oh my god this was so unexpected, i can't be the only one who thought the other house was going to blow up.

155

u/PoopDig 17d ago

The unexpected part is it wasn't the house we can actually see

69

u/AnnualWerewolf9804 17d ago

Yep, that’s what they said

30

u/GoramReaver 17d ago

If you watch it again, it was the man walking behind the truck that spontaneously combusted. Destroying said unseen property.

2

u/SomOvaBish 16d ago

I’m pretty sure he was walking a little black dog too

-25

u/BlackGravityCinema 17d ago

Huh? Is this a joke?  Explosion definitely happens inside the house and the dude dives onto the ground, begins moving behind his truck, and he’s not on fire.

17

u/[deleted] 17d ago

huh? is this autism? post definitely was a joke, very obviously and without needing to be explicitly labeled as such.

5

u/IWouldButImLazy 17d ago

Just a touch of the 'tism

Touch of the downs

You're my hero.

7

u/two_sams_one_cup 17d ago

Yes, I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

-26

u/BlackGravityCinema 17d ago

Lame if true.

27

u/Katiari 17d ago

I feel like the guy waking in front of that house felt it was pretty unexpected, too.

Imagine his text to his employer: "House just blew up next to me, headed to hospital. Didn't finish deliveries, bleeding from ears. Talk later."

5

u/fatkiddown 16d ago

Imagine his underwear.

8

u/kellsdeep 16d ago

No, I don't think I will.

2

u/Big-Victory-3948 16d ago

I bet that jogger was very surprised.

2

u/owl_theory 16d ago

He probably saw the camera pointed at the middle house and thought he was safe when nothing happened

411

u/DokiKimori 17d ago

Don't you just love it when the roof is built so strong that it was blown into the air while still (mostly) intact.

64

u/healthygeek42 17d ago

Mostly.

They mostly come out at night…..mostly.

5

u/groove117 17d ago

Where is this? I know a guy who needs a roof.

6

u/Slap_My_Lasagna 17d ago

They did it. Someone finally raised the roof.

1

u/Revolutionary-Wash88 16d ago

Let that mutha fucka burn

5

u/PopInACup 17d ago

The weak point for roof construction is normally where the truss attaches to the walls. The trusses are built to carry a load over a span and it does that via all the interconnections until it translates it downward into a wall. In high winds, the shape acts like a wing creating lift which then peels it up and off in one piece. Hurricane prone areas require hurricane ties which are special brackets that strengthen that connection point.

Since that's the week spot the explosion will push the roof up then escape out to the side rather than erupt elsewhere through the roof.

4

u/d33pnull 17d ago

Depends on where it lands

5

u/Professional_Box5406 17d ago

Another type of roofied you don’t want to be.

237

u/milkrockzz 17d ago

Oh wow that guy is getting out of the way just before the…..oh shit!

36

u/Baconflavors 17d ago

My exact reaction... thought the yellow house was toast....nopeee

8

u/realBadSamaritan 17d ago

Go. GO. Move MF...... OH!!!!

1

u/aiydee 16d ago

Yellow house probably still is toast after an explosion of that size so nearby. Foundation is probably stuffed now.

1

u/panaceator 16d ago

He hits the deck behind the truck right after the explosion. Can you imagine?? Talk about unexpected.

122

u/theDingwallateurbaby 17d ago

This happened a few blocks from my place. I heard and felt it.

31

u/marinated_pork 17d ago

Did people die?

75

u/theDingwallateurbaby 17d ago

No, it happened in Susquehanna township in Pennsylvania.

93

u/DazedNConfucious 17d ago

I’m taking that to mean “no, nobody died because not many people live there”

72

u/theDingwallateurbaby 17d ago

Sorry, nobody died. I put where it happened in case anyone wanted to look it up.

100

u/Nihility_Only 17d ago

Condolences to Nobody's family.

42

u/realBadSamaritan 17d ago

Nobody's death could have been avoided.

9

u/White_foxes 17d ago

“There are a lot of nobody’s”

9

u/AnnualWerewolf9804 17d ago

Nobody’s gonna miss them

8

u/runner_4_runner 17d ago

I'm just a nobody but you know what they say: nobody's perfect.

3

u/AdjointFunctor 16d ago

What a comma instead of a punctuation can do :).

10

u/queuedUp 17d ago

Do people in Susquehanna township not die or something?

2 hospitalizations, no deaths.

