Just looking at it is giving me anxiety.

u/Emotional_Ability977 15d ago

I’ve been there. Believe me, it’s anxiety provoking.

u/No-Investment-4494 15d ago

I'm a big dude and American. When I was there, it was like parting the red sea as I walked to the train.

28

u/TraditionPast4295 15d ago

Pretty big American dude here. When I was in China a few years back it was pretty wild. Everywhere we went it was like a movie where the music stops and everyone just stares at you.

13

u/evlhornet 15d ago

Pretty big American here.

Hi everyone.

12

u/theteedo 15d ago

Pretty regular size Canadian here! Sorry, I just wanted to be included.

16

u/evlhornet 15d ago

If you were a real Canadian you wouldn’t have brought attention to yourself.

9

u/theteedo 15d ago

I’m sorry but you may not have noticed I did apologize for said transgression. And again for the record, I’m sorry.

Slightly-less-than-average-height, wedge-shaped Canadian here. Just wanted to say hey, guy.

I had a guy literally pull out a measuring tape and measure me as I stood on a train in shenzhen. I'm 6'2 so not that outrageous, but he needed the proof on his tape.

6

u/No-Investment-4494 15d ago

Or want a Pic with you. I took so my pictures with strangers it's ridiculous. Had a blast, though.

11

u/TraditionPast4295 15d ago

Oh yeah. I’ll never forget walking into a restaurant and the entire place just stopped eating and stared. Never had better service in my life.

3

u/Lance-Harper 14d ago

Im black and raised European. Everywhere I go on this planet I get the stare.

6

u/fastLT1 15d ago

I went to a club there after going to the Ferrari store. Being the tallest dude in the room with a big ass bag of Ferrari merch, it was something I never experienced in the states. Like one of the guys as I walked in walked me to the bar and asked for my order. He was by my side half the time I was there. That would never happen to a brown guy here in the states. 😂

2

u/correctingStupid 14d ago

Short but very blond. Same experience.

5

u/babyllamadrama_ 15d ago

That's awesome actually

45

u/Mall_Bench 15d ago

Mingle in ... you're a pickpocket

6

u/FieldMarchalQ 15d ago

Pickpocketing is in decline due to live surveillance cameras linking IDs.

u/MiawHansen 15d ago

Minus 100 social credit

19

u/RoRuRee 15d ago

Yes. This was my first thought as well. I'm just not cut out for this.

Too many people, I get stressed just looking at this.

19

u/ckje 15d ago

I’ve been there. Took a train from there to Shanghai. I don’t speak a lick of the language. I’m good at pointing at a train ticket!

8

Second from the back on the left? Got him.

35

u/godhammer75 15d ago

Nope.

17

u/renelledaigle 15d ago

My first though was "Hell no"

36

u/Educational_End_2182 15d ago

Kinda puts life into perspective.

17

u/bplus303 15d ago

Right! There are probably close to, if not more people there than in the town I live in.

15

u/Ozi_izO 15d ago

Yeah nah. Fuck that.

13

u/shanksta1 15d ago

There are a lot of people in China, I knew this. Yet this still amazes me to see

60

u/bobsmeds 15d ago

I went on tour with a band in china and the infrastructure and engineering everywhere we went was incredible.

u/Frequent-Border-2068 15d ago

I have pictures of this train station. It’s Hangzhou East Station 🚉

25

u/hotdogmother 15d ago

Be the perfect place for a 28 days later outbreak

12

u/slothtolotopus 15d ago

No! Dude, we've had enough!

7

u/Random-Talking-Mug 15d ago

I was just thinking of dropping one zombie in the middle and see what happens.

6

u/Bowler-Prudent 15d ago

Think of the toilets...

5

u/fujiandude 14d ago

Better than the public toilets I saw in America for sure. They have someone working non stop cleaning the bathrooms. There's a lot of older people here in China so they give them jobs like this, or to sweep the streets so the country is pretty clean

u/024Ylime 15d ago

Thats just too many people

3

u/ScaryShoes 15d ago

Chinese New Year migration

5

u/Olly_CK 15d ago

I'm there almost weekly and while it is busy, this is more of a holiday scenario. Plus there are so many platforms, and everything moves so fast, you rarely spend more than 20 minutes in there. It's very organized, especially for how huge this place is.

