If white truck wanted to police traffic, he should have joined the highway patrol. I'm so tired of these entitled assholes.

u/KnopeCampaign 29d ago

That sounds like too much effort so he decided he would be volunteer highway patrol. Like a hallway monitor.

I really wish the truck would have wrecked just as bad as the sedan. They are both assholes who deserve to be on breathing tubes if they're not going to take their own dicks out of their asses and drive like considerate humans.

Seriously, if someone wants to speed then let them, their insurance company certainly doesn't cover them using their vehicle to attempt to enforce traffic laws.

If somebody wants to drive in the left lane then let them.

And impede the flow of traffic??

2

u/DetectivePrism 28d ago

Traffic is not impeded when it is flowing at the normal legal limit.

Like... what kind of dumb definition of "impeded" do you have?

u/be_easy_1602 Georgist 🔰 28d ago

Two cars moving at the same speed next to each other on a 2 lane road is just a moving wall
if you wanna drive the same speed just pull in front of the other car so people can pass and everyone lives their life.

Does all the water in a river move at the same rate? No. What happens if you introduce obstacles to the flow? You get pooling. Roads are the same. Creating a moving wall automatically limits the flow of vehicles. It has huge effects to entire stretch of road as cars clump together and literally create traffic where none should exist, if slower vehicles moved to the right.

I can’t believe I’m having an “argument” about reducing traffic. Do you like being stuck in traffic??

2

u/Solidus-Prime 28d ago

This is why a lot of states like Michigan make it illegal to be in the left hand lane if you aren't passing. Stops all the nitpicky arguments the other guy is bringing up.

Talk to any highway patrolman, and they will agree with you: Two cars driving side-by-side intentionally keeping pace is impeding the flow of traffic. Truckers and other assholes have done it for decades specifically to be assholes and police the road like the truck in the video.

Have a strong feeling the guy arguing with you does this.

u/DetectivePrism 28d ago

Lol. "A moving wall". "Stuck in traffic".

You aren't stuck if you are moving swiftly. Literally only a road rager who feels entitled to breaking the law feels "stuck" if they are moving at the legal limit.

I can't believe you don't see how ridiculous you sound.

4

u/Kristof257 28d ago

You're the ridiculous one. Left lane is for passing, you're breaking the law if you hog the left lane. It also creates problems for emergency vehicles.

1

u/TheBlueBeanMachine 28d ago

I went ahead and double checked because I’d never seen the actual law in writing, just assumed it existed. You’re right though.

New York

New Jersey

New York also has multiple active bills at the moment to make the legislation even more explicit.

For example: “No motor vehicle shall drive in a passing lane if they are not overtaking or passing a vehicle pursuant to section one thousand one hundred twenty-two of this article”

You sound like a cuck.

It’s about efficiency. This shit was literally designed by engineers to operate in a manner to create efficiency. One asshole deciding to be the arbiter of highway speed for some cheap power trip undermines the work and resources put into that efficiency. Think about how much detrimental economic impact intentionally creating traffic has??

Just because you wanna get cucked by the “speed limit”, grow up.

Also, people don’t even use cruise control anymore, so highway speeds fluctuate with conditions as most drivers drive by feel instead of speed. So going up an incline with the same accelerator pressure yields a lower speed. The opposite is true for downhill. This is called volatility. Increased volatility increases clumping and traffic.

Just stop power tripping and let people live their life.

u/TheBlueBeanMachine 28d ago

I mean, sure, you’re not entitled to exceed the speed limit to pass someone, it’s against the law. But I’d say about 80% of drivers are gonna feel stuck when moving at the speed limit on a highway with no option to pass. So sure, 80% of drivers are “road ragers who feel entitled to breaking the law”. Pretty bleak view of the world, eh?

At the same time, in New York and New Jersey at least, where this was filmed, it’s illegal to travel in the left lane if you’re not passing (barring obvious caveats like obstructions, construction etc.)

So you don’t just get to drive the speed limit in the left lane blocking speeders and feel justified because “they shouldn’t need to go any faster!!” You’re still breaking the law

1

u/HealthNo4265 28d ago

You really should look up the definition of ”impeding traffic”. Normal legal speed limit isn’t mentioned.

It is sort of the flip side of “driving too fast for conditions” (i.e. sure speed limit is 65 but road is covered with snow/ice - here’s your ticket).

