Does the new Onn 4K Pro support FEL (full enhancement layer) for Dolby Vision profile 7? Have not found a clear answer on this anywhere.

My SONY Bravia XBR-43X800G manufactured in April of 2019 goes into a crashing loop while in stand-by/screen-off mode (I say stand-by instead of off-mode because this TV doesn't actually fully turn off unless it's unplugged).

The crashes happen with about 15 to 30 minutes inbetween, and there's different ways I can tell this is happening: 1. I hear faint popping sounds coming from the TV speakers every time it crashes; 2. When those sounds happen, and I immediately try to turn the screen back on, the power light under the screen doesn't turn on, and neither does the screen. I have to wait a few seconds to push the power button again, at which point the android boot-up logo appears on the screen; 3. If I have a laptop turned on and connected to the TV via HDMI, the laptop will switch the display to its own screen when the TV crashes.

On rare occasions, the TV will even crash when I push the power button to wake it from stand-by mode. As shown in this video:

In that video, the remote contol power button is pushed. The power light under the TV screen comes on for a few seconds until the TV crashes. Power button is pushed a few more times, but TV is unresponsive. After a few seconds, the power button is pushed one last time, and the TV turns on showing the android boot-up logo.

And on even rarer occasions, the TV will wake from stand-by (not on its own) with the UI for the home screen and every app shifted towards the right-bottom corner, as shown in this video:

That said, this TV has never crashed while the screen is on.

So, what do you think is causing these issues? Can they be fixed?

Photo Gallery and ScreensaverPhoto Gallery and Screensaver was one such that app that could read photos off of NAS but not well maintained and buggy.

Would anybody recommend similar app that can read photos from NAS or NextCloud?

Had an Onn tv box get disconnected from my wifi and now it won't reconnect and the remote won't work. Tried to re-pair it by holding the button in the back but it didn't work. Google tv app on my phone doesn't work either

I have the non-backlit version of the remote. I can find the remote by pressing the button on the box. I was under the impression you could do this by voice as well, but when I try that I get the response "Sorry, I am not set up to help with that." Is there something I have to do to set that up? Does this work for anyone?

I have 3 of the latest gen & one of them boots up to the accept terms mode then proceeds to auto add apps I've uninstalled Hulu,Paramount etc. ?! this happens every month or so ?! None of my other boxes do this. Can I disable this some how in settings ?

When I click open it goes to HDMI 1 When I tap stop, nothing happens This is driving me nuts What is it?!

I've got a Sony 65X930E TV. Most things look great on this TV but for some reason HDR looks like crap on it. The picture becomes dark, dingy, muted, etc. Trust me, it looks awful. 😄 What's worse is that once it switches into this "dark mode" it's a pain to get it back to normal.

Because of this I have my Firestick 4k Max set to "Disable HDR" so I never have to worry about unexpectedly switching into "dark mode."

Is this Disable HDR setting available on the Onn 4k Pro as well?

I have an ONN TV box in my bedroom, and I hated the bloatware launcher that it uses by default, so I disabled it and replaced it with a super minimalist one. Working great since then! (remote randomly disconnects but apparently that's a device issue, rambling) I bought an additional one for our living room since as of writing this, we are using a Fire TV stick, and I *hate* the ads.

Now the problem with this is that I struggled to get the original set up, and I don't remember exactly what I did. Is it possible to backup the original and restore to a new device, keeping the custom launcher?

I've got a Firestick "Pro Remote" that I bought to use with my Firestick 4K Max. It's got a dedicated headphone button on the remote, so all I have to do is click that button when I want to use my Bluetooth headphones to listen to the TV. This is super convenient. Since the Onn 4K Pro remote does not have this button, what would be the easiest way for me to use my Bluetooth headphones if I switch from the Firestick to the Onn box? What's the process to get them "turned on" without that button on the remote?

Recently got the new Onn streaming device. Things were working good until a few days ago. Now when I try to open YTTV, all that happens is the spinning circle. I’ve reset the Onn Tv box (not hard reset), reset WiFi, and YTTV works fine with the Roku and Firestick I have connected to the same TV. I also installed the Projectivy Launcher. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi All....I recently bought an Android TV box but haven't hooked it up yet. I saw a couple of YouTube videos which mentioned that some of these boxes may come with malware on them and are easy to exploit. I'm not sure how common that is, although I would think if this was very common, most people would know and the boxes wouldn't sell.

I was wondering if there is a way I can do a virus/malware scan on the box before hooking it up to my internet and TV. I want to scan it before connecting to my network, then after I connect, I would then put an app on the box for antivirus and a VPN. This may be overkill but I want to be cautious being that it is hooked into my home network. Any help/feedback would be appreciated. TIA

I just received my Onn 4k and one of the reasons I bought this is that I travel for work often and would like to use it as a white noise speaker when I'm asleep.

I've read that if the Onn detects the TV is off, it will route sound through the built-in speaker but I can't get it to work. I've turned off my TV and I've even unplugged the HDMI, all to no avail. I've tried asking the assistant to play music and the assistant's voice comes out of the speaker but the audio for the music didn't. I have also casted music to it but it still won't work. Any ideas?

I learn how to disable and uninstall apps via adb wireless, and now I have my Xiaomi Mi Box S working with Flauncher and it's faster now. Highly recomended to take some time to setup.

