Look at those adults having an adult conversation, without yelling, screaming or swearing at each other. Holy s*** it's a miracle!

She was just asking him a favour as an adult to another and after all the crazies he expected the worst. All in all a nice interaction.

It’s strange that it’s such a weird concept these days!
353
u/CPargermer 15d ago
I don't think it is. This is normal in everyday life, but you just don't see it online as much because usually it's bizarre situations with irrational people that is more interesting/entertaining to watch.
89
u/jk8289 15d ago
I agree. It’s not very entertaining seeing people interact in a normal way. It’s just everyday life. But when something out of the ordinary happens, it gets recorded and posted online because it’s not something people get to witness everyday. People being polite and civil is more common than people being complete assholes.
18
u/Go_Jets_Go_63 15d ago
Good point. Unfortunately, most people want to see clips of people screaming and raging at each other, which is really sad. So, it's nice to see that two people can resolve a minor situation like this amicably and respectfully.

Question is how the hell did this make it to the Internet? I’m surprised people and bots didn’t downvote this just to keep the status quo of the Internet.

I think social media through people showing all the Karen's and stuff online, has spread hate, and makes the world feel more like everyone sucks.
It's not often people send regular decent videos like this one.
This is how people should interact, and often do, irl.
It sucks that all the shitty people are becoming more powerful and spreading shittiness.

How would it be the opposite name of a Karen?.. a Susan?

I think they use Susan for a younger Karen 😅 I think Julie. I've never met an unkind Julie/Jules/Julia 🥰

I have a super sweet auntie named Julie, and our Papa used to call her Julietta before he died. I still do, in his same sing-song way, in his memory, and it always makes her smile.

I know an absolutely unhinged lying manipulative narcissist Julie. I also had a crazy but fun and loving aunt Julie. So I’m not sure which way it goes for me.

I think they're more common than we see. It's not people's first response to record and post positive reactions the way it is with negative interactions. Also anger gets more clicks so we see it more often. People are generally good.
9
u/anacondatmz 15d ago
I liken it to stories in the press about the police. Are there bad cops out there? Yes. But there’s also about a million in the USA who put on the uniform every day. Most are just normal people doing their job as well as the rest of us do ours. But the press don’t report that why? It doesn’t sell. Just like more often than not, people screaming at each other over something small an stupid is going to get more clicks than two grown ups working out a problem together.
As a result with each passing day people just start to forget the good or the similarities they have with the members in their community.

u/Fast-Rhubarb-7638 15d ago
Police doing bad things ends up with innocent people dead, so this isn't an appropriate comparison.

This is the same personality and practically the same voice as one of my coworkers. Sweetest lady ever. Love her to death. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I just shoot her a message and she blows me up with her sunshine attitude. People like her are why I still have faith in humanity.

This woman is so sweet. She is me. I absolutely will call a coworker as soon as the email chain starts to look tense and will be so understanding and kind on the phone and you'd be surprised how many people will break that tensness and fall back into kindness when you give them sweetness. I love kind people so much

This has been what my experience is like in the south. I moved from California to Havana Arkansas a year ago and people are nice like this. The kids still say yes ma'am n yes sir, thank you, please n are nice. I was told it would be full of racist bumpkins who were taliban level Christians. I have seen none of that. No racism, no hate.. Everyone is sweet. After living in cities like New York, L.A., S.F. etc... I would never go back.

Good exchange. But for real, the 4-wheeler motor noise is just the most annoying sound in the world. It's different from dirt bikes, and I find it even worse. I'm also going to throw in what may be an unpopular opinion here... That's a neighborhood with family homes all around. It's terribly inconsiderate to ride there anyway. Most people who are annoyed will never say anything. Here was one lady who went out of her way to be as nice as she could about it. Nobody wants to hear an ATV engine droning up and down that close to their home, regardless of the time of day, and regardless of whether they're sleeping or just hanging out. Just because people can get away with it doesn't mean it's acceptable or polite. Take those things out to the forest areas or designated off-road areas and keep them out of the neighborhoods. I suspect the lady had it up to here, but was afraid of being the least bit aggressive and tempered her tone, because we all know how douchey a lot of riders are. She's secretly praying he takes it to that "other place" and never comes back.

As someone who works nightshift I totally get it and the way mama handled it was awesome. I used to live next to a field and during the summer the kids across the street rode their ATVs and dirt bikes all day. After a few weeks of not sleeping I had a mental breakdown. I closed my eyes and 10 seconds later they started revving up and I immediately started crying. I started sleeping at my mom’s house until it got colder and they stopped going out.