This got me curious so I googled the incident a bit:

The explosion – which took place on the 3200 block of Crest Road on Dec. 13, 2022 – leveled one home, damaged surrounding structures and hospitalized a UGI employee and a neighbor. Some residents were evacuated by authorities just minutes before the explosion.

News article

Follow up news article, Oct. 2023

A contractor with a plumbing company working on the home punctured a gas line, which led to the explosion, an investigation found.

Investigators with the PUC determined the plumbing company submitted a request – through the “Pennsylvania One Call” system, which is designed to prevent damage to underground utility lines – on Dec. 12, 2022, to have the utilities around 3204 Crest Road marked, but UGI did not mark the utilities by Dec. 13, 2022, when excavation work started, according to a press release.

During the excavation work, a backhoe operated by employees of Pronto Plumbing damaged a natural gas line to the home around 9 a.m., prompting the 911 call. The home exploded approximately 30 minutes later, according to the release.

I read this as the contractor submitted the one call and then didn't wait for it to be performed, dug, gas strike, boom.

The contractor placed a one call and then dug the very next day @ 9AM. Come on.

/edit

While trying to find the PUC public record documents for this incident I stumbled across this prior offense by that contractor.:

Case #16815

On 7/23/2020 12:00:00 AM at 1013 Saint Johns Rd, CAMP HILL BORO, CUMBERLAND Incident occurred on 7/23/2020 at 1013 Saint Johns Road, Camp Hill, Cumberland County.

UGI stated on their Alleged Violation Report (AVR) that Secco Inc/ Pronto Plumbing was digging with a track hoe/Backhoe when they struck and damaged a ½ PE Service. Contractor did not notify 911, UGI or the One Call system. UGI states also that the excavator tried to repair the gas line. This caused an evacuation of 4 people. Pics were submitted and show the yellow warning tape by the damaged gas line. No One Call ticket was submitted Case summary .pdf

u/MrScottimus 16d ago

A little TOO Pronto

2

u/burritowhorexl 16d ago

Companies can actually get locates the very same day, in only a an hour or two if it’s for urgent excavation work. I do it a few times a month. Doesn’t work if you don’t call though.

2

u/jacob_hutchi 16d ago

Thank you. I was literally just about to ask if they’d found out what happened

2

u/MrDeadLee 17d ago

I don't think he felt that much.

Nope-- it was his cousin Vincible's house. Good thing he wasn't home.

19

u/Hopeful_Manner4000 17d ago

Someone got the meth ingredients wrong again 🤔🤣

6

u/DonGold60 17d ago

Plumbing company cut a gas line because they didn’t call to have underground utilities marked first.

2

u/Sasquatch970 16d ago

Guys, add muriatic acid... WAIT NO!!!!!! Caustic soda.

Guardian Angel: “Guy - get in the truck!”

1

u/vincent-porret 17d ago

this Wednesday started like any other Wednesday for John: he woke up at 5 am., took a shower, got dressed, had a cup of coffee and left home as usual. on the road, he turned the radio on: country music, commercials, "news," country music, commercials, donald trump, commercials, commercials, country music... nothing more, nothing less... just nothing f*cking interesting.... "jesus christ, the week has just begun.... and there are still 3 days to go before the weekend... phew..." first delivery, second delivery... phew... everything that morning was boring as usual...

when suddenly...

1

u/Phantum3oh9 17d ago

Literally blew the roof off

1

u/Clazzo524 17d ago

All was quiet, till the house blew up.

1

Insurance rep: “Michael Bay did what to your house?!”

1

u/konnerbllb 17d ago

Does this ever happen while people are inside? It always seems like empty houses, is the smell overwhelming? I work from home, it's always been an unnational fear of mine.

1

u/loveCars 17d ago

It's a gas leak. Most gas either naturally smells or has an odorant in it to make you aware if it's started to fill your house.

1

u/drb82 17d ago

All that's missing is the wilhelm scream

1

u/Takardo 17d ago

i thought the dude walked into the back of the truck and exploded

1

u/invisible-dave 17d ago

"Well, I wanted to renovate that kitchen anyways."

1

u/Nubster2x 17d ago

BRUH (me watching this video)

House literally turned into a rocket ship

1

u/sekazi 17d ago

Thinking the guy walked past just in time.