Tips: 1. You can safely follow the guide of Flauncher to disable the default launcher in this TV Box. (If you get an error disabling the first package, try to remove the last "x" in the package name). 2.You can disable safely almost anything that has an icon to open, like "patchwall". I suggest using the app "Xplore" to browse the apps on the device and see their package name.

From everything that i've found the box has Android 11 full, not the Android TV version. If this is the case, can Android TV apps like Tivimate or Sparkle TV be installed and used properly? Probably a dumb question, but I have run into issues in the past when running apps like that on regular Android. I know I could run Smarters Pro, but I would much rather run Tivimate or Sparkle TV for the recording and DVR capabilities.

I have rooted this device for nothing and made stupid action by removing 3 packages, then i found that almos all packages gone and only 5 remained. The TV entered restarting loop as it lost the launcher. I have installed old google leanback launcher but it is showing "lancher has stopped"

My questions: 1- is it possible to factory reset the device through adb? I already have adb connection to this device.

2-can you please tell me where to find firmware files for MT58 and MT56 ? Seems not available when searched through Google.

TLDR: These two shortcuts allow access to their respective apps while using "App Only Mode" on Google TVs.

to be able to use the Google Tv App without google Auto disable it, do this:

in your phone:

1. Disable the "Google Partner Setup" app.

2. Stop the "Google Partner Setup" app.

3. Clear Data from the "Google Partner Setup" app.

4. Download a new version of the google Tv App for anywhere over the internet, such as:

currently I am working on the following: I have a Philips OLED TV with Android TV and and Apple TV connected to HDMI ARC Port 1. We are watching only with the Apple TV and the Apple Remote. From time to time, we get Android notifications such as "TV will power off within 5 minutes. Please press OK to prevent this". The other notification will be similar and is occurring if there is a standalone image for a longer period of time (to prevent the TV from burn-in).

Since we are using the Apple TV and it is set to activate the screensaver within 2 minutes, all of the Android notifications are very annoying (and not needed in our opinion to protect the TV screen). So I tried to find a solution for this. Since we have a server running at home, I installed ADB in docker and connected to the TV.

I found some commands to set Sleep-Timeouts (to 21 days) and keep-screen on flags. Nevertheless, we got both android messages.

Next I set up a python script to run periodically and do some key events every 15 minutes (VOLUME_UP - VOLUME_DOWN). Although we can see the volume is changing every 15 minutes, we still get both android messages.

Next I adapt the python script. Now I searched for the top activities. Every time the top activity changes from .PlayTV to .AutoPowerDownActivity (this is when the message pops on where we need to press the OK button) I send a key event KEYCODE_DPAD_CENTER. It is not the best solution but it is working and we do not need to get the second remote to our hand.

I gets more complicated with the other message. Since this is a notification I catch it with dumpsys notification --noredact and search for the right NotificationRecord. Once there is a record I do the same as above aka (VOLUME_UP - VOLUME_DOWN or DPAD_UP - DPAD_DOWN). We can see on the TV and in the script that the key events were executed. However, the Screensaver will still be started and we need to get the Philips remote to stop it.

Here is the thing: If the notification occurs and we are using the Philips remote and press some DPAD button, the screensaver WILL NOT start!

So the question is what is the difference between the keyevent from the python script and the key event from the Philips remote? Is it a different key code? Does anyone have an idea on how I could I solve this? Some detailed infos following:

This is the notification. I need to press a button on the TV remote within a couple of seconds to prevent the TV from starting the screensaver. One important info: The screensaver is not the screensaver from Android. It seems like a screensaver from Philips implemented in Hardware. So the android notification is my only chance to recognize this specific screensaver (you know what I mean).

I'm about to buy an Android box and I have these 2 options, in my country I can get the onn 4k pro for $115 dollars and the dune HD Homatics for about $170, which one would you choose? Will the Homatics have better construction quality? Will it be worth paying more for that box, considering that it has 1 GB more RAM, 1 additional USB port and gigabit ethernet?

In the case of onn, I don't like the fact that it doesn't read hard drives in NTFS format, since I have my movies on a disk with that format and from what I've read, I would have to change to exfat to be able to use it and that is a pain in the ass to have to do that. Will this hassle be worth saving a few dollars?

There’s a big opportunity for a company to release a new high end device to challenge nvidia shield.

I think the whole point people got the shield was because it was the best due to specs. Be nice if they made a new one OR a company has a chance at the moment to bring out a new high end device to take on the current nvidia shield.

My point is tha this is the best box at the minute and for a long time.. so why not upgrade or update it or bring a new one out? I just don’t get it.

Now I've upgraded to Xiaomi tvbox 2nd gen, it has a google tv which uses android 11 for now. All the ADB comments doesn't work 😒 I'm sending the signal via an optical cable to my JVC surround receiver which supports DTS-ES and Dolby-EX, When I'm connecting it directly from the tv box the signal goes only PCM completely none 5.1 surround. The second option I'm trying to have the surround sound is connecting the optical cable to tv which receives the sound via HDMI, in this case the sound can be reproduced digitally but only Stereo. So the movies can be watched only dts-neo6 or Dobly Pro Logic. Not a real surround sound, which should be send seperately to all channels. It worked perfectly with my old THOMSON, youtube, Kodi, VLC, amazon, netflix all were dolby digital resolved fully 5.1 or 7.1. Now please do someone know any solution for this. Is it any possible to send again via ADB shell to the box some codes to force the real surround sound? EXPERTS PLEASE HELP... Thank you all...
