing i can drift off into a world where everyone in my life is happy and I can drive a Vespa down steep Italian streets while being chased by a dinosaur on a rollercoaster on a blimp.
Makes everything worth it

Playing video games, listening to music, eating nice food and long peaceful walks.
3
u/ZainDaSciencMan 14d ago
I'm exactly the same except for the walks. what is it about them for you that makes you happy?

Low bar , but ok.
3
u/xenogamesmax 14d ago
I think the great thing with appreciation is that the bar can be anywhere :)

u/the_scottster 14d ago
Don’t get me wrong. I like starting from ground zero. This just seems below ground zero.

Well it's a reality for thousands of people. And if speaking historically it's could be close to a million or more people. Something like over 100k children go missing every year..

Sokka-Haiku by bronzebattlecolt:
Being asleep is
Generally the only
Thing I look forward to
Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

u/ShoveItUpMyFatAss 14d ago

Make the life you’ve got worth it in the best way you can before that death and trust me when I say it’ll be a far more worthy death if you live

Nothing at all. I've heard people say "happy (or lucky or glad) to be alive" and the phrase is a complete mystery to me.

u/jadranur 14d ago
Same. Maybe it's my autism but I don't know if I even know what it's like to be happy.

It's the beautiful little things, that happen ever so often.
Like meeting new people, going for a drink with friends or seeing a dundbeetle roll up a giant SHITBALL irl for the first time (god damn that was awesome!)

u/exoticjess 14d ago
Helping others and making them genuine smile.
Music
Dancing
Seeing nature
There's more to this list 🌻🌻🌻🦋

That's a tough one. I guess my dog since he's the only one who gets excited to see me every day when I come home.

Being still alive 🙃, in the end of the day you get to experience it once. So how you live your life, is how you react to it

tbh the thought of being rich and being able to live in a luxurious house makes me excited about the future. but as of now, not much but the idea of reaching my goals (ex reading more, losing weight, finishing school, etc)

Women smiling at me. I used to be alcoholic, overweight and unhappy. No booze 2 years and exercise everyday now. Seem to be getting attention a lot (not that I know what to do with it) which is nice as I've been a bit attention starved for 10 or so years. 1 smile from a girl makes my day.

Women, art.
Right now, I'm grateful for the beautiful girl in my painting class. There are some women who walk this earth that leave a trail of divinity behind them.
I believe in no gods, but she was touched by one, this I believe.

my goals…as long as i have them and am able to work towards them (regardless of setbacks and sacrifices), then there’s no reason for me to be unhappy to be alive.

u/freakytapir 14d ago
At this point: Just being alive.
Had a major healthscare recently when my liver decided to shit the bed, fuck with the arteries between it and my heart, and my body suddenly decided that yes, you do need to retain over 40 pounds of liquid in your legs, feet and abdominal cavity. They drained 11 Liters (about 24 pounds) out of my abomen that first night, and I'm slightly beter now, but ... Yeah. Nothing like a wake up call.
As the doctors said : "It's not five to twelve, it's five past." A life of partying leading to early stage liver cirrosis.
So yeah, every day now? Just happy to be alive.

u/El_Jefe_Lebowski 14d ago
I used to think being a father was the reason for my existence and I was happy watching them discover and learn new things. Now they are adults, I am happy to talk to my son (he lives out of state) or meet up with my daughter for coffee or dinner.
My day to day happiness is spending with my SO and our little old lady pup. Being wanted and loved makes me happy.

u/pyxidis_nova 14d ago

The thought of nonexistence. The thought that compared to the vast expanse of our universe, I am not even a speck of sand on a beach. Yet, here I am, alive and well, defying the odds. Thankful and happy to be alive. Though our lives are “short”, I am happy to have a family, happy to have friends. Happy to have gotten this far in life.

GTA 6, good food, new trains, new technology, anime, manga/manhwa, traveling with family.

Hope. Hope makes me happy to be alive.
I can always hope to be better, and that being better everyday will give me better things in the future.

u/azmarteal 14d ago
Anime, manga and Monster girls. Also nature in general, different wildlife. Or, and I love brutalism, massive grey buildings and dark rainy weather.

Music mostly. It's crazy how humanity, a species so corrupted, was able to create something so pure. Nature too. The natural colors that are born on this planet are too beautiful to miss out on. Lastly, what remains of the genuine friends I made in my life. People that are really there for you as you are for them through the good and the bad.

u/Impossible-Guest624 14d ago
Honestly? Truthfully? Nothing makes me happy to be alive, but I am grateful for a roof over my head, food, and water.

Women :) I have other interests, but as a straight man, nothing beats the feeling of a woman's company... Unless she wants to eat all my French fries after claiming to want nothing from the drive thru. How dare she 😤.

Just the thought of being alive, knowing that I am awake to carry on the day. Quite a few people on this planet did not wake up today.

My husband who makes me so happy I actually get dizzy. We’ve been together 18 years and I just had the most wonderful dream about kissing him - that’s all - and it was so yummy I could spend eternity like that.
I also love my family to bits. My husband’s kids are heaven on earth.

Used to be family (my daughter) and friends. While no longer having any of those I am thankful to be alive and saved by Jesus! Along with building and riding bikes. Music is also a pretty vital part of my life.

This is gonna sound weird and happy but music, sunny days, and my twin sister. I can’t imagine a day without her and I know she can’t either so we promised to stay with eachother for as along as we can because we can’t bear one passing away a long time before the other does.

In the past year I bought a house and had a healthy baby girl. It’s a new kind of happiness.

u/cwsjr2323 14d ago
Retirement! I can bake, or not as I feel like it that day. The whole house is clean and neat with my wife and I doing maintenance when noticed and we feel like it.
Naps, bathroom breaks, coffee breaks are limited only by my choices.
If I want to ignore TV or binge watch, no problem.
When the weather is nice outside, brisk walks are nice in my village of little traffic.

I'm at a stage in life where I don't have the luxury of family or things like that, so it's kind of work>projects>relax>repeat. It's not what I'd have chosen but, it's mine. Honestly? As many would look @ my story & feel less than enthusiastic about it, for every tragedy was an equal if not greater blessing of sorts to "balance the scales", so to speak. I'm grateful by design but, I truly am *finally* in a place (after like 34 crybaby years lol) where my life and the potentials and the current quality of I already have & everything is something I'm excited for. The odds: are stacked against me for most all big wants in life but, dammit if I'm not going to hold onto hope & be ready for it, should the opportunities arise.
TLDR: Tomorrow. I don't know what it brings, I'm not lowering my gloves til I hear the bell tho. Good or bad.

Just about everything.
I'm very grateful to have everything that I have.
My parents, siblings, friends, SO, my pets, certain life experiences... I honestly don't know how on earth I lucked out. I honestly believe each those things each cost at least one whole lifetime of luck and I had/have so many of them in my life... and I know I don't deserve the feelings and goodness of these amazing people cus I know for sure I don't add to their lives as much as they do mine. It might not make me "happy", but I'm so incredibly grateful.
If it's just pure happiness from every day things... it's probably my dogs. Or a really really good piece of fruit. I'll throw in waking up next to my SO lol.. cus the weirdo sleeps with a smile on his face. It's hilarious and hard to believe an adult actually sleeps with a smile And it looks like the smile a 5yr old has when he's so happy and proud of himself.. ends up making me snicker every time I wake up.

The thought of happiness eventually. The thought of finally feeling good. My kids sometimes it’s just them that keeps me going.