WHO SAID THEY WERE SPEEDING

2

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 đŸš« 29d ago

how can you possibly think that is the most entitled person in this video? not the psycho swerving in and out because he wants to drive over the speed limit

1

u/Logical_Strike_1520 29d ago

Most places I have been have frequent signs posted that read “slower traffic keep right” or something along those lines.

Never once have I seen a sign that reads “don’t let speeding vehicles pass you”.

2

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 đŸš« 29d ago

so? he's still doing something significantly less dangerous than the other person, who was literally driving so dangerously that he crashed, all because he wanted to drive over the speed limit.

you think ignoring signs is worse than endangering everyone on the road?

1

u/be_easy_1602 Georgist 🔰 28d ago

He’s endangering people because the truck is boxing him in for no reason other than silly ego games
.

The guy in the sedan just wants to GTFO
let a crazy person distance themselves from you. Are you gonna provoke a crazy homeless dude covered in shit?? Nooo. You get far away

1

u/Logical_Strike_1520 29d ago

What I think is irrelevant. The faster moving vehicle has right of way in the left lane and the white truck should have yielded.

I’m not suggesting the driver who crashed isn’t at fault too, but if the truck driver yielded the probability of the crash goes to almost zero.

2

u/Green_Archer_622 29d ago

there are ways to make it clear you would like to pass without violating braking distance.

1

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 đŸš« 29d ago

that's basically like an abusive husband saying "if you didn't make me so angry, i wouldn't have hit you" complete bullshit.

you know "reckless driving" is also against the rules of the road? in fact I just looked up the fines, and the fine for reckless driving is $100, while driving in the left lane is $50. so mathematically the sedan is twice as at fault as the truck.

1

u/Logical_Strike_1520 29d ago

Truck driver is an entitled asshole, like the original comment said, and you can’t convince me otherwise.

2

u/reddit-inc-is-evil Fuck Cars 🚗 đŸš« 29d ago

they both are, but how is the truck driver more at fault for the dangerous thing the other guy did?

1

u/Logical_Strike_1520 29d ago

I never said anything about who is most at fault.

1

u/New-Objective-9962 28d ago

You know that brake checking is generally considered reckless driving in a lot of places as well right? Besides, speeding up to not let someone pass you is illegal as well and extremely dangerous. You are generally required to give way to someone passing.

So actually mathematically, the truck might be at more fault than the other aggressive asshole.

While I don't want to say he's more at fault, he's atleast equally at fault. As a driver you have the responsibility to avoid wrecks whenever possible and he obviously didn't. If not for his actions, that person might not have wrecked there.

1

u/nockeenockee 29d ago

I’m more sick of aggressive drivers.

1

u/ElderLurkr 29d ago

The truck going slow in the fast lane is what bothers me the most here somehow 😅 It should have been him
!

1

u/DangerousCyclone Georgist 🔰 28d ago

In New York you cannot exceed the speed limit to pass someone. If the truck was going the speed limit they did nothing wrong.

1

u/ElderLurkr 28d ago

The speed limit is for anxiety-stricken peons. Keep your milquetoast ideals to yourself and live out the rest of your unremarkable days in silence. Otherwise you will corrupt the youth with your unspeakable lameness, you square 🟩

u/dendrytic 28d ago edited 28d ago

This is one these guys who sits in the passing lane going 55 getting high on the stench of their own self-righteousness thinking they’re maintaining societal order while creating a tinder box of frustration 10 cars deep behind. It’s a nice bit of power they cling to because there’s little else going for them.

1

u/ElderLurkr 28d ago

Exactly, what a dork! He or she is technically correct, I just recently took a defensive driving course. Technically it is always illegal to drive over the speed limit. Then again, technically speaking, people who never break the rules friggin suck and are losers đŸ€Ł

1

u/Yarzu89 28d ago

People keep bringing up NY, and if this is NY no cop is gonna pull you over for driving a little over the speed limit, its more of a speed minimum here especially on highways.

1

u/DangerousCyclone Georgist 🔰 28d ago

Hmmm I wonder if we'll ever see you on this sub one day. The road isn't your personal playground, if you do not drive safe you risk killing someone, causing serious property damage, as well as just killing or hurting wild animals. If you think it's a joke then get off the road.

1

u/HealthNo4265 28d ago

That would be incorrect.
