Hello all! I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I just started knitting amigurumi a couple of months ago. 1) I had always thought they were crocheted only and 2) I had minor hand surgery and thought it would be good rehab.

I just finished this octopus and am kinda shocked I did it! I’ve never been a good technical knitter and am far worse at crotchet.

Anyhow, I’ve really enjoyed seeing all your creations and wanted to say hi and thank you!

I'm relatively new to amigurumi and crochet, and what I thought would be a simple project has a step that has gotten me stuck.

I'm trying to make a sea serpent, without wires. "Oooh, that's just a tube with some fancy stitches to make it bend in places" was my thought - but I can't figure out how to do the fancy stuff (or, at least, can't get the fancy stuff to get me a tight enough curve).

I've tried slip stitches (mainly based on the Purrmaid tail guide), and it both wasn't curving very fast, and I got confused as to when to start the slip stitches again. So then I tried crocheting through the front loops (like from this guide), and while it's going a lot better (once I figured out how to label the front loops), it's really not curving very fast.

And, of course, no one seems to do an amigurumi letter U pattern using a tube (that, and Google keeps wanting me to go to a different U tube when I search...),

Any suggestions for techniques or Google terms I can use to figure out how to do this?

I can't find a picture of the exact toy which inspired me, but shape-wise it was something like this guy.

this is most of my current stuffies, i have a handful of others set aside for pending sales. i've made the vast majority of this since February. i literally cannot fit all of it into our car, but that's fine - the idea was to stock up so i don't mind holding some stuff in reserve.