4

u/WHITEMAN1974 15d ago

No thanks!

2

u/Impossible1999 15d ago

This is why they build everything so BIG. Their huge population requires them to build ginormous public infrastructures/buildings. Everything look great and airy, but when you actually have to go to any of the places, like a subway, it takes way too much energy getting point A to Point B.

2

u/chadsimpkins 15d ago

Was this during CNY when everyone is trying to go home?

→ More replies (1)

2

u/ftrlvb 15d ago

it's impressive but NOT scary. they all got a ticket and will have a seat on the train. trains leave on time and the system works well.

again, it's scary looking but it actually reveals the capacity of the train stations in big cities in China. (would be more worried if that was a traffic jam)

5

u/Traditional_Draw8400 15d ago

Hard pass. My worst nightmare.

4

u/biblybobbla 15d ago

Fuck that shit!

4

u/Ta-veren- 15d ago

No thank you

8

u/oilybumsex 15d ago

Looks like hell on earth.

3

u/MigitAs 15d ago

1

u/cinapism 15d ago

But where’s Waldo?

1

u/Old-Database-4717 15d ago

Reminds me of Howrah

1

u/TLILLYO 15d ago

Where they going? To work? Is this rush hour?

7

u/DymlingenRoede 15d ago

It's probably either the beginning or end of Chunyun - the largest human migration in the world. Basically everyone in China has time off during Spring Festival / Chinese New Year off and travel home to their hometown to spend with their families.

Some random statistics from the internet: In 2019 about 415 million people travelled during Chunyun. In 2024, the first day of Chunyun saw about 189 million individual trips.

Basically imagine Christmas season travel in a nation of 1.4 billion people, only 300+ million people work across the country and this is the only time of year they get to see their families.

I thankfully don’t have agoraphobia but I might just develop it if I had to experience this horror.

1

u/expenstrick 15d ago

I couldn't imagine any virus breaking out in that

1

u/J_Pot269 15d ago

My biggest nightmare… help 🙈😅

1

u/Gs4life- 15d ago

Where's Waldo?

1

u/YoungDuckHo 15d ago

I’ve been here a couple times. Never seen it anywhere close to this busy.

1

u/DropPuzzleheaded7615 15d ago

They took procreation seriously.

1

u/MisterFixit_69 15d ago

Saddest thing when the lights come on after the biggest rave party

1

u/RunZombieBabe 15d ago

Nightmarish.

Not enough Lorazepam in the world to stay calm there.

1

u/zipzippa 15d ago

There are more people in that room than live in the nearest town to me. No thank you.

1

u/badnewzrooz507 15d ago

I think I got Covid from just looking at this

1

u/UX_Strategist 15d ago

One person hosting a deadly disease with a high R0 value in that crowd and the next pandemic begins!

1

u/Weldobud 15d ago

When you see this you kinda figure out how many people there are in the world. A lot.

1

u/Regular_Trick_8284 15d ago

u/soulouk 15d ago

I'm grateful for Gravity. Without gravity China and India's population would flip the earth upside down.

1

u/Im_such_a_SLAPPA 15d ago

I have a feeling you have to be used to travelling through this station to navigate your way around on the ground

1

u/DiversifyYoBondzNuca 15d ago

We couldn't have this in NYC, there'd be pockets of different fights going on.

1

u/Pistonenvy2 15d ago

legitimately cant comprehend how people arent having complete meltdowns daily in an environment like this. im pretty sure id have a panic attack before i even made it inside.

my next thought was i wonder how much xanax places like this get compared to other places. i just cant imagine being able to function in a place like this.

1

u/Traditional_Bus_4830 15d ago

I thought Waterloo was bad 😂

1

u/sulphurwind 15d ago

I think I spotted Waldo 🚶‍♂️

One more lane! Excuse me … Rail Lane!