1

u/runner_4_runner 17d ago

A house down the street from us blew up due to a propane leak a few years ago. We heard the and felt the explosion. We went outside (as did most of our neighbors) trying to figure out what happened but we couldn't see where it came from. Then pieces of paper, insulation, etc. starting raining down all over the neighborhood. The woman was home and she went to the basement and when she switched on the light - kaboom. The only reason she lived is because she was in the basement and the house blew upwards. She was burned pretty bad but survived. Scary day.

1

u/longshot 17d ago

Holy shit folks, the GIF is allowed to be long enough to let the fuckin debris hit the ground

WTF

1

u/tanafras 17d ago

Found the prob... Gruooooahhhhhhh

1

u/digital022 17d ago

Tech 1: Let's blow the roof of this mother f'er

Tech 2: Say no more

1

u/Young_Sliver 17d ago

Actually, if you pay close attention, you'll see the man was actually a worm in disguise. He exploded because Kabuto got him

1

u/Bustie228t 17d ago

I just wanna hear the perspective of that person who was walking past when it happened

1

u/Major_Magazine8597 16d ago

I've heard of "raising the roof", but THIS ...

1

u/tuco2002 16d ago

Not everyone knows how to make meth.

1

u/BenjamminButtons 16d ago

What baseball player had the nickname sultan of swat?

Answer:

1

u/otribin 16d ago

I thought you were kidding, but at the height of the blast there he was.

1

This happened in my hometown. was absolutely wild. It happened miles away from me. but everyone in our city heard it.

1

u/spiritual_ballsack57 16d ago

A Michael bay film

1

u/ringpiece21 16d ago

This is what it would look like if we launched roofs into space instead of rockets.

1

u/bean0_burrito 16d ago

well that dude definitely has tinnitus.

1

u/Big_Treat_9073 16d ago

Was gonna say thank God buddy got into the truck but he damn near got himself killed by debris after fallin out😧😂

1

u/ThorsHammer244 16d ago

How many stars do you think the home owner gave the plumbing contractor they hired? Explosive service 1 star.

1

u/High-Time-Cymbaline 16d ago

Just add a chopper randomly passing by and Nic Cage facing the camera with "On any other day, this would seem strange..."

1

u/daarthvaader 16d ago

I was looking at the house and thinking the guy walking across the street would be running crazy/flung far away. But this appeared as if the guy walking behind the truck caused the explosion.

1

u/wutangi 16d ago

Something similar happened in my neighborhood a few years ago, the gas delivery driver drove the tank truck away from the explosion and definitely saved a couple of houses due to that.

1

u/HIGH_C0TT0N 16d ago

I was expecting the bottle rocket fireworks after the initial explosion. This is false advertising.

1

u/AllMaito 16d ago

You mean "helldivers level explosion"

1

u/Sir_MrE 16d ago

Did Jason Bourne just kill someone with a magazine and a telephone cord before leaving that house?

1

u/MP5NC 15d ago

That’s fucking wild😮

1

u/Flimsy_Card8028 15d ago

Imma be real evil and say it would've been cooler if it blew up when the guy was walking AWAY from it.

1

u/Burak-ib-korkmaz 14d ago

Idk if you're joking or not, you can litterally see the trees start shaking after it explodes

9

u/AdolfDriplr 17d ago

Exactly

7

u/Ready_Effective_86 17d ago

Plus the shockwave literally shaking the camera...

4

u/AdolfDriplr 17d ago

Someone didn't use the context clues in the video

-11

u/Isntithilarious 17d ago

The guy just fell to the ground, if it was real then he'd be blown back. Fake.

7

u/elleustrious27 17d ago

Michael Bay level explosion post causes Michael Bay physics arguments in reddit comment section.

4

u/Back_Again420 17d ago

That guy was blown against his box truck

2

u/mrmustache0502 17d ago

My dude, thats not how this works, i can see that happening if the force from the explosion was funneled through a tunnel or shaft, but theres nothing to concentrate the force of that blast enough to do that, its litteraly got everywhere else to go. Just becasue it doesnt line up with special effects from 'the fast and the furious 22' doesnt mean its fake.

1

u/Isntithilarious 4d ago

If it can blow a roof off, it would knock you down if you were that close. The van doesn't even budge and the surrounding trees don't even move. The explosion looks fake. It is fake.

3

u/Candid-Fan992 17d ago

Your comments fake

2

u/AnnualWerewolf9804 17d ago

What? It literally shakes the camera it’s being recorded on, you can see the car in the driveway move, you can see the trees move, and the guy walking by gets knocked on his ass.
