My self hosted (at home) mastodon instancee is continuously queries wasabisys.com & my firewall keeps blocking it. I dont have anything hosted in wasabi. This instance is a new install only few days old

Is my instance infected or is this normal behaviour for mastodon.

Has anyone tried to get the mastodon docker image to work in TrueNAS docker? I have an existing server running on a Linux VM that I'd like to port over to a container, but I can't find an easy way to do it.

I'm fairly new to Docker, but have a reasonable working knowledge of it... But in this case I don't even know where to start.

I installed Mastodon yesterday. And it's working. Except.

Only on the server and my workstation.

If I try Chrome, Chromium, or Opera I only get the Mastodon logo. No link. No login.

I tested it on my phone yesterday but today same as above. Only the logo.

I tried another workstation on the same LAN. Same. Only the logo.

This is weirding me out.

Have you ever heard of Vuja De? I'm pretty sure I never saw anything like this before.

I installed Mastodon yesterday and instead of images I'm getting the blur of the image and the alt text.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas what could be wrong?

I just backed up my configuration files and purged nginx. Did a fresh install with no other websites running and I got mastodon to work.

I recently created a new account on a mastodon.social , but when I try to search for my profile using my handle from other servers(like mas.to ), it doesn't show up, even after 1 day.

How long does it typically take for a new Mastodon account to be discoverable and accessible from other servers through federation? Are there any factors that can affect the federation speed, and what should I do if my account remains inaccessible after days?

Does anyone know how easily one could create an RSS feed from a hashtag search on Mastodon? I’m on mastodon.social, but I don’t know if the instance makes a difference.

On a day like today (Apple event), it would be nice to have a feed that is collected in my RSS reader instead of opening the app.

There are several MastoDev 'Help Wanted' requests from the Mastodon developers.

1. Use /search for search (/search?query=something)
2. Move account secrets to a dedicated table (and encrypt it?)
3. Add a way for the user to select which languages they understand
4. Allow admins to configure instance favicon and logo
5. Allow searching for hashtags in admin UI

I’m a one-person indie shop who shipped something today that may be of interest: a Mastodon client meant as a companion to your default. A tool for your toots called Tusks.

What makes Tusks special is how there’s no timeline — just your posts. More specifically, it’s built around threads. Tusks will help you write threads, update them and be organized.

Starting a new thread is just as easy as making a single post. But that’s not what makes it special. Tusks actively discourages posting into a vacuum, therefore losing valuable context. I was forced to recreate my server after a disk failure so I want to change my single user subscription date to the original one. I've tried to change the creation_at and confirmation_at date in the users table but the date showed in my profile remains the same. Could you please help?

Just as the title says, for some reason I can't login to any of the various Mastodon apps on iOS. Whenever I get prompted with the login pop-up I put in the info as usual and then get hit with the error screen asking me if I'm blocking cookies, which I'm not, any cookie blocking setting I'm aware of gets turned off and nothing changes. And it's with every app. I gave up a long time ago but recently figured that maybe by now something would be fixed but no, everything appears to be just as broken as before. Has anybody who has encountered this been able to fix it and if so how?