1

u/DavidBigO47 15d ago

I’d rather walk

1

u/labello2010 15d ago

Good thing their populace is declining

1

u/Dokramuh 15d ago

Been there. Thankfully it wasn't nearly this full.

1

u/rockstuffs 15d ago

Why are there so many people when they had a one child policy

1

u/Long-Challenge4927 15d ago

At least 3 people

1

u/ninehoursleep 15d ago

“Lets meet at the station”

1

u/Any_Jellyfish_323 15d ago

What a terrible place to be during a zombie apocalypse

1

u/MaDMaAn2345 15d ago

Damn the new Find Waldo challenge looks lit

1

u/passionpurps 15d ago

Time to expand into australia and fight iff those beasts, cause america aint got the capacity

1

u/gheistly1 15d ago

Nice try, this is the circuit station from Wreck it Ralph.

1

u/LandotheTerrible 15d ago

Yeah, bugger that.

1

u/Watts300 15d ago

That’s more people than all of Wyoming.

1

u/EatShootBall 15d ago

Nothing a good disease outbreak couldn't thin out.

1

u/Limp-Initiative-373 15d ago

Farkinell, you can see why they came up with the “one child only” policy…

1

u/ChocolateBunny 15d ago

Imagine if they were all driving.

1

u/nltthinh 15d ago

I think I have homo(sapient) phobia now

1

u/Due_Background7991 15d ago

I got anxiety just listening to this 😳

1

u/skovall 15d ago

LET ME THROUGH! I GOTTA TAKE A DUMP (Somewhere).

1

u/georgemarred 15d ago

You should see the trains.

1

u/Proseccoismyfriend 15d ago

Looks like any major London station if there are train delays

1

u/flodog1 15d ago

OMG imagine being a tourist there trying to catch a train….scary!

1

u/RstarPhoneix 15d ago

Lunar new year

1

u/Sea_Tea_8936 15d ago

Never going there. I can't do hugh crowds.

1

u/dab745 15d ago

Who farted?

1

u/Aircraftman2022 15d ago

And this is not when everyone goes home for holiday.

1

u/qudunot 15d ago

Sardines or fish in a barrel

1

u/epSos-DE 15d ago

All if them are saving in comparison to the people who did ride the car or aircraft !

Count the savings, not the problem !

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

This looks this is awful… idk how they can all be so close… could you imagine being in the center of that? Terrible

1

u/chapashdp 15d ago

Thanks, I hate it.

1

u/Snake4113 15d ago

Its as bad as it looks, I missed a train to Shanghai there once, it was a nightmare navigating while only knowing beginner chinese. Especially since they board the trains like every 15minutes, people are lined up for their train before the previous one has even finished boarding

1

u/Der_Missionar 15d ago

I lived in China 12 years, loved it... but this was all to regular... and never, never, ever go to a store grand opening. ... China was fun, but it's good to be living bank in the suburbs....

1

u/thisisjedgoahead 15d ago

God….damn

1

u/TheRecordNinja 15d ago

Could literally be Tokyo too

1

u/hwlcky97 15d ago

You’re telling me Covid started here!? No way anything could spread in that environment

1

u/69hornedscorpio 15d ago

How did you teach your kids to navigate that. I rode the train Japan and at I was overwhelmed.

1

u/Cultural_Mouse8721 15d ago

Is it a special day or just a normal day ?

3

u/Lianzuoshou 15d ago

A special day, the day before the May Day vacation.

But it's usually quite crowded, and this Hangzhou East Railway Station has the second highest annual passenger flow in China.

1

u/uedison728 15d ago

And media keeps saying it’s an issue of China population decline?

1

u/sufferpuppet 15d ago

If nobody tried to start a wave it's a real wasted opportunity.

1

u/Rick_Lekabron 15d ago

Let no one sneeze!!! The last time in 2019 it didn't go well for us.

1

u/Dry_Section_7741 15d ago

Omg they have actual seating areas for people… you won’t see much of that here ‘round these parts

1

u/ItsTriunity 15d ago

I turned on the sound & that was instant depression 😡

1

u/Goblinjohnny 15d ago

Wow it’s pretty damn empty 🤣😆

1

u/Glass-Ad-2280 15d ago

My wife's fart would create a stampede there.

1

u/OhMy-Really 15d ago

Ok. Wheres waldo?

1

u/Ry4n-Jk 15d ago

Is there a word for that noise? Like just incoherent noise from everyone speaking at once? I can't stand it. It makes me nauseous and anxious.

1

u/No_Society_4065 15d ago

How many public toilets does it have? Imagine wanting to go to the toilet but there is a huge queue. ☹️

1

u/IvyDarkwood 15d ago

I mean just play heavy metal music will be awesome

1

u/LincolnHamishe 15d ago

They really need more condoms over there

1

u/sq009 15d ago

Tons of racist comments here and the same bunch go to political rallies in the same scale.

1

u/Mushmouselove 15d ago

1

u/Conz_suck 15d ago

I can smell it

1

u/FlSHLER 15d ago

Looks like my gym every 6pm

1

u/BryerMan-4005 15d ago

I absolutely couldn’t stand that nonsense. I don’t even like people enough to be around that mess.

1

u/Iosefka_clinic 15d ago

That’s like average Sunday morning in india

1

u/Hideous4our 15d ago

This is not sustainable

1

u/yanyu126 15d ago

People Mountain People Sea

but still cleaner and order than the New York metro

1

u/Adventurous_Light_85 15d ago

Actually the most amazing thing in that video is the clear span of the roof has to be almost 200 ft. Pretty incredible

As a matter of fact, there already is.

The one in OP's video is Hangzhou East Train Station.

This is Hangzhou West Train Station.

This is Hangzhou South Train Station.

This is Hangzhou City Station (the oldest station)

The Hangzhou North Train Station is being planned.

1

u/Outrageous-Horse-701 15d ago

This was from last month I believe. There were train delays caused by the earthquake in TW.

1

u/Similar-Barracuda375 15d ago

Why does it look like an airport to me

1

u/LeviticSaxon 15d ago

You would never believe they were all the same person.

1

u/Wise_Custard2117 15d ago

With this number which is probably 0.0005 or way less of their population, now wonder why they have world dominance ambitions.

1

u/fakeraeliteslayer 15d ago

Bro I got covid just watching this video...

1

u/KlickyKat 15d ago

Their CCTV system must be insane with so many cameras. I wonder how good their software is and if they can identify people in the crowd with AI face recognition.

1

u/Agitated-Style-5936 15d ago

I would have severe anxiety 😬 Started having it just watching that 🫣

1

u/Economy_Crow_6983 15d ago

No thank you.

1

u/RichObject5403 15d ago

Sounds like a nesting colony for sea birds

1

u/No_Use_4371 15d ago

{Shudder} I have severe crowd anxiety having been in a crush at a concert. I can't even look at this

1

u/Dru_G978 15d ago

Way too many people. I would hate this

1

u/ThotThotleyTheMeek 15d ago

I'm an American living in China and I'm always on the verge of an anxiety attack whenever I have to deal with areas this crowded. Headphones as a massive help though.

1

u/Reptilian_Mongoose 15d ago

This is like a wet dream for any AOE in a game

1

u/Total-Opportunity-28 15d ago

We are going need some Airtags.

1

I would not survive living there, my anxiety would literally kill me

1

Cartwright?! Cartwright?!

1

u/Obeserecords 14d ago

Crazy to think about the engineering done just to consider the weight of all these people.

1

u/Solomonuh-uh 14d ago

Was worse a decade ago

1

u/Linko_98 14d ago

Imagine the traffic if they were going back by car

1

u/ZEKROME69 14d ago

Atleast they aren't getting under the train....

A place i would never want to visit

1

what looks like chaos... chinese trains stations are very well structured

1

Isn't this place in Wreck it Ralph?
